The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

We are staying at WL for 10 days in July, then transferring to the Disney Cruise Line. My question is.....does anyone know what time the Disney bus arrives and takes you to the port? Is it an early transfer, or will we be kicking up our heels hanging around waiting for the transfer?
Just planning ahead!!
Thanks

Does anybody know if there are 7th floor rooms overlooking the lobby. I can't remember if the concierge lounge wraps all the way around the lobby or if there are rooms on one side. If not, what would the closest concierge rooms be?

There are four guest rooms located off the Lobby on the 7th floor. Two on each side they are the four Honeymoon Suites. :love:

PLEASE NOTE: Make sure you wash out your coffee maker, the reservoir and also the carafe. I noticed they get dusty from lack of use.

Another tip: They put the coffee makers on the ledge above the sink. I usually move it to the top of the dresser that contains the refrigerator. There is a plug there and makes it very convenient for us. I keep my supplies in the top drawer. :coffee:

Great tips! I love the idea about moving the coffee pot to the dresser. Thank you!

I would appreciate if anyone knows the location of the garbage room at the villas. Very soon we will be there. We haven't stayed at the lodge since joining DVC.

I'm posting the link that shows the room lay-outs over at the Villas, if you click on the link below you can see where the Trash and service elevators are located, it's just around the corner from the Atriam.

Enjoy your stay,
Beckie

Thank you. I figured it was on that link. For some reason my home computer won't let me look at that link. I check it out tomorrow at work ;). Thank you for repeating yourself.

We stayed in the HM suite last month. I'm confused....are you saying the only rooms on the 7th floor were the HM suites? Or the only rooms that overlook the lobby on the 7th floor are the honeymoon suites? I didn't pay any attention to doors when we were there :confused3

I'm saying that there are only four rooms located off the Lobby on the 7th floor, and that these four rooms are the Honeymoon suites.

There are many rooms on the 7th floor but they aren't located off the Lobby, they are located either on the North or South side of the Lodge.

Now for some Lodge trivia years go when the Wilderness Lodge first opened they didn't have a Club Level or Concierge Level. Disney was trying something different so no Concierge Lounge was designed. After the guest started requesting concierge services the 7th floor was converted to the Club Level. Then a few years ago a new Old Faithful Club Room was added next to the Honeymoon Suites on the south side of the Lobby.

Before they converted the 7th floor to concierge level, when newlywed guests stayed at the Lodge they would try and assign them to the 7th floor for more privacy.

No wonder it was so quiet! I didn't pay any attention to where all the people where going or coming from when they went to and from the lounge! No wonder it was nice a quiet in our room! There was no people traffic! Thanks for clearing that up for me :goodvibes

I have a question about concierge level. I have only stayed in the south wing on the seventh floor, is there a seperate lounge/food/cm desk area in the north wing or just the one near the south wing?? Thank you.

There is only one check-in area for concierge, and one lounge on the 7th floor.

There is only one of everything and the lounge overlooks the lobby.

Thanks, Beckie.

That certainly explains the layout of the concierge area. It has always seemed odd to me that they have such a great lounge but the CMs have such a cramped space and the Old Faithful Club area seems like a galley kitchen. Everything else in the lodge is so spacious...except for that area.

I thought I would let everybody know that we just stayed in deluxe room 5000. Even though the concierge CM walking us to our room said we would not be able to see the fireworks, we had a beautiful (although distant) view of Cinderella Castle from the bedroom window and could see the fireworks from the bedroom window and the bedroom balcony. My little girl spent hours on a chair staring out the window.

Sorry that the picture is blurry but you get the idea...

P.S. We quit "hearing" the boat horns after just a couple of hours. I guess we just got used to it because with three little guys I am a pretty light sleeper.

I called Disney Cruise Line 800-951-3532 and spoke with a Cast Member she said they do have a pick-up at Wilderness Lodge and it leaves at 11:45am. As sailing days and times vary she said pick-up times may also vary, so if you have your cruise dates please verify the pick-up time for your cruise with DCL.

Good Luck,
Beckie

How can you book and find out the rates for a villa room? I saw someone got a studio and it was cheaper than the courtyard view. would it be cheaper than standard? and would I be able to still get free dining with it? we have a baby with a pack-n-play so the studio size would be great.
You can check the rates and availability the same as any WDW Resort, you would just ask for a quote for a Studio at the Villas @ Wilderness Lodge.

If you have a Standard View room booked the price for the room you have booked is going to be less expensive that a Studio. Prices range from $225-$370 a night for a Standard View Room. The price range for a Studio are $315.-$480. It never hurts to call and ask. :confused3

Ugh! I have 17 months to go. :( I appreciate all you have put into this thread Magicinmyheart - it has helped me a great deal.

We just switched our ressie from BC to the WL (CY view) :cool1:

We loved our stay in Dec and although the BC is a fun resort, the WL is the most relaxing resort on property IMO and that's exactly what we need this trip :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Room request - inner courtyard, close to lobby (does this sound okay?)

I read this on your beginning Thread "Airline Check-in: You can check your luggage and receive your airline boarding pass at the Resort Airline Check-in Desk, located in the Porte Cochere. If you are departing on a domestic flight from Orlando International Airport (MCO) on participating air carriers, you can check in no less than 3 hours prior to your scheduled departure time."

I have 2 questions--
1. Where is the Porte Cochere area?
2. What time does the Resort Airline Check In Desk for Disney's Magical Express services open? I remember last year when we stayed at Pop Century, we tried to be the first in line & got there really early & they told us they were not yet taking bags for another 30 minutes. They made an exception for us, but I hate breaking the rules & could not remember what time of the morning it was that they start taking bags???

:santa: :santa: :santa:

The Porte Cochere is a a covered carriage entrance or a porch at the door of a building for sheltering persons entering and leaving carriages. At Wilderness Lodge it isn't used for carriages but for automobiles, it's where you drive up in front and the bellmen greet you to unload your luggage.

The Resort Airline Check In will be located to your right just before you enter the main doors.

As far as the hours they operate :confused3 I have no idea, but you should be able to find out either by stopping by and asking them or by calling bell services once you have checked-in. Arriving early isn't breaking the rules.

The following information is from the DIS site about Airline Check-in:

At the Magical Express Welcome Center, guests can pre-register for the Resort Airline Check-In Service (You must be using one of the participating airlines as noted below.)

While the inbound domestic airlines are not restricted, outbound pre domestic flight check in at the resort is limited to guests flying on:

* AirTran Airways
* Alaska Airline
* American
* Delta
* Continental
* Jet Blue
* Northwest
* United/Ted
* USAirways

Beginning on June 1, guests who are flying on AirTran, Continental, Delta, JetBlue, Northwest, and US Airways may check one bag per person. Additional checked bags on these carriers require a payment of a fee

The excess bags can be checked in at the Orlando airport. If you prefer to check in at your Disney resort, you will need to call Baggage Airline Guest Services (BAGS), the contractor for this service. The extra bag fee must be paid to BAGS in advance of using your resort's airline check-in service.

BAGS can be reached by calling 407-285-1231 between 7am and 11pm. This call is free when made from your Disney resort room. Only Master Card, Visa and American Express are accepted as payment.

American Airlines requires a fee be paid for all checked luggage. As noted above, the fees either need to be paid to BAGS prior to checking-in at your Disney resort or the luggage is to be checked upon reaching the airport.

Currently Alaska and United are not imposing checked luggage fees. (This can change at any time.)

If your luggage does not meet size/weight requirements, you will be unable to check the bags in at your resort.
