I was so excited I had to post. We have just finalized my 40th BD trip for 6/09 and we will be staying five of our nights for the first time at WL! What started out as a trip for a week is now 15 nights! 5 at WL, 7 at AKL (my DS's favorite) and 3 nights over at RPR at Universal Studios. We have agreed that any view is in the budget, so, what view and what areas should I request to get a memorable first stay at the WL? Thanks for any help.

It would depend on how fast or slow you walk. :confused3 Just guessing because I've never timed it...maybe 5 minutes because you would have to wait for an elevator.

lol I meant is it a far distance. Sorry for phrasing it wrong :rotfl:. It just looks so HUGE in the map so I was curious how far the most distant rooms are from everything.

We are staying at VWL in May and have ressies for the 5:00 Hoop Dee Doo.

We have someone in the party that will not travel via a boat, so we'll have to take a bus.

Do they still have a bus that goes from the WL bus stop to FW? And does it go to the Pioneer Hall area or the main gate area?

Thanks

First of all, congratulations! Sounds like it will be a great trip. :goodvibes

If you are looking for the relaxed, "out in the wilderness" feel, a Woods view room would probably suit you best. These face outward and look out over the "forest" that surrounds WL. If you would prefer a more lively view, the more-expensive Courtyard view rooms look inward toward the pool and geyser areas, and most have a decent view of Bay Lake as well. I would recommend that you avoid Standard view rooms, which either overlook the service area or roof peaks.

If you are requesting a Woods or Courtyard view room, I don't think that any specific area has any disadvantages over another. You may, however, want to put in a request concerning high/low floor. Ground-floor rooms have nice patios, but may not have as good long-range views as higher rooms.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

hello
We just got back from the WL about 2weeks ago and i loved the pillows that they had in the room. I slept so well and woke up without aches and pains. I was wondering if anyone knew what kid of pillows they are?
Thanks

Actually, the pillows are made specially for Disney. But, you are in luck. Disney just started a website that you can go to and order some of their decor. It's disneyresortcollection.com. I went on the site and they have the pillows. They start at $20 and go to $110.

I do have to admit, they are very comfortable. They use these pillows at all the resorts.

Yes there is still a bus that goes to Ft. Wilderness Campground. (from page 1)

Magic Kingdom/Ft Wilderness Campground Buses:
Bus Stop # 1: This bus stop shares buses that travel to the Magic Kingdom (Direct route to and from Magic Kingdom) and a second bus that travels to Ft Wilderness Campground this bus goes to the Settlement Depot. (Pioneer Hall/Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Show) You may ask the driver which location they are going to before boarding.

Actually the Lodge is one of the smallest resorts, compaired to the other resorts there isn't much walking at all. It's very compact with all the amenities under one roof.

Hi,

We'll be staying at VWL for the first time in March for one night. It's a surprise for my son's birthday.

I have a couple of questions.

1. Do the bathrooms in the pool area have lockers and showers? On Friday, I wanted to let the boys swim a little after we checkout, then shower and change clothes and head out to Epcot for dinner and EMH.

2. Thursday we plan on heading over to Ft. Wilderness for the campfire sing a long. How would I get there from VWL?

3. Which do you think 2 boys ,8 and 12 years old, would enjoy better, the Campfire sing along or dinner at the Whispering Canyon for a birthday celebration?

4. I have some mobility issues. Can anyone suggest which building would be best to be close to feature pool and tranportation?

I'd sure appreciate any feedback. :grouphug:

Sorry there aren't any lockers or showers in the bathrooms, there are lockers located near Trout Pass Pool Bar plus outdoor showers are also located at both pool areas.

From Bus stop # 1 at the Wilderness Lodge catch the bus to Ft. Wilderness Campground Settlement Depot, then transfer to the Orange Outpost bus. Get off at the Meadows bus stop (also may be designated for Loop 900 and 1000). You will be at the Meadows Trading Post. In behind the trading post and toward the left is the campfire/movie area. Or catch one of the resort Blue Flag Boats to the Ft. Wilderness Campground Marina then walk to the Settlement Depot bus stop and catch the Orange Outpost bus to the Meadows Trading Post.

Since the campfire is free why not both? :confused3 Get a early ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe then take the bus or boat over to Ft. Wilderness.

The Fort Wilderness campfire program happens year round in the "theater under the stars" located in the Meadows recreation area. It is free of charge.
The program consists of a sing along with a very talented Disney cast members leading the fun. After a brief introduction, our friends Chip and Dale will make their way through the crowd for pictures, autographs and general harrasment of the guests. The sing along starts at 8 during the summer followed by a movie at approximately 8:40. During the winter after daylight savings time ends, the sing along starts at 7 and the movie around 7:40.

There are 2 fire pits that are lit just before the sing along begins. These are for roasting marshmallows, hot dogs and whatever else you may wish to roast.

You can bring your own snacks and drinks with you or purchase what you need.
Popcorn, candy, drinks and S'more kits are available at the chuckwagon, individual wooden roasting sticks are available.

Wooden benches are provided along with bleachers at the back of the theater. A blanket or cushion is always a good idea.

:confused3 Not sure about this question, The Villas are all located in the one building, the Villas are very near the bus stop and access to the feature pool and boats are also accessable though futher away.

There were 2 red boats here today. One was the smaller one and one was the larger one.

I am loading my pics now and will post them soon. i am watching the fireworks from the balcony as I type this!!

I am in room 7052 and we have a view of the castle, space mountain and the CR.
Pics of the fireworks
Also I won a dream while I was there on Sat the 8th
