I have a question I didn't see answered in the first few pages...

While looking at other than Disney resorts I found this on one of those pages

SELF PARKING FEE: $15.00 USD per night payable directly to the hotel at check-in. Rate subject to change without notice.

Do Disney resorts have this? I will be surprised with an extra fee when checking in?

 Nice to see you away from "home"! :rotfl:

Anyway, Disney resorts have free self-parking. Valet is $10 per day.

When is your trip?

I really dislike when hotels add fees - resort fee, parking fee, gee you get to stay here fee. :rotfl2:

I didn't remember one from 2006, but didn't know if policy changed.

We arrive at the Lodge on August 18th. :woohoo:

Hey! Wanted to pop in and say hello!! Hope that all is well with everyone.

What happened to the Humphrey thread?

We'll be back at the world again in December for MouseFest.

Well, look who's back!!!

Hi Fred.

I was just saying to Beckie that we haven't heard from you in a while.

Hope all is well.

I'm so sorry for posting this. I know we discussed this, but the search function's not working for me and I just can't remember where exactly.

I know that we discussed being able to view the Magic Kingdom fireworks from inside the Lodge. I believe it was on the sixth floor, but, Beckie, if you wouldn't mind reposting your wonderful directions, I would soooooo appreciate it!:goodvibes

I'm not sure what Becky's were, but we lucky enough to have a room by the windows that have the view.

Take the elevator by Roaring Forks (the laundry room is right across the way) and go the sixth floor. When you come out you can only turn left to the hallway. Turn left again and you will see the windows.

Hope this helps. :)

Thank you so much! I'm beginning to put together a trip binder, and was missing this crucial piece of info! Since my DS didn't like fireworks last year, we're not sure what the reaction will be this time around. It will be so great to have an alternative viewing spot!:goodvibes

Don't go to San Francisco! We got our hotel rooms in Union Square on Hotwire for two nights for $160. Parking for both nights? $80. :scared1:

It's like that all over the place here. That's why I don't mind paying the $10 Disney charges for valet. My pocket thanks me.

Yep ::yes:: Beckie goes to the same place...

Many rooms on the North side of the North Wing may have good viewing during Wishes, if your not located in one of these rooms, there is still a way to see the fireworks.

You need to walk over to the North Wing where there are large windows located on each floor with beautiful shutters, these are located just around the corner from the elevators that are located half-way down the North Wing.

If you are on the first floor they are just down from Roaring Fork so take the elevator up to the sixth floor then take a left and you will see the windows.

You may open these shutters to view the fireworks from this location. Of course the 7th floor would only be for guest staying Club Level but the views are just as good from the 6th or 5th floors.

I have even meet several DIS'ers while watching from this location.

Just another tip, although a crazy one. Watching the fireworks are great from those windows, but there is no soundtrack. Well, my crazy husband creates his own.

When we stay at the Lodge and can't make it into the Magic Kingdom for the fireworks here is what we do.

We pretty much have all the tracks to the fireworks, even the special events. He downloads the music to his laptop. We bring the laptop to the windows and then have it set to play. When we see the first spark, we start the music!!! It works out perfectly. Especially when they had HallowWishes. The last time, we had a nice crowd and were thanked by parents because it made the little ones very happy. You get the music but not the loud booms some small ones don't like. Just fun!!

Hey I know you're busy with MagicMeets in just a few days.

Humphrey's Home was closed when the DIS purged all the older threads over 250 pages, this happened over six months ago. I was working franticly trying to save all the information on this thread. So it was closed and since the new post on that thread had all but stopped I thought we could all keep in touch on this thread. :confused3

While I am going to try and visit the Lodge during December it will be later in the month after MouseFest. Have a get trip and enjoy your time at the Lodge.

There have been a few changes at the Lodge since your last visit check out the 1st page for all the new information.

Beckie

Now a question about room requests, we are booked into a deluxe room. Do any of those rooms come with Wishes views? For those who have stayed in them (or just those in the know) what would you suggest requesting as far as area/level of the resort for a room request? :confused3
Jaycns

The following post was made a few days ago by Desparatelydisney. I then added the information to the first page, 2nd post What room request should I make?
I thought I would let everybody know that we just stayed in deluxe room 5000. Even though the concierge CM walking us to our room said we would not be able to see the fireworks, we had a beautiful (although distant) view of Cinderella Castle from the bedroom window and could see the fireworks from the bedroom window and the bedroom balcony. My little girl spent hours on a chair staring out the window.

Sorry that the picture is blurry but you get the idea...

P.S. We quit "hearing" the boat horns after just a couple of hours. I guess we just got used to it because with three little guys I am a pretty light sleeper.
Deluxe Room located in the North Wing:
Ten of these rooms are located at the very end of the North Wing, they will have a woods view very close to the dock with an obscured view of Bay Lake. Some guests have said the horns from the motor cruisers and motor launches coming and going from the docks have disturbed them. The room #’s would be 1000, 1003,
2000, 2003, 3000, 3003, 4000, 4003, 5000 and 5003. (*NOTE: From Suite 5000 you are able to see the Castle and WISHES fireworks from the bedroom window and bedroom balcony. This may change at any time as those tress keep growing every year. Haven't received any reports from Suite 4000 or 3000 but it might be possible)

Beckie, thank you so much for reposting your directions.

And I love Dizneykid's suggestion about playing the music, how awesome is that?

I love this thread, I learn so much great stuff here. Thanks, guys!:goodvibes

Hi all,
Well, I did it, I booked a room only woods view, requested upper floor, north side for late January '09 so I'm pretty excited yet nervous about that price they quoted me. Hopefully it can come down a bit in the future. Thanks to all you WL vets for your postings, it helps. I have only stopped in very briefly about 12 years ago into the lobby to see the WL, so I'm excited to be able to spend some more quality time there. This time there will be two children in tow (ages 8,5) can't wait!!! :yay:
