I want to say the room number was 4633 or 4533 but I am not sure. We were only there for one night at the VWL this trip before we transferred to the WL. We didn't have a balcony off our room, but here is the view.

there was a post about size of the refridge at WL-- and someone even posted a picture. But fyi- our refridge didn't have an ice part-- freezer? It would have helped carry water bottles 1/2 frozen to the parks...

Ok... after stressing about what to request I asked for first floor near the pool with the intentions of being able to walk right out of our room to the pool area. I booked courtyard view bunk bed rooms. My DH is a smoker, so I figured he could scoot over to the DSA by the pool bar and it would come in handy just to get to the pool without having to go through the resort. Now after reading a few post back I feel like we will be crawling through bushes if we want to leave our patio area.... can anyone tell me what the patios are like? I would just assume get a room higher up with a balcony if we can't walk off of it!

A few years ago when my kids were younger we stayed in the WL on the ground level. Sliding glass door opened to patio and we were able to walk right out to pool. There were bushes there, but there was space between the bushes to walk. This was really convenient because the kids were so little. I don't remember the room number but it was in the 1st floor wing where the laundry room was and near Roaring Forks.

I found some pictures on the WL photo thread. I'm sure there are more to look at that will help you feel better about picking a ground level room if you look....but here are a few....

Picture showing ground level rooms in the southwing (across from Roaring Forks). The northwing has more bushes.

Room 1017 on the ground floor, convenient to the boat dock and laundry and Roaring Forks and the pool right out of the patio.

Thank you so much for posting those pictures, I have spent the morning going through the photo threads myself. I am not going to change my request... I am going to just wait and see what happens. It looks as though we will be fine, and DH will be able to scoot out of the patio over to the DSA at least.

The DSA is located behind the Trout Pass Pool Bar, so adding South Wing of the Lodge will make it easier for DH to reach the smoking area without having to walk around the pool.

I have a quick question before I go to make my Dec. 09 booking.

It sounds like the WL buses also stop at Poly & GF on their way to the other parks. Are WL guests allowed to use those buses to get to those resorts? Like, if we have an ADR at 'Ohana or 1900 Park Fare, could we use the EPCOT bus to get there?

We will be checking in in 24 hours (hopefully early, we arrive in Orlando at 9:40) so I'm not sure if I should call the main # to add that or the resort itself or just wait and see what happens.... I think I might just wait and see where they put us at this point, a little excercise will be good for DH and he has almost completely quit, he just has a few cigarettes a day now.

We were on the 1st floor in May, and in theory we COULD walk out of our patio to the pool, but there were bushes and landscaping so we decided not to do that because we didn't want to mess that up. We were literally 10 seconds from Roaring Forks, so we just walked out those doors instead.

Thanks for this information. I think we may still opt for a 1st floor room, even if we choose to go through the lobby to get to the pool, due to the landscaping and bushes.

I am thinking the same thing. How fast or crowded are the elevators. We are also considering one of the "Bear Face" rooms, but are concerned that this may be take more time than it is worth in the elevators. My son is in a wheel chair, so we just can't squeeze into a small spot in a full elevator. We have never been to this resort, so I have no idea how large the elevators are, how full they get, or if you need to wait a long time for them.

What have other guests experience been with the elevators?

Not to worry. The elevators at WL are the fastest I have ever been on. they are a class act. You will loose no time using them. I am in a scooter and they are very large as well.

You should have no problem with this. We used the bus to get to our early morning Photo Pass Session at the Grand Floridian. Just make sure to check with the driver first to make sure he's going where you are, especially going to the Poly..I don't remember the busses stopping there as often as they stopped at the Grand Floridian or Ft Wilderness.

I'm just having a terrible time deciding between the convenience of the Polynesian and the more moderate price and ambience of the Wilderness Lodge. It's not like me to be so stymied! I'm usually very decisive!

We are finally booked for December of 09. We booked a standard room. Would you make any special requests in a standard room or would you just be surprised with what they give you?

My brother coming with us is a WDW first-timer. He is an annual passholder for WDL. I want this vacation to be very special for him. He is 40 by the way, so he likes beauty more than excitement. I considered a Woodsview, but we all opted not to pay for the upgrade. But I was thinking of perhaps a certain room could add to his experience, I would like to make that request for him.

The only thing I could think of that might be good is a certain floor or perhaps a lobby view.

Would love to hear your opinions.

I think we met Ranger Stan at 8:15am. Only downside to being Flag Family...if there is one...is that you won't be able to make it to the parks at rope drop.

It looks like an amazing experience - but for us, we would miss breakfast ADRs. Our first trip, so I planned character meals most mornings. Most mornings they are early, one morning we do have one at 10:05, but I would think the chances of being picked + the chances of it being that one particular day would be slim.

We recently returned from a trip to WL. (Okay it was almost two weeks ago but I've been busy.) We absolutly loved it! I can see why so many people choose to go back there again and again. We are already planning a return visit for 2009. Everything about the resort was magical. We ate at WCC twice. (Breakfast and Dinner) I loved the boats to and from MK and CR and FW. We were on the fourth floor North Wing. Not the most incredible view as it was over the service area and you could see the smokehouse out back (Which is why we ate at WCC twice. It smelled wonderful.) but we got to watch Wishes every night from our room and we could see the monorail travel by from time to time. Next time we go we are planning two days at the resort instead of our usual one day. Our vacations keep getting better and better every time and WL was definetly worth the extra money we paid to stay there. If anyone is hesitating about WL, don't. I hope to become a repeat customer very, very soon.
