I was reading a review on the CL on allears. It said that the beds were triple sheeted.

Is that true for all the rooms in hotel? I don't remember that from 2008.

Thanks.
Glad I'm not losing my mind. Because I'm pretty sure I would have remembered that.

Ok..... booked BB for sept 1-7 2010 as we checked out of CSR last year..... Kids wanted to try new resort. Called today and added 8/28-8/31 and they gave me the BB rate on the extension.....Ok that was probably the extent of the magic we'll get cause it really is a great rate.....but now I'm seeing some issues at WL such as slow buses and mousekeeping probs. Can someone tell me the transportation is ok? CSR had some of the same reviews and we didnt find any problems there.... Personally I can't wait it looks beautiful....

WL is beautiful and actually my favorite resort at WDW. We stayed from Feb 5-12 and found the transportation to be fine. Our problem was with housekeeping- we were travelling with our daughter, son and grandson and there were at least 5 nuts found in drawers and on the floor in my daughter's room. The baby is just under 2 and had he gotten to them first, it could have presented a chocking hazzard or allergy (hasn't had any nuts yet) We also requested a pack and play for each of our rooms since there were no connecting rooms in the category they changed us to (booked 2 woods gave courtyard probably as far as you can get). Well, it took over 24 hrs to get the first pack and play (3 or 4 calls and another stop in the lobby) We never got the second one. THe CMs this trip were probably the least caring of all our WDW trips and I was dissapointed in that respect (as well as the cleanliness of the rooms) Our last few stays before this were at Values and the CMs, cleanliness and any small requests were happily done. I guess for the cost of the 2 rooms, had I know all of this we would probably just have stayed in another resort. I really love the atmosphere of the WL and I guess comparing to our last visit in 2003 a big disappointment.

Not a big deal to me but my DS 15 will have a stroke if there isn't a flat screen tv do all the rooms have flat screens? I have seen both.....

The WL is beyond beautiful!!! We have urged all of our friends to stay there and we are going back in December. Our mousekeeping was AMAZING! We paid a VERY large bill to stay at the Grand Floridian in 2008. MK/Castle view and all. Mousekeeping was horrible and never left us animal towels for the kids. Our experience with the mousekeeping at WL was beyond amazing--and we were in a Standard View room! They kept our room SO clean and left us 4 + animal towels a night. Can't rave enough.

We went during a slow time in January, but the longest we had to wait for a bus was 10 minutes (to Epcot). The boats came really quickly. There were two and they were arriving about every 5-10 minutes. I have no complaints.

The WL is addicting. You will love it :cloud9: HTH.

it is a beautiful resort. we had a flat screen in a standard also. I would just suggest you exam the room well as soon as you get in/bathroom/bed/under skirt of bed, drawers, anywhere you think. If you find something you don't like I would go down to the front desk and alert them of the problems. If they aren't taken care of in a timely manner then ask for a different room since yours is not clean. I think all disney hotels have such a constant flow of people housekeeping isn't spending the time they should really I mean really cleaning all those forgetfull spots. Would we stay here again, yes if we can get a good rate like last time. The closeness of MK is the best. We have found boat transport the way to go. We always seemed to lucked out and arrived just as the boat was arriving or boarding. What I didn't like was it felt like we had to wait a long time (I never actually timed it) for the buses to other parks. Then they would say straight service to ...epcot/DHS/whereever but we would then stop at FT. Wilderness or GF. it made the trip even longer. if I would have known they were stopping there to begin with it would have been better. We found ourselves taking the boat to Mk then jumping on the monorail if needed. don't know if that actually saved us time but at least it felt like we were moving. once for DHS the line was so long for the bus and it still wasn't there. TTC bus was right beside waiting and empty we jumped on. got on the monorail then jumped on the boat. haha it seems really long when I type it but it was literally jumping off one and getting on another. we probably just lucked out. I just didn't think we would get on the bus and if we did we would be standing w/ 2 kids and a huge stroller.

Hi all!! I am so excited and overwhelmed to be joining this group. I just got off the phone with CRO and booked a woods view at WL for Oct. 15-22. I didn't make any requests on my ressie, but would love help picking a room. We're a family of 5, with a 6 year old, 4 year old and a year old at the time of travel. I know we won't be doing late nights so something nice to look at out our balcony would be lovely as would a short walk to Roaring Forks. Is it possible to have both? What suggestions do you have for me?

I have been a guest at WL at least 10 times since it opened in 1995. Actually I was a guest the FIRST month it opened in 95..LOL Myself nor my family have ever experienced any mousekeeping issues. We have always had stellar service at this hotel. My thought is; if you are not satisfied with say; housekeeping...let them know nicely. You will always catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Whenever we have had any issue at a hotel we always complain "nicely". You would be surprised at the results. Always address it right there and if you are not satisfied with the outcome, let them know again 'nicely'.

I'll give an example: last August we were at a very nice Embassy Suites prior to our cruise in Florida. We went out to the pool at about 8PM our first night. There were pool chairs all around the pool. We headed to one side, found two and laid our towels...shoes etc down. After we got out, I went to sit down in this chaise lounger, it was broke! Keep in mind, I'm not very big. About 5'1" around 120lbs. I fell straight thru and I hit my back on the bar in the center..got a nice bruise but other than that ok. We went to find a manager so the chair could be gone. I had to fill out an incident report due to the bruised back but I was ok. The manager was very nice about it. I told him I didn't want anything but for the chair to be taken away. The next afternoon (late) we go back to the pool. Most all of the chairs are being used. I find one and sit down..you guessed it..that same gosh darn chair!! This time I got a little hot under the collar. I went back into the desk with my hubby and explained (nicely) all the nite before to the day manager. He himself came out, took the chair far far away. When we checked out; they only charged us for one night stay ($159) and they paid for our dinner the day before ($98). We never asked for anything either. I just nicely explained that had I been a larger person, it could have been a serious injury. It could have been a broken back or hip. They were lucky I'm small I guess.

Anyhow, back to the WL...we have enjoyed every stay there. My teenage sons still says it's there favorite and they have been at nearly all the deluxes but the GF.

I will say as far as buses...it's hit or miss with any resort. A few years ago we were at the Poly. We waited forever at HS in this monsoon rain storm. It was such a long wait, we ended up on the GF bus just to get back to the Poly. :( So you can't always take one person's experience on buses for your trip because they vary so much.

I hope you have a fabulous time. Just read thru the FAQ, go over to youtube and check out videos that travelers have made and put on there while at the lodge. :) I still get goosebumps when I step thru the front doors.

Moparop; we love the courtyard view. You can see the pool, the geyser, and the electrical water pageant at night. Bay Lake is gorgeous. I also read about folks wanting a high floor woods view to be able to view the fireworks at the MK. It just depends on what you want to look at. We so enjoy having our coffee out on the balcony in the early AM.

I am trying to decide between a 1-bedroom at the Villas or bunk beds in a woods view. I am having a hard time. How far of a walk from the villas is it to Roaring Forks? Has anyone stayed in both and can give me information?

If I had the choice I would take a one bedroom at the Villas. The bunk beds were great but I would rather sleep separate from my boys. As for the walk to roaring forks, it can be just as long from a far away room at the Lodge itself. The walk is covered, if need be. I don't think it is that bad, personally.

If you decide to stay at the Villas, it will add 1-2 minutes in walking is my guess. It is really not far from the main loby. I would also opt for the 1-bedroom at the Villas.

Does anyone have a picture of a woods view roomon the first floor?

I have a 2 yo who is a climber and I requested a 6th floor solid balcony but wanted to have the first floor as a back-up plan.

Just curious what it looks like :)

I don't have the info you want. However, I wanted to say that my toddler is a climber too. Based on what I've seen when staying at the lodge, the solid versus regular balconies provide little additional security. A larger concern is the furniture on the balcony. It is not bolted down and could be moved and used as a ladder. I know my child would go for that, especially if she can't see through the railing. I do recall the railing being high enough not to be a big concern unless someone starts climbing.

Check out post #2 of this thread. There is a pic of woods view from the 1st floor!

Hello, everyone! New to DISboards, not to Disney...but I am new to VWL. We're hoping to trade into VWL from our timeshare, and VWL are my first choice. DH is originally from the Oregon area and is missing it now that he's a Tarheel, and we love camping, fishing, etc., so I figured this is a natural fit for us.

First question: do they still do the flag family thing? If so, is this something you have to be picked for or can you sign up for it? I have five kids, three of whom would go outta their gourds if they got to help with the flag.

Second question: Is there a "best" VWL unit/building? This will be our family's first stay at VWL. It's also a first-ever trip for DH and our kids (we're a blended family of seven) so I'm hoping they fall in love with WDW as hard as I have.

TIA for any info.

You sign up for the Flag Family at the WL front desk.

There is a board that deals with all things DVC. You will get very knowledgeable answers there.

Yes they still have the flag raising. You sign up and hope they select your family. The VWL is all in one building. I would ask for a two bedroom villa on the Atrium. That would put you close to the elevators and if on the back side you may have a view overlooking the quiet pool.:thumbsup2
