Karen, I have that problem with my DH too. I think he has lost more weight than me, but he makes some bad choices because he eats out a lot at work.

Karen, Maybe watching you and the transformation your lifestyle change will have for you will be an encouragement to him down the road. Maybe he's not quite ready to make the same kind of commitment you're ready for, but I would think that watching what it does for you will be a real boost for him.

Well, the conferences are over. I went to assist the teacher that I subbed for. Tonight was appointment only and tomorrow is walkins. I won't be there tomorrow because of my trip to Ohio University with DS.

As I entered the middle school the 7th grade principal grabbed me by the arm and explained that a long term sub in the 8th grade is not working out and they are letting him go tomorrow. Guess who they asked to fill in for 2-3 weeks? So I am now going to be teaching 4-8th grade math classes, 1-algebra class, and an encore class that I have no idea is about. I start on Monday. I will be walking in cold turkey. I feel sorry for the first class that I teach because I am sure that I will be lost.

Out of the 15 conference scheduled tonight 3 were not pleasant. One was a parent complaining about 1st quarter, one complained about me because I gave her daughter a zero for a homework that she didn't have one day in class. She thought that if the daughter brought it the next day then she should get credit. Even though the homework/worksheet was gone over in class the day before. I explained that my policy was if a homework is assigned and you don't have it the day it is due then a zero is earned. The teacher backed me up. Well DUH!!! Don't understand parents like this.

And the last one ended really horrible. It was the parent that I was very concerned about during my term of teaching. The conference started out very well and then took a turn. Don't want to go into details, but this parent for some reason can't stand the LA teacher and began verbally attacking this teacher tonight. The parent was very disruptive and then barked at the teacher. The parent was way out of line.

So that is how my evening went. I am going to watch ER and then head upstairs to pack for my overnight trip.

Just want to let you know that I am leaving at 7 in the morning and going out of town. Will be back sometime on Sunday. Take it easy.

Betty is a busy YaYa these days!! Sounds like someone needed to slap that mom upside the head. Wish I'd been there.... I've been needing someone to slap for a few days now. Tried doing it to myself but it's not as much fun. ~~ Soooo.... we get Sketti back for a few days, but sounds like we're about to lose her to another job now. *Sigh* You must be one awesome teacher Betty! Go get'em YaYa!! Enjoy your time with DS.... I hope he finds exactly what he's looking for in a University... not an easy decision to make is it? He sounds like such an amazing guy though... I'm sure he'll know the right one when he sees it.
