The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

We just returned from the Contemporary and I had ordered the chocolate monorail for my husband. Is there anything like this available at WL from private dining?

I am confused - when I booked my reservation today with WDW, the lady said that my room would be on the 6th floor. I thought I saw on this site somewhere that all standard club level rooms are on the 7th floor???

Can anyone clear that up for me? I am asking because I want to ask for a possible fireworks view like room 7052 that was posted. Here's what my reservation confirmation reads:

09/26/2008

Hotel
Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Standard Room - Club Level (JD)

This will be my first WL stay since the Contemporary was booked (our fave).

Thanks for the help! :flower3:

The reservation personnel cannot be specialists in every resort, even if there were standard club level room on 6 (which I have never seen any mention of) room assignments that are not a specific separate category are handled by the resort so CRO would not know which room you would be in.

IF you ask for a smokehose view (north) side room you should have a fireworks view and many have a good castle view.

We just got back from the Lodge and had room 5167..... FANTASTIC view!!! WOW what a great stay! We could see the fireworks from our balcony.

Having just come back from there, I would say no to the ECV on the blue flag boat. They are little. If you look at the picture of them, I don't see where you put the ECV, let alone get it on the boat from the dock. They dock a little lower than the bigger Red flag boats. I almost always had to step up to the dock from the boat.

Thank you for that input. That's exactly what I was looking for. :goodvibes

I'm confused about the postings of the red vs blue flag boats. I was just there last week and the red flag boat loads on the left side of the dock. The red flag goes back and forth to the MK. There were two kinds of boats for the red flag, a smaller ferry that you stepped down into and I would have to fold my stroller for that one. The larger cruiser I could roll right onto the ferry and it had much more room. The blue flag boats load on the right hand side of the dock and go to the Contemporary and Fort Wilderness. I only saw the smaller ferries for the blue flags. If you are in an ECV, you could just wait a little bit for the bigger red flag cruiser to come by. When I was there the first week of September, the MK was dead and the boats would come every 10 minutes, I rarely waited longer than five :) Good luck, and you will love the WL!

So would you say that we are pretty much guaranteed a Red Flag launch for the WL/MK trip? I had read that they sometimes have the Blue Flag boats on the route and I was afraid that they didn't also run the Red Flag launches while the Blue Flags were on the WL/MK route. I'll be OK as long as they always have at least one Red Flag launch running and will just go a little earlier to wait.

Sorry for being so pedantic. DH and I are not planning to use any bus transport since I will have my own scooter and we don't want to be stuck waiting for a bus that can accommodate the ECV. I would like to take the boat to the MK, thus eliminating the need to drive to at least one park.

I appreciate everyone's input!

Too funny, I got back two weeks ago and was in room 5165...right next door and also enjoyed the fireworks and EWP from the balcony every night :) What a view. If I can figure out how to load my pics somewhere, I'll try to post them :)

Shauna, I can only go by my experience, which was two weeks ago. We rode the boats back and forth from the MK for five days at least two to three times a day. The blue flag boats only went to the Contemporay/Ft Wilderness. If you are going to MK, you can only take a red flag boat to get there. Whether it is a smaller boat or the cruiser (larger boat), is anyones guess but usually they are about 10 minutes behind each other so you probably wouldn't have to wait too long for a cruiser. I'd say we got the larger boat 70% of the time. So just stand on the left side of the pier marked Red flag/MK and you'll be set to wait for your cruiser. Same thing on the MK side back to the WL. The signs are clearly marked. You will always be looking for the RED flag when traveling between the WL and the MK. I hope this helps clarify :)

I will be staying at WL AGAIN in Feb.:thumbsup2 I had such a great time LAST Feb. that I can hardly wait to be there again this Feb. 09!;) now...waiting for those Codes to come out!

Hi! This is great info. Thank you. I just have 2 quick questions.

1. I just upgraded to WL. And we are coming in at the end of Sept (our flight gets in at 1:40) and taking ME to WL and then are hoping to get out to DS as soon as we can. How long do you think it will take us to get to WL? And is it realistic to expect to get to DS by 4PM?

2. What is our best way of getting to MK by rope drop? The bus or taking the boat to Contemporary and then hopping the monorail from there? If we left WL at 8 am would we be at MK by 8:30?

Thank you so much!

We are also staying at the WL in February (5th-12th). This will be our first time there and we are so excited! We presently have 2 standard rooms with a AAA room discount. What code are you referring to? I would love to save a little bit more money if possible. Also, where are the standard rooms located? Do they have a view of anything? Also, are the beds comfortable? :confused3 Thanks for any help that you can give me!:goodvibes

It will probably take you about an hour to get to WL. I think you can definitely get to HS around 4.

Thank you so much!

The bus would be your best bet. It goes direct to MK, no stops. There is also a direct boat to MK..no need to take the boat to the Contemporary and take the monorail.

I would get to the bus stop by 7:45 just in case. Buses seem to run less frequently in the morning. Same thing with the boat...I'd actually go to the docks at 7:30 to get to MK by 8:30 just to be sure. I'm a hurry up and wait kind of girl though..don't like to take any chances.

I've searched through a lot of this thread and can't seem to find the answer to my question:
When do the holiday decorations go up at WL? We are going to be at WL on Nov 14 and I'm hoping to get to see all the decorations that I've heard so much about! Thanks!

Thanks for the clarification. I realized after reading my post that I didn't make sense when asking my question and you were STILL able to give me the answer I needed.

I was just hoping for confirmation that they always run a big boat on the red flag route even when they are running a little boat also and it sounds like they do from your response. We will just plan to get there a little earlier so we have time to wait as needed for the big boat.

Thank you! :flower3:

Just got back from WL today :sad2: Hated to leave! Everyone on this thread has been right on the money when it comes to how wonderful it is to stay there!
Everyday we left the parks in the afternoon and enjoyed the "quiet" pool at the villas. The one day it was an "adult" pool as there were no kids in. I have nothing against kids (please don't think that, I have two great kids of my own). Most days the kids were in the main pool because of the games they play with them. The life guards are so interactive with them! That was great to see!
Everyone was so nice! I know its their job to be "nice", but it seemed genuine! It's so relaxing, and laid back:snail: . It was perfect for our 25th Anniversary celebration!!! :love2: Now the only issue...I can't imagine anyplace else to spend my vacation!!:flower3:
Thanks to all of the WL lovers!!!:lovestruc

We are counting down to start our trip at the WL this Wednesday:banana:

Can anyone tell me how the crowds have been looking? We missed the free dining plan period, but I'm hoping it's better because of it.

Thansk!
