Need some advise please. Have booked a WL woods view , bunk bed room for 2 adults and 2 kids , ages 9 and 7. 2 of us are early to bed/rise and the other 2 are very restless sleepers who stay up late/sleep in types. Have concerns that being only in one room at WL, might not be conducive for sleeping to either type. Seriously debating on rebooking for 2 rooms at value resort or family suite. Villas would be to much $$. I really want to stay at WL, but afraid that it will lead to flaring tempers. What have others experienced or done in this situation? Any stories or tips would be greatly appreciated.

We had the same issue a few years back at POR. The nice thing about WL is that the bathroom area is around a corner from the beds. That way you can get up and not really bother the others. My suggestion would be to have the early risers get up and go onto the balcony, or go explore the lodge in the morning. We started doing this and it really helped.

This is a family of four, right? Not four otherwise disassociated strangers...?

I'd pull everyone together for a pre-departure meeting about how important it will be for everyone to get enough rest, and that means if Alpha parent says it's time for bed, then it's time for bed, and everyone's going to bed. What you have going for you is that it's a different environment than home, and that can have a huge effect on sleeping/rising habits.

Personally, after a long day in the parks, I don't think you'll have a problem getting everyone to sleep at the same time. In fact, your problem will probably be keeping them awake long enough to clean up before bed!

Has anyone stayed in a studio in the villas? I was wondering how comfotable the sleeper sofa is. My ten year old will be sleeping on it and my 14 year old will be joining him the last two nights. They are both very slim so there should be plenty of room.

My 14 year old is going with the school band the week before Easter. We are staying two extra days so he is joining us after the band leaves. A co worker is a DVC member and sold me points to stay at the WLV. It is cheaper than a mod would have been booking direct through WDW. We are thrilled to stay there. It looks so cool. We stayed at the BC last time and were a little disappointed. The bus to the MK was always more than a 20 minute wait. We used the bus twice and then just drove after that. SAB is a very nice pool area but I think the comparisons to a small waterpark are pushing it.

We stayed in a VWL Studio in November and it was wonderful. We happened to get very lucky with a handy location and even a bit of a view (no real "views" at VWL).

My friend slept on the sleeper and said it was okay - not great, but not bad either. Should be fine, as she had no complaints.

We enjoyed the water launch to MK and also took it over to CR and Ft Wilderness a couple of times - never waited long for any of these and often one would be loading our pulling up.

Bus waits seemed typical of most deluxe resorts - whichever bus we were waiting for was the last to show up after several for other parks. ;) Our bus always went to GF next then on to a park, and on the way back to WL first. Although I had read we would share with Ft Wilderness, that never happened, only GF.

Be prepared for a walk from the WL Lobby over to the Villa's, but there is a sort of short cut to Roaring Forks and the boat launch, if you'd rather not walk through the lobby each time. :thumbsup2

Have a great trip!!! :goodvibes

Alright - I'll take your word for it :thumbsup2 I've posted here off an on and I can not believe that after 3 years of wanting to stay at WL, I will be there!! Am so excited that the room discount code came out and I booked today! I'll be there 5/28 - 6/3...so just wait, I'll be asking a LOT of questions!

I booked my August WL vacation a few weeks ago and got the free dining package. The discount code you mentioned above...is that in addition to the dining package? Or, is the dining package not available anymore. Just want to make sure I get the best price.

Thanks so much! I've been reading this thread for the last few days and can't wait for August.

Never underestimate the value of ear plugs! There's a variety available at just about any Walmart or drug store. Personally, I never travel anywhere without them anymore!

What about renting DVC points? I got my studio for 1/3 the cost of a regular hotel. . .you can still get meal plan and use the ME. You may need to be flexible on your dates or book far out. Good luck!

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before. I tried to read through everything but this is a hugh thread!

We are using my FIL's RCI timeshare and are thinking of booking WLV for aug.2011. We are a family of 2 adults, 2 grown DD's (22, & 20) and a young DD (8). Would we be allowed to stay in a 1 bedroom with a cot or is a 2 bedroom our only option?

We usually stay at the YC (not on points) and have no problem in a standard room with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa.

TIA,
Patty:)

My kids will be 8 (almost 9) and 7 when we go and after years of sharing a hotel room, we are also needing a separate room. Ok, maybe just wanting one, not needing :) I used the current room only discount and priced out VWL, other villa resorts, and 2 value rooms or even the "junior suite" at Coronado. Well, some of the villas were a little cheaper but I didn't want to stay at OKW or Saratoga (and they weren't much cheaper) and the 2 value rooms or junior suite was pretty much the same amount of money. So make sure to run the numbers. I found VWL (with the room only discount) to be the best value (yes, it's about $200 more for 6 nights than some of the other choices - but I thought the location and resort outweighed the cost).

You'll love HDD! They put on a great show and the food is great and don't forget about the unlimited beer and wine;)

You'll probably want to get to the FW marina by 6:45 so I would head to the boat by 6:15 in case you just miss the boat and have to wait the full 20 minutes. The boat will drop you off very close to HDD, it's only about a 2 minute walk from there. Definitely take the boat and not the bus.

Have a great time! I know you will:goodvibes.

I'm really excited and my DH is so happy we are doing something 'different'. Is there a reason we need to be at the FW marina by 6:45? Do they make you check in at that time or something?
Thanks!

You can only get one discount. Definitely run the numbers because for us, the room discount at VWL (35%) was a bigger discount than free dining. And we did add on dining but had to pay for it. You can play with the dates, resorts, tickets, dining, etc. choices at Disneyworld.com. Be sure to go to the special offers page and look up your stuff from there so it takes into account the discount. Good luck!
