The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

And we survived Easter week! ;) I swear I've never seen so many people in one place in my life. Good thing we were prepared for it & got to the park at opening everyday. Next time I'll avoid this time. Wish I had known about these boards before I booked the trip. Oh well. Still had a great time.

WL is absolutely beautiful. When I walked into the lobby I was stopped dead in my tracks & all I could say was WOW! The level of detail is really amazing & it just feels relaxing even though there is always lots of activity going on. We arrived around 11:45 a.m. (ME from the airport is fantastic!). No line to check-in & the room was ready. Of course they had no record of my room request that my AAA agent promised to send , but when I asked the very nice CM for something in the northside upper level she said not a problem she'd give us a very nice room. Boy did she. We were is 6039, courtyard view, 2nd to last room before the "wings" so we had a straight view of the pool & lake. Heaven! :yay: :cloud9: Just wish we had more time to sit on the balcony. Grounds were lovely. Pool was very nice, but a little on the small side. Mousekeeping (Priscilla) was great. Room was always cleaned early. One morning we came back at 10:00 a.m. & the room was already done. She made a couple of funny facecloth animals & always arranged the kid's Webkinz in funny ways on the bunk beds. Boat & bus transportation were fast & reliable. The only complaint is getting from resort to resort. When will Disney come up with a better system? :confused3. Food at the Roaring Fork is just average IMHO.

We loved everything so much we're thinking about buying into the DVC. Had great weather & we even won Dream Fast Passes on our last day at MK! :yay: :yay: :yay: Can't wait to go back again. I'm hooked! :cheer2:

It sounds like you had a great experience! Any pics you want to share of the lodge?

horselover I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. WL is breathtaking. I hope to buy into DVC there someday too!

Okay, I have a strange question, so please bear with me ;)

With the code that was released, we were able to switch from a standard view room to a courtyard w/ bunk beds for less money. Woo-hoo!

That being said, it's just me and DH and I really hate to take up a room with bunk-beds if a family can use it. But they just didn't have any other rooms available for this code.

So 2 part question:

1) If we arrive and tell the front desk, "we really don't have any use for the bunk-beds, if you'd rather give us a regular courtyard room and give our room to a family, that would be fine" is that going to cause problems? My biggest concern is that they'll do it and try to charge us what they think is a lower courtyard rate...which in this case would end up being more than the code rate we received. Am I making any sense? I would hope that the CM would catch it, but know how these things can get confused. Or should I just leave it alone and not borrow trouble?

2) Any experiences with courtyard bunk-bed rooms? I know they're scattered all over, but was just wondering where people have stayed, what the rooms were like. Thanks :flower3:

Does this make sense to anyone? The price I was given for 12/7-12/13 for 2 adults, 1 child (5), 1 (child under 3), 6 days w/PH and regular dining was $2800. Is this a good price? We were really wanting to stay for 7 days, preferably on the front end.

Thanks for any advice!!

Just out of curiosity, since there have been some notorious issues of CM's lying about discount codes to get you to book, I checked the WDW website using the specifications you listed above and the price (for a woods-view room) was $3100. So I'd say you did get a break :thumbsup2 . For that savings, I'd take it and somehow work around needing that extra day (maybe book another hotel for just one night, or buy separate one-day tickets or do something like DTD instead.

Does anyone happen to have a picture of an opened sofa bed in the Deluxe (Jr. Suite) Rooms? And has anyone on here slept on one before?

...even more so during Christmas....

agreed!

I'd be happy to post some of my pics if someone could explain how to do it :rotfl: :confused3

I always post through photobucket. It is fairly easy. Just pick photos you want to upload, then resize them, then post using the URL.

You can PM me if you need more help. :)

I'm sorry I don't have a pic, but DH and DS-then 7- slept on it and didn't complain. They're not too picky, though. It does take up the whole room when opened.

Thanks! BTW - is it full-sized or queen-sized?

I have seen a picture of the bus stop from the front on another site. It appears as if it has three different little hubs there. Is each little "building" a stop for a different park? Sort of like coming back to the resorts from the parks. Just wondering. Thought that would probably work out better than some of the stops I've seen.

....yup....AKL is set up like that too....

Hey WL vets - is rubbing Humphrey's nose something you guys made up or is it a resort legend? I've taught my girls all about it and they can't wait to do it so I was just wondering where it came from.

We have 32 days left to go until my first visit to WL - I am so excited I can't stop talking about it to anyone and everyone!!

:scratchin...Well the definitsion of Legend is:

Leg·end/–noun 1. a nonhistorical or unverifiable story handed down by tradition from earlier times and popularly accepted.

Rubbing Humphreys nose is a story that has been handed down, but I can verify that the story is true. Over 30 Magical stays at the Lodge.
