I am a little confused as to where the room locations are. The woods views are on the North/Mk side right? There is inner courtyard and villa courtyard. Then there is standard view which is arounf the lobby....is this correct? Reason being I am looking for a room that is around the lobby, not on the first floor and with an ok view. What are those rooms called that are above the check in desk and WCC? Thanks!!!!

This link should help you a bit:

I have been told that the inner courtyard view is a nice centrally located room with a decent view so that is what I am requesting for our trip in December.

YEAH!!!!! I just booked the WL courtyard for our trip! I used the room only discount and it was only $200.00 more than the rack rate standard ressie at POFQ I was going to book.

I am soooo excited!!! I love the WL and this trip will be amazing for my mother.

tinkerrn, how do I find the room only discount? I'm planning on going in late February, and I haven't seen any discounts yet.

Thanks,
Mark

This time after hours of analyzing the WL threads...we decided to try "Woods View" for a change of scenery, we usually get Courtyard View. We got to the WL, the room wasn't ready yet. Waited a few hours (relaxed at the pool)...called the number and get the room number...open the door and we see...the Courtyard. :lmao:

So we got upgraded.

Any other time I would have been :woohoo: but this time I was

Oh well, one day I will see the otter pond.

I was so excited today when I got the mail. I received a PIN code for some dates this fall and early winter. I can't go, but very excited. Everyone talks about PIN codes and now I've got one too!

Sorry I just had to tell someone. :wizard:

Hi all! I wanted to chime and give thanks to all of the posters on this board. Don't think I asked any specific questions, but all the knowledge was invaluable. Here's my mini-TR on just the WL:

Our only request was king bed, and we got it! First floor, pool view, and handicap-accessible. My DH was at first disappointed that we didn't have a balcony, but the 2-person "walk-in" shower changed his attitude! Not that we had any time for a patio/balcony anyway.

When we checked in, my DH asked the CM if our room was quiet, and she gave us an odd look and mumbled something. That looked like a bad omen to me, esp. when we looked out the window onto the pool! But there was barely anyone in our hallway, and I don't think either room on each side of us was occupied. We couldn't even hear the kids playing at the pool. One time, we heard a CM with a megaphone and some music, but only for one hour. Honestly, if we hadn't seen other "Do Not Disturb" hangers on other doors, we wouldn't have known anyone was in our hallway at all.

The sensored fans in the bathroom were a bit annoying, but nothing we couldn't handle. And there was a card in the bathroom that said if we wanted to keep our towels, to please hang them over the shower rod. We tried that, and they replaced them. No matter where we hung them/put them, they replaced them every day. Not sure what we were doing wrong. Not a big deal, though. And it bothered me a little that they turned on our light every night. I'm sure that was so we don't trip over anything, and to make it look homey, but I was raised in a house where it was practically a mortal sin to leave lights on in an unused room, so I wished they hadn't done that. But this is me just being nitpicky. I really absolutely loved the WL, and would love to come back (not sure if that will ever happen, as I live on the Left Coast and Disneyland is just much more convenient).

Roaring Forks had decent food that we enjoyed, if not a lack in variety. Our best decision was to buy the refillable mugs, though my DH wished every day we could use it in the parks as well. (By the way, Roaring Forks was rather small, so even when there were few people, everyone kept running into us, and watch out for running kids and strollers!) Our second day we had breakfast there, and my DH asked what we could get on the dining plan for breakfast. The CM told him a plate of food (those breakfast platters), a drink, and a dessert! I was like, no way, they do not offer dessert with breakfast, that's ridiculous. We didn't want dessert, so they said we get a non-alcoholic beverage (we both chose waters) and a juice. We also had our mugs, so we each walked away with 3 beverages. Which is utterly ridiculous, IMO. My DH drank both OJs, and we saved the bottled waters for the parks, and then I had tea and he had Diet Coke (do you think they'd offer a refillable IV for his arm? lol).

The boats were awesome, my favorite mode of transportation. The water parade was NOTHING what I expected, and to be honest, kind of lame (at least for us adults, and we are adults that are usually easily amused). No matter how many times we walked past the geyser, it never erupted (and I've since learned it erupts on the hour, so I guess it was bad timing on our part). And the first night we got there, I wanted so badly to soak in the hot tub, but I have a mild fear of people, so I refused to strip down to my bathing suit in front of all those people and kids and squeeze in the hot tub with all those people. Then, I remembered hearing about the VWL pool that is nearby and quieter, and we walked around the building to find it. It wasn't that far from our room, in fact, and very few people, and none in the hot tub. We also found a little frog friend that kept me company on the edge of the spa. That was the only time we went near the pool areas.

Whispering Canyon is my favorite restaurant! We had only one reservation, but after we ate there, we booked another dinner and breakfast. The skillets were amazing, and I crave that food. Guess it helps that I'm a meat and potatoes girl. On the other side, my DH wasn't that impressed, but I think that's because he's a picky eater, so most of that stuff he wouldn't eat. The first dinner we were in the back corner (over-looking the pin cart) and it was perfect for us honeymooners. The second dinner we were literally seated next to the reservation desk, and it was wild and loud, but I loved it, too. Breakfast was a much calmer affair, even though we were still in the main dining room. My DH wanted me to include here that he did not like our breakfast waitress, but when asked for details, he said she took forever bringing out his second orange juice. In fact, she had forgotten, and instead brought it in a coffee to-go cup so he could take it with him. He said if it weren't for the fact we had free dining, he wouldn't have left a tip, which I think is an overreaction to a simple mistake. But I thought I'd be fair and not give only my opinion. I would eat there again, and again, and again. And the ketchup bit was freakin' hilarious, even after the tenth time we witnessed it.

Whoa, so my mini-TR turned out to be rather long. If you've read this long, you must be into the little details much as I am. I just want everyone to get as much info as possible to help plan their trip, as I got from this board. All I can say to those upcoming trips... I'm jealous! Take me with you!!

P.S. We had a flyer for bounceback next fall (can't remember specific dates, but from what I remember, it was similar to this year). I told my DH what it was all about. But since this vacation was "once in a lifetime" for us, I knew we wouldn't be coming back so soon, if ever. While we loved almost every minute of our unforgettable honeymoon, there are so many places in the world to see, and limited funds to see it all. Besides, we live so close to Disneyland, and my DH hates flying so far, we'll probably stick around here for a good while. But for those wondering if it was there... it was.

My family is going to be going to WL for the first time on November 29th. I need all the help I can get from anyone here. We are staying club level so if anyone can tell me about the food selections there that would be great. I have a picky eater and my dad is diabetic. Also, what room view should I request? I would really like to see all of the courtyard so what would the vets suggest is the best? I am going through DU and need to let her know my request before we finalize all of the details. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Bolgers, I saw that you just got back, any tips that you would ike to share with me? Thanks!!

I just booked a bounceback vacation for next year with free dining at the Poly. We normally stay at one of the values but decided to splurge for next year. We usually rent a car because we have a 4 yo and don't like waiting for the buses. However, it is always such a pain getting to and from the Magic Kingdom. It takes up to an hour between leaving our resort and actually entering the park. The reason we chose the Poly was due to the convenience of the monorail.

I have been looking at prices for the Wilderness Lodge and found we can save quite a bit of money by staying there instead of the Poly. My question is, how frequent are the boats to the MK and how long do they take to get there compared to taking the monorail from the Poly?

We just planned our first trip to the Wilderness Lodge for January 2010!! I am so excited!!! It will be me and my husband, our daughter Ava who will be celebrating her first birthday during the trip, and my mom and dad who have never been to Disney!! We can't wait!!! I can't wait to read this entire thread!

We stayed at WL in August and used the boats all the time to get to MK. They come really frequently - we never had to wait more than 10 minutes and if one boat's full they send another immediately. It's a short trip of about 5 - 10 minutes and very picturesque. We used the boats to get to Epcot too - boat to MK then monorail to Epcot. However the buses are definitely quicker - just a couple of minutes from WL to MK.

We booked the WL last Dec. for that exact same reason..we LOVE the Poly, but were able to save quite a bit of $$$ at WL. I'm soo glad we did!!! The boat to MK was pretty quick and a fun way to get there. We did miss the monorail to Epcot, BUT we had breakfast at Chef Mickeys in the CR on one of our Epcot days...we took the boat over to the CR and then hopped on the monorail from there.
We now love both the WL and the Poly...they are both completely different feels, but you can't go wrong with either. I will say that we had the best customer service EVER at the WL....Everyone, from the front desk CM's to mousekeeping, to even the maintenance guys were so friendly and wanting to make our stay as magical as possible.

I know you will have a fun vacation no matter what you decide!!!

I will try and be some help to you!!!:goodvibes
For your room view, make sure you request inner courtyard on your reservation. We have always been very lucky with our requests and they have been granted every time, so hopefully you get a courtyard view!!!

There is never really a set menu and we asked one of the CM's and they said, it all depended on the Chef of what he was in the mood for. But everything was YUMMY!!This is what they had when we were there:

Weds:Minestone Soup and Pork Loin with Apples, Onions and Peppers

Evening Desserts were also the same every night with the exception of the hot cobbler. But each night there was:
*sugar and choc chip cookies
*brownies
*magic bars
*cobbler (apple or berry)
*4 types of liqueurs
*3 types of wines

There was also always big bottles of water out all day. And if you ever needed anything that you didn't see, all you have to do is ask a CM and they will try and get it for you!! They are the best up there!!! After your reservation is made, the IPO should contact you soon thereafter and they will help you with whatever you need!!!

I hope to have been some help!!!:)

We spent a night here a few years ago and loved it.
Originally we were booked at CSR but in Nov they're starting renovations to upgrade a building to club level and I didn't want to see and hear construction.
Last night I was doing a search and just fell in love all over again with the WL, so we now have 2 rooms Courtyard view for 11/19-11/26! I read the opening post and I have requested inner courtyard off the looby, so I have my fingers crossed.
Is there any good info that I should know? I'm so super excited!!!!!!

I just booked the bounceback for next year at Pop. My neighbour who also went the same time as me also booked the bounceback.

He said that he was talking to a CM and it would be cheaper for us to stay at the WL in a suite. I just can't believe that it would be cheaper. There would be 3 adults and 3 kids. I was looking at the floor plans and the only one I would be happy with is the two bedroom suite/villa. Is it possible that it would be cheaper than staying at Pop in two rooms?

Could they be talking about a deluxe room? I don't think it would be cheaper though.

No idea. All I know is we definately need two bathrooms. Maybe he got WL and FW mixed up!
