The World of Warcraft Cataclysm Thread.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend. Well I had started raiding again. I was going to go on Friday and Saturday nights with a 10 man. However, after this last Friday night, I don't think I'll be doing it again. First, a couple of the "elitist" guys that think they are WoW gods, were trying to form a 10 man run for the same instance an hour before our was going to start. Then when they finally came with us, they were total....well can't think of a way to say it that won't get me in trouble on a Disney message board. One of them even told a girl that is was to bad her parents hadn't been more into "pro choice" so they wouldn't have had her. I'm telling you, it was bad.
Then there was loot drama that I was square in the middle of. There had been some BoE bracers in our g-bank. Normally, I don't ask for stuff like that, but I did b/c my DH just wouldn't shut up until I asked if I could have them. During the run, the 24 hour time period ran out and since I was the only one that asked for them, the GM came to BWD and gave them to me. A helm dropped, and I picked it up. Before this run, my gear score was so low that I couldn't do H ZA. When a wand dropped, I thought "sweet, that would be a huge upgrade since I'm sporting a 316. It was Theresa's Booklight a 359, so a massive upgrade. I asked the RL if it was ok if I rolled on it. He gave me to ok and I won the roll. Well a few minutes later, the GM whispered me and said that since I had gotten the bracers out of the g-bank, that I should give either the helm or the wand to this lock in the run. He added that if I didn't he remembered things like that. This little whinny "man" ran to his buddy (who happens to be the GM) instead of the RL. He had a blue wand from a H, so it was a better upgrade for me. Honestly, I would have given him one of the items if he had gone to the RL and not the GM. It was just the fact that he went to his buddy. I just get sick of these "men's clubs" in guilds. If your big buddy's with the GM, you get whatever you want and can do whatever you want. I took what the GM was saying as a threat. Like "if you don't do this, then if you need something in the future, you can forget about it." He told the RL, what he really meant, was that if I had given him one of the items, then he would have rewared me with 3 new epic BoE's the next day. Honestly, I would rather this "man" not have gotten his way than have been handed the epics.

Tuesday was an amazing day for me on WoW....

After being totally abused about my low DPS in a heroic, I decided to find out why. Well, lots of reasons, it turned out.

I had to reforge lots of gear.

I had to add gems.

I had to add glyphs. ( still can't get them all )

I have to get enchants.

I got a pair of level 359 crafted breeches and gemmed it +40 Int.

I switched to arcane, and learned how to play it as a guildie helped me out.

Plus, I made 3000g selling whiptail and Volatile Life.

Seriously, without even doing everything I need to do, I almost doubled my DPS, I suspect, because I can tell how fast I am now killing stuff in Uldum compared to before the changes. I almost 1 shotted a level 83. I had 3 consecutive hits for 24K plus..... and now, solo melee targets usually don't get more than a single hit on me, if that.

See, that is how casual I was. It's kind of fun making all of these improvements and seeing the results.

Grats! I just recently started playing my Mage again. I had forgotten how much fun it was. I specced Frost through BC (hit 60 with this toon towards the end of vanilla) and most of Wrath, then respecced Arcane when ICC came out and never looked back. I'm in mostly blues with a couple of crafted epics, few chants or gems at the moment, and still manage to crit quest mobs in TB for 35k.

My main is an arcance mage and I just love her. I've only played fire a few times, and just didn't like it as much as arcane.

This! You inspired me to re-look at my gear and glyphs, spell rotations etc...

I need a Glyph that I haven't found on the AH and no one i know (even with a skill of 525 can make it? The glyph is a warlock one: Glyph of Life Tap... anyone know where I can get it?

Also, how do you reforge? Should I wait till I have top gear first? And I noticed one of my items has a Meta Gem slot... whats that?

I finally completed my first Heroic Cata Dungeon last night and it was fun!

i've been considering canceling my account for a while cause my guild is on hiatus and my other group of friends are stuck on cho'gall... the last two posts however have got me thinking about making a mage. i've got a couple classes i've never tried and a couple i've never made it past like 20 or so. mage is one of those, so it'd be a new experience.

Reforging is easy. Just find the Reforger in the city. Place an item into a slot that the reforger opens.... tell it which stat to take down, and which to bring up.... and pay the gold.... I had never done it til two days ago. You can't totally get rid of a useless stat... I think reforging takes away like 40% or 60% of the uneeded stat and adds it all to the stat you want. I think for all my reforging it cost about 60g.

BTW, the reforger in SW is with enchanting in mage quarter..... I don't know about all of them.

A meta gem is a kind of gem on its own.... they sell meta gems in the AH.... You need a Meta gem slot to put it in.... from what I have seen so far, it will require you to have at least one other gem in the item, usually of a specific color.

Mages are so much fun!! My first main was a warrior and I never even thought about playing any other class. When BC came out, my friend wanted to level draeneis together. Since she made a warrior, I made a mage. Well she got bored with her warrior, but I kept leveling my mage. The legs of the draenei totally creeped me out. Just the way they bend while casting, but as long as I had a robe on it was fine. The mage was just so much fun that even with the creepy draenei legs, I just had to play her.

Gotta vent on my pet peeve after the last 2 days.

Why do people seemingly want to do whatever they can to kill the AH marketplace? Mostly I am talking about farmed mats.

On my server, whiptail usually sells for about 40g a stack. And I have never had much issue selling it at that price. Then along comes some yahoo who puts up 20 stacks at 27g a stack, when the next higher price is 38g..... then you see people putting up stacks at 22g, 21g......

I don't get it. You not only kill it for others, but you make way less money for yourself than you need to. If you want to undercut, that's fine, but why throw away all that money for yourself?

So, yesterday, I bought about 50 stacks of whiptail at prices of 20g - 28g to resell at a time when they do sell at the normal price. In fact, I sold about 20 stacks yesterday for 11g a stack more than I paid for them, in about 30 minutes on the AH. Still, tho, I have about 30 stacks I still need to sell from yesterday and I won't put them up on the AH because today the prices are even lower. Fortunately I have a bank guild to store this stuff until prices normalize.

Between what I had, and what I bought, I'm sitting on about 75 stacks of whiptail that won't hit the Ah until I can at least see 37g a stack.

Anyway, I have a REALLY COOL story to tell you.

A few days ago when I was looking to improve my DPS, I put a message up on the WoW forums from Blizzard. I got nothing but help there except for 1 troll response. Everybody offered solid advice.

Anyway, last night, guildies and I were doing low level dungeons for achievements when I got a whisper from someone I never heard of. It seems that the guy saw my post on the WoW forums and noticed that he and I were on the same server, and that we are both arcane mages. Well, he was getting ready to go raid, but in his whisper he said that he wanted to "help anybody who tries to learn to play better."

OK..... so what does that mean? Then the guy says "Gotta go raid".... I don't know what that is all about yet.

About an hour later my mailbox icon turns on. What is that about, I wonder.... Turns out the guy sent me 6 enchants, 3 glyphs, and ( 2 ) +40 red gems! And a note that said, "sorry I couldn't chat more last night. I hope these help!"

So, I sent him a thank you and added him to friends. :thumbsup2

Buy low and sell high! LOL I do that alot too. Just hold onto those when the market levels out and make some money!

And wow that is uber cool of that guy!

Can anyone give me some recommendations for better UI's? I'm having problems viewing raids with all my add ons. I want to streamline things a bit and open my my visibility. I feel like I've looked at a zillion UI's thru google to get ideas and I just don't see exactly what I want. My main is now being converted to a healer and I use Healium extensively.

So another WoW weekend is over for me...and while nothing super exciting, got a lot done in a few short hours of play..

My pally on Elune will ding 70 very soon...maybe tonight! DH and I managed to finish ALL of the Outland dungeons, to get the acheiv for it, so we will move on to LK dungeons now...This will be a first for me, tanking them. I have never tanked a LK dungeon, should be fun!

My rogue has hit 47, and is chugging along. I do love the rogue, and I decided to try out the assasination spec!! WOW...Mutilate is tons of fun and lots of damage...May stick with it for a bit...

So what is everyone else up to?

Hello,

My name is Angela (Joline) and I am a WoWaholic (Dwarf Mage) from Oregon (Stormreaver).

I just found this thread and thought I would stop in to say hello to my fellow players. I have been playing WoW for five years now and I raid casually (2-3 nights a week). My husband and kids also play, but they spend much less time in game than I do. We have made multiple Disneyland trips and are headed to WDW for the first time this October - it was either Disney or Blizzcon and the mouse won. :lmao:

Pleasure to meet you all!

Welcome to the thread. Good choice picking WDW over Blizzcon. WDW is also a much easier ticket to get ahold of ;)

LOL, tonight was a dungeon frenzy with 3 other guildies. We knocked out all 7 for the guild challenges. Anyway, during one of them we had this AWESOME healer ( he knew he was ).... but he DC'd in Stonecore.

So a PUG healer joined us... RIGHT AWAY he called our shadow priest retarded for wanting a mana break with about 50% mana left. We mentioned we were a guild and his responce was "That makes no difference to me. Retarded is retarded".... so he got the boot.

Then we got another PUG healer who was really pleasant, but terrible. But we finished Stonecore.

Next up was Blackrock Caverns. This time we had a solid healer who LOVED being with us, and said we made her job really easy.

Anyway, I ran 7 dungeons..... No purple cloth items dropped in any of them. And all night I won 1 drop, but I got the "Greedy" achievement for it, so I guess it was an OK night. But I won 1 drop and the tank and his wife must have won 30 drops between them.

Having me in your group is like a guarantee you win more drops. :rotfl:

On another note, it won't be much longer before I ask Blizzard to hand me this guild. The GM is nowhere to be found again. I even have his cell number now, but he doesn't answer. :sad2:

Haven't been on DisBoards in ages (seriously, like two years) came back yesterday and found this thread today. A WOW thread on DisBoards - w00t!

I am a fairly new player - after 5 years my husband got me to try the game out back in February. I started out rolling a Pally and got her up to level 80 only to decide I really, really, really do not like melee range.

I had a goblin Mage I rolled to check out the starting area and during Noble garden decided to work on leveling her a bit. I got her up to level 60 and then switched her over to Alliance a few weeks ago. I got sick and tired of the rude people in PUGs on the Horde side. Because I cannot repeat on here the stuff that was said I will just say it was WELL worth the fee to switch her over to Alliance.

So now I my toon is a gnome Mage (Frost) and I have her up to 82. Much happier being back on the Alliance side where my guildies are and where the PUGs are not as rude and foul-mouthed.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned what servers they are on (I only have skimmed the thread so far) but I am on Eitrigg.

Sorry you had such a bad experience with Horde PUGs. I guess I've been very lucky in that I've never had that experience but know others that have.

I'm on Khadgar. My guild contemplated a move to Eitrigg back around the time BC came out. I think it was a new server at the time and Blizz was offering free transfers to help populate it. We passed and stayed put. Glad we did as Khadgar is a decent server with a relatively balanced population and a stable economy.

Welcome!!
I can honestly say that getting tickets to Blizzcon is probably the only vacation that I would take over a WDW. I would have loved to have been at this last one. Oh well, at least I got the pet.

I'm sorry you had so much trouble on the Horde side. I'm on the Ally side and I've been in some pretty nasty pugs. The only reason my DH could get me to do them for a while was b/c I wanted the special pet. I have always had the mentality that if I couldn't get in done in guild, I didn't do it. My main is a gnome mage and I LOVE her!! She is the cutest little gnome with green eyes and green pigtails.

I don't know if y'all read MMO or are pet collectors, but it looks like there will finally be rewards for having 100+ pets. I think my main has right around 130, so I'm going to have to stop doing so much school work and get to pet farming. The reward for having 150 pets is too cool.

My husband was talking to a friend of his and they said on their server it was the Alliance people that were a pack of rude tools and the Horde folks were the helpful ones. Considering PUGs come from all realms who knows what to think - :confused3

My husband also told me our guild used to be on a different server and did the move to Eitrigg when they were offering the free transfers. This is the only server I have known but it seems to be a balanced server between H&A although I think there is a tad more A though.

The economy is good on it - heh, at least for me. I have found my little niche of what sells well; but knowing when to sell is key. I saw an earlier thread about people messing up AH with vast undercutting and I see that on my server too. The key is knowing when to sell on your server it seems. On mine you are going to see the undercutters Tuesday - Friday (mid-day). Come Friday night and thru Monday morning you don't see it. I think this happens because more people are playing on the weekends which means products move faster and there is no chance for severe undercutting to occur.

My 10 year old plays and I won't let him do PUGs on either H or A. I would rather have him in the safety of our guild (it is a family guild also) where I know people will be helpful, not hurtful, and will not be yelling rude things all the time. (And yes, we have the profanity filter on his account).

For me I really do not have a problem with PUGs in general. As my husband told me "These are people from all different realms. You will most likely never see them again so if they are jerks try and ignore it". Considering everyone in our guild is a level 85 (except me, my son and people's alts) PUGs were my main option if I wanted to go into a dungeon.

I haven't done too much pet collection yet. I think I maybe have 2 from quest rewards, a corehound from Authenticator and 2 that someone gave me as gifts. My husband is into collecting different mounts - another thing I have not gotten much into yet. I have my racial mount, the Celestial Pony my husband bought me and my flying carpet from tailoring.

Love, love, love that you have a gnome mage with green hair and green eyes....because that is my girl too! No ponytails - mine is that strange up-do hair, but still in the green.
