We have a stay booked at the WL this December and I have a question about the boats to MK. I've heard a lot about the monorail resorts being convenient with toddlers because you can push the stroller onto the monorail. Our DD will be 19 months when we go and I'm wondering if I can do the same on the ferry to MK. Thanks!

If I recall correctly, I believe 1 of the boats you could "push" on, the other you would have to fold up the stroller and go down 2 or 3 steps. Still very convenient (and so relaxing) for your trip to and from MK\.

When we were there in Sept 08 DS was 9 mos and DD was 5, we used our joovy caboose, basically like a sit and stand stroller-- I think we had 3 different "kinds" of boat to MK-- one we were able to stroll onto, the other two we had to fold up and carry on, but really it was super easy and quick to do. You just hope that you get the "stroll on" boat on the late nights leaving MK or on the party nights when the kiddos have passed out. :wizard:

Hi, all...I'm very excited about our upcoming Disney family reunion. I just wish it was sooner than February, 2010. It's a good thing I'm an obsessive planner; otherwise I'd never make it. :thumbsup2

Anyhoo...we're calling this the Disney Do-over because our last Disney reunion (in October 2006) was hampered when I broke my wrist 10 minutes before we were to leave for WDW. In spite of it, a good time was had by all; but it's basically a blur to me (can you say Lortab?)...so we're giving it another shot. I have it on good authority that I'm going to be securely surrounded by bubble wrap until we get to the resort! :rotfl2:

Sorry...I digress. :rolleyes1

Even though we can't make reservations yet, we're staying at WL (yay!), and I'm so glad to have found this thread because although I've been to WL many times, I've never been a guest there. We'll have six kidlets in tow, ranging in ages from three to 16.

My question is: What sort of kid-friendly activities do they have at WL, especially that will appeal to the younger set: aged three, five and six?

And, How old do you have to be to do the Segway tour of WL?

Thanks in advance for any and all information!

Laura

Both loved the beach and next time I will be sure to send sand beach toys in the box that I send down before hand. (pails, shovels, rakes, molds) Like a giant sandbox and beautiful white sand
DD liked the arcade a few times with her daddy, they love air hockey!
She likes having a disposiable camera of her own to take pics with around the resort of the stuff that she thinks in interesting-- and boy are the pics interesting when you have them printed!
Loved the kids club- even tho she played with the same toys that she has at home the whole time she was there.
She also really liked the Lincoln logs in the WCC the morning we had breakfast there- the place was empty and we could see the table just enough from our table, she played and we were able to enjoy that yummy skillet! ahh the gravy
She also really liked walking around and trying to find the critters- lizards, bunnies and ducks.
And they had a pool party one of the days were there for kids and of course she loved the pool and hte slide.

Could someone staying at WL tell me what the bounce back offer is? We coming in May 2009 and looking to bounce back Nov. 26 - Dec 2 2009. Thanks for any help!

We were there Dec 20th. The bounce back offer in the rooms was for most dates in 2009, but did not include Dec 2009 and did include some black out dates. It was for 30% off deluxe rooms and 40% off villas. You had to book before you left and make a one night deposit. A lady I spoke to at the pool said she called and they gave her the 40% off the "rack rate" of the room for when she was returning in May......all she had to do was ask!!
As for kids activities, they have tours of the WL, find the "hidden Mickey's" and a pool party every day starting at 3pm that the kids loved. Also, I know everyone is looking for a balcony overlooking the ELP, but the kids at the beach were having a blast running around at night and I heard some parents say it was great to have them run off some energy before bedtime. If you are lucky Wishes will be going off and you will have a great view of that too.
Finally, the rooms aren't that big, but I believe they are bigger than POR. They have a table with chairs and a nice patio/balcony also.
Hope that answers some questions!!! You will love it there!!!:dance3:

That is awesome. Why did they upgrade you?

I just booked for WL for August. Looking forward to it. I am hoping to plan a day of just "resort time". I thought we would have fun doing the hidden mickey search and taking a boat out on the lake. What other things would you suggest as "not to miss" for a resort day.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if this question has been answered since I am still reading this thread so I am sorry if it is a repeat :flower3:

Can anyone give me a rough idea how long it will take to get to each park from WL?

Thank you so much :goodvibes

Travel time to the parks differ depending on traffic, but I was there in December. By boat to the MK it was about 10 minutes, by bus it was 5 minutes. Bus to AK was the longest, about 20 minutes. To DTD it was about 20 minutes also. We seemed to take a very long, roundabout way to get there. The driver said they all have GPS on the buses now, so they have to keep to their route, he said there was a shorter way, but he had to "follow the rules". To Epcot and HS about 10-15 minutes. Sometimes on the bus we would stop at Grand Floridian and sometimes we wouldn't, so travel times would differ.
One day we took boat to Contemporary and toured the Christmas decorations, then took the monorail to GF and the Polynesian and toured there also. We then took the monorail from the TTC beside the Polynesian to the Epcot, that was fun and much more pleasant than the bus!!!

If you book a Courtyard View and request a room in the main building (not one of the wings) what are the odds of getting one? It doesn't seem like there are many in that area?

Can someone please tell me where to find WL pool and what a standard room looks like (not the view) photos? I went to the photo thread, but unless I am missing them...I can't find them. Thanks for the help!!!

There are a few pool photos at the thread below.:thumbsup2 I can't help with a view of the standard rooms though.:confused3 I believe photos 10, 10a, 10b & 10c are what you are lokking for.

Hello All. Just returned last night from our week at the lodge. Had a wonderful time, ate too much (as usual), and I need a vacation from my vacation (again, as usual!). Will try to post trip report as soon as I can, but suffice to say that the weather was great, had some cool nights where we needed a jacket, had rain one day for about an hour or so, but all in all it was wonderful. Took lots of pictures which I will also try to get posted this weekend. Tomorrow it's back to work :scared1: and today it's laundry, laundry, laundry........
