Wow, Linnie and Buzz...
You really went overboard with all the cute postcards you sent to our family! One for each day? It's too much! Thank you though!!!

Gosh, I see the error of my "only read updates and skip the chat on Buzz's TR." ways now. Looking forward to more.

I do have to say that I find the Canadian mail system inconvenient, at least in the town I live in. I remember when we lived in Virginia if you needed to mail a letter you would just pop it in your mailbox at your house and they would pick it up when they delivered your mail. Not so here, now you have to find a public mailbox, which is always out of the way. :headache: And no mail on Saturdays, except on days when new Harry Potter books come out, they make an exception to deliver all the books to everybody. The mailmen also don't have their own mail trucks they deliver it all on foot. I guess they are trying to be environmentally friendly. :confused3

My dad was a mailman, a very dedicated one actually, in all of his 30 some years of service he only called in sick once and I remember it vividly. I now have all his pins for safe driving, accumulated sick days, excellent service etc. My dad was a very loyal person and it showed in the career he chose. I have nothing bad to say about the postal service-I know how complicated it is and how challenging it can be.

My dad eventually worked his way up to management and we were all so proud of him, we started calling him "Chief" (my brother's nickname for him) and it stuck with him there after. One of the hymns he chose for his funeral was "Chief of Sinners Though I Be." :goodvibes He had a good sense of humor. Not bad for a guy who dropped out of high school in 1950!!

Wow. Linnie that was nice story about your Dad. :goodvibes He only called in sick once?! Incredible. Hail to the Cheif.

What a great and inspirational story. I admire our postal workers, they work really hard, especially because they have to deliver all the mail on foot. I just wish we could mail letters directly from our house like you can in the States, I'm lazy. ;)

Lessa we get post on Saturdays too and our postmen are nearly all on foot or bicycles, we also don't have mail boxes like you all do but a letter box in our door so the post gets put directly into your house. We have to find a postbox to mail our letters too!!!

Morning Jo, We are kinda spoiled, I guess with our mail system. Those guys are good, but not many like Lin's Dad. I did see a story one time about a guy that worked for Ford his entire adult life without missing a day. For his retirement Ford GAVE him a mustang and the serial number (VIN) on it was 0001.

I wonder why Canada doesn't do mail on Saturday, I feel left out now! ;)
