The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

How many beans does one get for $30?

Around here, bulk Jelly Bellys are $6.99/lb. I think at Disney, they are $9.99 or maybe higher, so $30 likely would get you 2-1/2 to 3 pounds if they are selling them bulk. If they are selling the little bags or boxes of them, you'd get less. Maybe 10 or 15 packs.

I was there on Wednesday. Unfortunately, Harry Potter was not open. However, the Dragon Challenge was. The que took us through part of the land and it looks great. The path was blocked out with a ten foot tall barrier but we could see enough over the fence. The themeing on the Dragon Challenge was very well done. I look forward to hearing Pete’s review of the rest of the area.

I meant it as a bad joke (bean counter). If I recall from previous trips, Mousegears charged for Jelly Belly and French burnt peanuts--- it was like close to $4 a 1/4 pound for the self-service bit. Goofy's candy might be like in the $4-5 range for the family sized bag of jelly beans for not even a half pound of product.

And that's why we bring Jelly Bellys from home when we go to Disney. Either that or we buy them at the Winn Dixie at Formosa Gardens - more than home but less than Disney. Of course, that doesn't include vomit, grass, earwax or any other Harry Potter flavors.

Thanks Pete! I can't wait to hear what you have to say.

I am going next week. Usually when I go to Orlando disney is the center of my thoughts. Now all I can think about is going to Universal and getting butterbeer and Chocolate frogs. :thumbsup2

Thank you for the pics and the video Pete. It's just feeding my excitement.:wizard: I am trying to keep my expectation down but I am looking forward to seeing what I can.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Monday. I looked at the photos and I already could see stroller problems.:goodvibes

I can't wait to hear what Pete has to say about WWofHP. I just can't tell from the pics and videos I've seen so far. My first impressions is that I'm not impressed. I mean, I can see the detail and it looks cool, but not quite as cool as I thought it would be. I'm sure Forbidden Journey is amazing, but the rest of it? :confused3 I don't know. The whole area seems so small and it's mostly shops. I love Harry Potter, but I don't know how much HP stuff I would want to buy. (it would clash with my Disney decor...) Almost since it was announced, I've been saying that HP would finally get me to Universal, but now, from what I've seen so far I'm not so sure.

I thought that it looked very small from the video.

Did anyone else find the people singing with the frogs annoying? I wanted to get a wand and make them....disappear. Argh!

I thought the frogs were pretty cool, but yeah the singing got old pretty quick. Can't imagine standing in the sun very long to watch the whole show.

I read a review from someone who wasn't sure she was going to be able to get in WWofHP because she didn't book the HP package, but she did get in and said she actually cried when she got there, she was that excited. She did not rave about HP world though. It seemed, other than the castle, and the que line for FJ, which she said was amazing, she wasn't all that impressed with the rest of it.

I can't wait to hear Pete's report. I really hope that it's much better than it seems to be so far. I'm wondering how the lines were... We're staying at Hard Rock this summer so I hope our room key let's us bypass some of the lines.

The singing group was an interesting touch, but their hands underneath the pillow were so fake and easy to spot. That was a little off-putting for me. I get the feeling that they are now realizing that there's going to be a huge crowd and very little for them to do in this area of the park. These little shows are being brought in to offset that.

It *does* seem awfully small, and I think that Pete is right. Universal advertising this (or at least implying) that it's a "new park" as the title "Wizarding WORLD" suggests is going to come around and bite them on their backsides...

From what I've seen, the only area designed to handle huge crowds is the queue for the "big ride".

What a new theme park ! Come to Universal and we'll give you plenty of room to line up for five hours... :rolleyes1

Should be interesting to watch... Pass the $30 jellybeans. popcorn::

popcorn:: Looking forward to another great show, Hope you and Walter had a good time, I remember in one of the older shows Walter talking about Hogsmead and called it "Hog-med" :rotfl2: hope you had a good time anyways Jamie

It looks like a lot was taken from the movies as opposed to the books. I'm a big fan of the books but have always thought the movies failed to capture the charm of the books. If someone went there and had not read the books or had only seen the movies I think you would get a different impression then someone who knew and preferred the books. It does look smaller then I had expected too. I'm thinking the new ride is going to pretty much based on the movies, all the character holograms or whatever they are, are played by the movie actors. That doesn't thrill me but I understand why they did that.

Pete's updates on FB have me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait for more...

Its monday!
Can't wait to hear the review...
After all the hype of the last 1+ year, the WWoHP needs to offer a nearly flawless guest experience or Universal will be in deep doodoo!
