The Worst Age for Disney

I mean this tongue and cheek...I have just determined my child is at the worse Disney age possible. He is 6 and 46 inches...

Old and tall enough to want all the thrill rides

Young and sweet enough to want all the characters, kids shows, and kiddie rides.

Makes prioritizing attractions a lot of fun...

When he was three it was easier...a whole slew of rides he didn't qualify for

Maybe we should just add another date! Anyways thought I'd share for a giggle!

Totally thinking the same thing - my kids are currently 7 and 46" tall...they have just 4 months to grow! That, or we buy them some serious platform shoes for some certain rides...

I have a double problem!!! My DD8 is 53 inches tall and has been riding all of the thrill rides since she was 5!!! My DD5 is 42.5 inches tall now, so our July trip will be the first time she will be tall enough to ride BTMRR, Splash Mtn, TOT, etc...which is GREAT!!! But she still won't be able to do RnR or Space Mtn...we're hoping for 1.5 inches growth in the next 5 weeks!

This actually makes it easier. HE gets to make the choices, not you. "Do you want to go on Twilight Zone or get Piglet's autograph?" It's a great way to learn a lot about your child. I never knew my son's love of the movies until he was old enough to decide going to the Studios was a priority. It's very nice when the child gets to help out with the decisions.

I would agree. Our worst year was when DS was 6ish and about a half inch to an inch too short to ride RNR. He was devastated! (We knew he was too short, but I guess he hoped he grew in a day!) It was never hard with DD because we didn't try with her (and she was more of a chicken). DS knew we were riding the "good" rides and he has never had any fear, so he REALLY wanted to ride!

Many of us can feel your pain!

The worst age for Disney is the age at which you can't go for whatever reason. I'm past that age. Therefore, I'm at the BEST age for Disney!

It was three and four for DS. He was scared of everything at the MK (rides and characters which is mostly what there is). We tried that park once, but then skipped all Disney parks till he was six, just playing at the pool, going to SeaWorld (always a huge hit), going to Gatorland (worked out just fine). The rest of the extended family enjoyed these activities and the Disney parks and we made the Orlando trips anyway to meet up with everyone, but just did our own thing on Disney Park days.

For me (my parents still call me their child) the worst ages were 24-34. I'd still come for maybe three nights / two days with DH to hook up with the family / see everyone, but we really didn't care a thing about theme parks or the atmosphere of the WDW (We were DINKS -- no kids till 34). We really wished everyone would pick a better meeting place, but never said anything as we could see how absoultely enthralled everyone else in my exteneded family was with WDW and Orlando except us. And how nice for all of them. During this time period our favorite vacation activities were skiing and hiking at our National Parks (wanted to save as much of our precious limited vacation time for the great outdoor). Having kids, though, changed that a little. And then for me when kids reached that tween/early teen ages it was just so much fun to do theme parks that I got hooked on Disney/Orlando as a favorite vacation place for about six years (ages 45 through 51) where I did an annual trip with my kids with or without the exteneded family visiting part.

This is our first trip and my boy is 6. I am lucky though, he is tall currently measuring in at 48.5 inches!

Remember those with inches to go, it can happen! My boy just hit 48 inches in March and when I measured him Saturday he grew another 1/2 inch!


Our worst trip was to Canada's Wonderland when DS was 3. His hair hit the 42" line but they would not give hm the 42" bracelet....whch his cousin who seems no bigger got! The day was mostly good but there were a few meltdowns when bigger rides came around.
