Brian, thank you for your WL report. Can I ask what you especially loved about Tusker House for lunch, and how early you then showed up for the Nemo show that was part of the package? Thinking about trying this.

Thanks

The food was outstanding. The best Buffet I have seen at Disney(have not been to Boma yet). I'm not too up on african food, but everything I tried I really liked.

I've done this package 3 times now. We had a 1:30 reservation, but showed up at 12:50 and were seated right away. I'll definitely try to do this again in the future. Last time we arrived at 1:20 and were still waiting 20 minutes later to get seated.

We showed about 15-20 minutes before the show and they let us into the front right hand side. When we checked in a TH last time we requested seating for the 4:45 show, even though we were suppose to get the 3:15. They gladly gave it to us. Gave us time to see Lion King right after lunch and then we headed to Nemo.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find it on this thread. We have an ADR at Whispering Canyon and are planning on watching the Electrical pageant afterwards. Is there a way to see Wishes from someplace on the grounds of the the WL too that night?

We didn't try, but my understanding is that the view is no good from the waterfront. You can see MOST of Wishes from the Fort Wilderness beach, but a lot of the lower parts are blocked. I would imagine the angle makes that worse at WL. I don't believe there are public areas of the WL buildings which are a) high enough and b) face the MK.

You can watch it from the sixth floor inside. IF you go to the Elevators by Roaring Fork go to the 6th floor, turn left you will come to an area with windows on the right. They face right out to the MK. Open the blinds and enjoy! :-)

Hello from a lurker! :goodvibes

My family will be staying at the WL in less than two weeks. It's a first for all of us at this resort. We have been to WCC and loved the look and feel of the resort and decided this was where we would stay for our next trip.

I have to admit I am not as excited about this trip as I have been other trips and I suppose the main reason for that was that we had originally planned this trip with my mom. Unfortunately, my mom passed away last year.. We thought about switching resorts to make it a little different from the original trip we had planned, but decided against it.

I have been coming to this thread over the last few months looking at pictures and reading reports from people who just visited and I wanted to say, "Thank you!" It's helping me feel better about the choice we made to continue to stay at the WL. If anyone else has more pictures, I'd love to see them!

I am very sorry for your loss. I hope that this trip will allow you to remember all of the wonderful times your had with your mother and enjoy this trip in her memory. Again, my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

This should probably be in the happy dance section, but we finally booked a 1-BR villa with the 45% off PIN. I was content with a standard view, but I couldn't pass up the discount on the villa.

Enjoy your villa!! That is something not to be passed up:)

I've seen several recommendation about taking a cab from WL to CR or MK for a pre-opening ADR. Are the cabs usually found waiting or do you need to call for one?

That's very kind of you, thank you. :) I appreciate it very much. My mom is always in my thoughts and I know she will be even more so on vacation since WDW was one of her favorite places. I'm also looking forward to making to memories with my own children.

Would love to see more resort pictures to get me more in the Disney spirit, though! :goodvibes

My mom and I took a trip right after my Dad passed away last summer, though it was very emotional with all the memories of Dad popping up, it was very therapeutic. I hope you're vacation is wonderful!!

What is the best way to get to Whispering Canyon (lunch) from MK and how long does it take?

Thanks

We never used the bus, though the travel time is fastest that way. The boat travel time (not including wait) is about 10 min between MK and WL, but before 3pm I believe the boat stops at FW first, making the trip longer.
See page 1 for details. Basically the rule of thumb is that the bus is fastest if things are running smoothly, but the boat is more punctual and a nicer ride.

I am so sorry for your loss:hug: I hope you and your family have a magical time, and I am sure your mom will be watching over all of you and sharing in your joy. This is our first trip to Disney, but I am sure that you could find something, big or small, to perhaps do in her honor. Maybe make a special wish at a wishing fountain?

I love looking at all the pictures as well! We aren't going until April, so make sure and take lots of pictures to bring back here :)

My Dad and I travelled to Disneyworld the Christmas after my Mom passed in 1989. Dad passed this past Summer. We are here now and it is very theraputic. Getting to share this pl e with our 5 yr old for the first time and remembering my time back in 72 with both my parents is bittersweet but also comforting. I am sorry for you loss and wish you well --->

Tiggerfan, we stayed at the WL in December. There are 2 boat ferries - the red flag route and the blue flag route. One of them makes a direct trip between WL and MK, the other makes stops at the Contemporary and Ft Wilderness before the lodge. The time to get to the WL from MK by bus or boat is about the same if I remember correctly. We never waited long for either boat or bus, although the boat loading dock is easier to get to (right outside the exit of MK) and you have to walk a little farther to the bus loading zone.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I appreciate you posting your point of view when you went with you mom. I'm sure the trip was rough at times, but knowing you have those memories with your dad are probably priceless.

I will definitely check out those links! Thanks so much! :goodvibes
