We check-in tonight! Can't wait -hopefully the work day will fly by! :santa:
I'd be sneaking time on the DisBoards all day. Since these are the people that understand your excitement!!!

Haha.

It's cold in Foggy Bottom too!!!

Brian

Me too! I'm so excited. I've only stayed at WL for one night and fell in love with it. This trip is just me and my teen DD. We'll have 4 great nights there :goodvibes.

I am going w/my mom. I was going to do a solo trip away from the hubby and my 2 little boys (I am a stay at home mom and desperately need some "me" time), but my mother invited herself! We are from MA (which I hate) and I love FL b/c of the palm trees! I am kinda sad that the WL is not a tropcial feel for me b/c I am going in Feb, but it seems so cozy and inviting which will be perfect for a winter trip. I see a rocking chair in front of the fire place calling my name :yay:!

We are there the first weekend of February so I am hoping that the FL temps will go up a bit by then....it has to be warmer than New England right????

Don't worry, you'll see plenty of palm trees everywhere else. But escaping to the lodge and drinking Hot Cocoa in from of the fireplace is a delight not to be missed!!!!

Probably my favorite activity at the Lodge (after searching for Hidden Mickeys and basking in the hot tub, of course!)

 We are originally from Boston and made many trips to Disney in the winter months. Summer or winter we never stayed at the WL because we wanted to be surrounded by everything tropical. Yes, palm trees are everywhere, but it is wonderful to come down from Boston and be surrounded by those palm trees! :thumbsup2

If your trip is early Feb, my suggestion would be to take a warm coat, gloves, hat and scarf. All of our early Feb trips (first weekend/week) were raw, cold and rainy. My friend was there the same time last yr and had several cold days and rain. If you are lucky, it will be sunny and 65 to 70 mid day, but mornings and nights can be very chilly, so be prepared if you are going early to mid Feb. Later in the month can be very nice - one of our best trips weather wise was the first weekend of March. :teeth:

If you'd rather not stay at WL why not try another resort? We've stayed at nearly every resort several times. We returned from our first stay at the Villas WL couple of weeks ago - we LOVED the holiday decorations and coziness. Not sure I would stay there if it was not during the holidays ...but...it will definitely be warm and cozy if the weather is raw and everything will be under one roof - a plus if you have a cold rainy day. ::yes::

I hope the weather is warm and sunny during your stay!!:goodvibes

It's totally dragging! And it is COLD - so even more reason to look forward to our trip to Florida!
Well, we're up to 35 and it's 54 now at WDW, so that's an improvement. But it will be in the 70's Friday and Saturday for you:thumbsup2

Hope your travels go smoothly. You're not leaving during rush hour, are you?:scared1:

Just got back on Monday. We were there for 9 days and LOVED it! It is such a beautiful resort. I love to take pics and there are tons of great shots to be had there. The room was very clean and kept clean the whole time. We got towel animals and a birthday card from Mickey for my husband. The CM's were very nice. The only issue we had was with the buses. We waited 35 minutes one time for a MK bus and 25 minutes another time. The only reason a bus came was because a CM called for one. Another group waited over 30 minutes for an Epcot bus on another day until a CM called a bus for them. I am not sure if this is common for WL but it was a little aggrivating. It would not stop me from staying again though. I actually think it may be hard to stay any place else. Can't wait to go back!!!!

Thank you for posting your review and I'm glad to hear you had a nice stay.

Just curious, why did you take the bus to the MK instead of the boat to the MK or even the boat to the CR and then walk to the MK? I only ask because we try to avoid the buses when we can because they are so unpredictable.

So, did you book a bounceback?

One Feb. I was at BC and it was in the 80's (No complaints there), but I am hoping that it will be at least 60's in the day and NO rain!!!! I will have my warm winter gear just in case (and I can always buy a few Mickey sweatshirts :)).

I am staying with my husband and sons at the Poly in July so I will have my tropical feel later on. I will be happy at the WL and will look for the palm trees at the MK!

No bounceback which was fine because we can only go every 2 years. We took the boat a bunch of times which we really liked. There were days that we needed to get to MK quickly and on these boards I had read that it is usually quick by bus. I read that most people take the boat so the buses come frequenlty and it is a shorter ride. So I guess we just had bad luck.

We just switched to WL for our May trip! Never stayed there before, but we've stayed at the Poly, CR, GF, BWI. Very very excited!!!!

We have a courtyard view-- would yall say the bear face views are the best option?? Thanks! :goodvibes

When we stayed in May 09 we were not impressed with the bus service. We waited 45 minutes for a bus to DTD once and were afraid we were going to miss our BBB appointment :sad2: We always took the boat to MK, it was always quicker in my opinion.

SO glad that you had great trip. I was hoping that it would be wonderful!!

Brian

It was definitely wonderful!! Thanks so much for your suggestions on how to snag a reservation....We were so happy to be at the WL....so much so that I came home and had to boost my holiday decorations in our house lol! We even sat by a fireplace on the fourth or fifth floor one night and just enjoyed the atmosphere and the quiet - something we never ever get to do at home. If we ever are at WDW during the winter months again, the WL would be one of my first choices!!

Thanks again and enjoy the holiday season!!

They are the most coveted rooms on these boards. Lol.

I am just so glad you got what you wanted. My Mom and I leave in 33 days. We are quite excited!

So I am booked for fall 2011 and very excited.:goodvibes I've visited VWL before but we've never stayed and this will be our first time w/ DDP, so YAY! I do have a few questions:
Rooms- Is there a curtain or anything that helps to separate the sink/vanity area (like at Coronado)?
Lodge & grounds decor: Do they put up any autumn/Halloween decorations there?

I'm also a little confused with the lodge itself. I know this is a dingy question but... are all the rooms there accessed from inside the lodge itself or are there outside corridors?

Thanks in advance!!!!
