I can't believe how much closer our trip seems now that the christmas chaos is over! I have the big stuff planned (thanks to disboards) and now I'm working on the smaller details.

we have a 7:25am ADR at chef mickey's :scared1: , what is our best bet to get there on time from WL? It will be the first morning of our first trip, so we will be new to all the transportation options.

thanks for your help!

How wonderful! We'll be at the WL in about 2 1/2 weeks - I can't wait!

For your question, my best suggestion would be to take a cab from the WL to the CR. It might cost about $10 but to me it is worth it to save time and for the pure convenience. Otherwise, you would need to get up early, take a bus to the Magic Kingdom, then the monorail or walk to Contemporary. On vacation, I'm all about convenience! Whatever way you choose to get there, I hope you enjoy the breakfast - it is very fun and yummy food!! :goodvibes

Other than a cab you could also take the boat from the WL to the contemporary (blue flag launch). This boat starts doing rounds at 6:45 am.

I'd call and double-check when the boat starts running. We were at the Lodge last Feb., and the boat wasn't running until much later. (I think 8, or maybe 9?) Since anne928's trip is in early Feb., she may run into the same situation.

We never did take the boat over to the Magic Kingdom, it left too late for us and we ended up taking the bus each time.

thanks to everyone for the clarification on the courtyard rooms. I was on the South wing last time and really enjoyed it so I will call this eve and request an upper floor south wing inner courtyard and cross my fingers for something good! Quick question for all you vets...I was almost at the very end by Bay Lake on our trip and whenever we wanted to get to the pool or boat docks, we had to walk all the way back to the center of the hotel, go down through the lobby and then out to the boats (there was a staircase right outside our door but I couldn't take it as we were on fifth floor with a stroller). Just curious if you are close to the Lake in the north wing if there are any additional elevators that might be easier for you to walk to your room from the pool/boat docks? It was a good ten minute hike to our room from the boat and on the nights when DD was tired and cranky, it was a pretty long walk! Also, those of you who have stayed before, do you tend to request the same wing, or just request inner courtyard and see what you get? Those of you who have stayed in both wings, inner courtyard, which wing do you prefer and why?

Can anyone tell me a good location to request (standard view) for 2 little ones. My DD is a very light sleeper...so a quiet area would be preferred. Thanks...Can't wait for our 1st trip to WDW and WL!!!

:goodvibes I like the idea of being able to take the boat to the CR, then walking the path to the MK! Does this work well?

I did this in Sept for an 8:10 ressie at CP. I think we boarded the boat to the CR around seven am, then walked over to the MK from the CR. The walk itself was no more than ten minutes from the boat dock and I even got to wave to some of the WL CM's who were driving in to work :) It was a nice way to start the morning, and low stress. We had plenty of time to waste while waiting to be let into the MK :)

We have light sleepers too. I have not been yet, but we were told to request 5th floor Northwing since that was the quietest area.

I just looked through the WL room view thread and I'm getting a little nervous about shelling out the extra $$ for a courtyard view. Not all courtyard views are created equal...I assumed all rooms in the inner courtyard could see the EWP at night from their balconies, but many rooms on the north wing seem to be blocked by those large trees by the water...Why do I have to keep looking at pictures????

And, How old do you have to be to do the Segway tour of WL?

16 is the minimum age for either of Segway tours.

The Segway Tour starts & ends at Fort Wilderness rather than the Lodge. You will likely get to tour on the path from FW to WL and a short tour around the Lodge area.

I did the FW tour one trip and then the Epcot tour the next trip and loved them both. Well worth the $ :lovestruc

Just wanted to share my excitement with all of you - I will be at WL in 20 days for the first time!!!! :goodvibes

I also wanted to thank you all for the great advice on this thread. I was able to find a lot of useful information the past few months (and ALMOST managed to read every page).

I know you receive lots of questions about room views but I was hoping you could tell me if I made a good request. I have a courtyard view and asked to overlook Bay Lake with an open balcony. Views are very important to me as one of my favorite things to do at WDW is sit on the balcony with coffee in the morning and wine in the evening. I am looking for a quiet room as well. Did I make a good choice? I know this isn't guaranteed but it is always worth a shot!

Can anyone tell me where to find pictures of the pool and standard view rooms at WL? :worship:

We are thinking of doing this in just 12 days! How often do the boats go? Is there a "set schedule" or should we just show up around 715ish and hope for the best? Don't want to be there too early. We have a 810 ADR @ CRT on the 20th and a 805 ADR @ CP on the 28th. How long is the boat ride from WL to the Contemporary?

there's no set schedule unfortunately. We went down to the dock and the boat just happened to be there waiting. It takes about 5 minutes to get to the CR. I think if you're down there around 715ish you'll be fine. Even if you have to wait 15 minutes or so, you'll still have plenty of time to get to the MK. If you're a little early, you could always hop on the monorail from the CR and "kill time" that way :)

Can anyone tell me how large the WL rooms are? We've enjoyed large rooms at other deluxe resorts...looking at the WL photo thread, the rooms look smallish, comparable to POR. I know it could be the camera angle, so I thought it best to ask the experts.

I really want to stay at WL...in fact, the whole gang (all 16 of us) is looking forward to it...but a small-sized room could be a dealbreaker.

Thanks!

The standard rooms at the WL & AKL are the smallest of the deluxes. Check out the 1st page of this thread for room layouts. The size of the room is closer in comparison to the mods. However, the rest of the resort ammenities more than makes up for the smallish rooms :lovestruc
