The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

We were told one trip that they are not supposed to let you use them without their CM. Something about possibly running into other guests, people riding their kids on it when returning, etc. Basically possible misuse and liability to resort.

DizneyNutz is correct, the reason that Amberg and 3"Mouse"keteers where able to use the carts over at Pop and Movies is that the value resorts have Luggage Assistance for their guests. Not to be confused with "Bell Services" the policy at Wilderness Lodge is that the luggage carts may only be used by the bellmen.

If you prefer to carry your own luggage...you could park in self parking before checking-in, then after you receive your room assignment your husband could pull your car up to the front of the lodge just past where the bellmen are located. You could unload everything and then wait until he reparks the car then both of you plus the little ones could all carry your luggage to your room.

I do use the bellmen but have also carried my own bags many times, when traveling with childern we always seem to have many little items like you. I don't tip for each and every little bag I limit the tip to the actual luggage we have, then a little extra for all the smaller items but not a dollar per item, we do it more like JPN posted.

Have a Magical Trip

Are the hot tubs and pool open 24 hours or do they close at a certain time?
Thanks!

My disabled mom (electric scooter), dd6 and I will be at the Lodge 12/23 through 12/28. We have reserved a club level handicapped accessible room.

It's my understanding that all of the accessible rooms (w/showers) have king-sized beds. Will they just put a cot in the room to accommodate all three of us? What if you need an accessible room and want to upgrade?

We don't know for sure, but we believe the pools close at a certain time and I THINK you can still use the hot tubs. Maybe someone here knows for sure.:thumbsup2

The accessible rooms do have king-size beds, I would suggest you E-mail or phone the IPO Staff for the Lodge and speak with them.

Not really sure what you would upgrade to as you already have club level booked. :confused3

Sorry that wasn't clear! I should have said -- upgrade to a bigger room so we could have two queen beds! I actually received a PIN today for 30% off a deluxe during the dates we'll be there. When I called, the CM said that we couldn't use the PIN because we had the dining plan! We hadn't used any discounts when we booked the original reservation.

I did email the IPO staff and they said to call the reservation number and ask for "special needs" desk (or something like that). The CM who took the call categorically would not let me speak to anyone else and kept repeating "we will accommodate your needs." What exactly that means, I have no idea. I assume it means a cot, but that doesn't appeal. I can see it now -- dd will be in the king with her nana, and I'll be on the cot! I guess I'll wait until a couple of weeks before we arrive and email the IPO at the Lodge again.

Shoshana,
I can assure you that you nor your daughter will be given a cot as an option to sleep on. As I have never needed an accessible room (thank goodness) I can't say 100% but they will accommodate everyone in your party. I believe that you will be given a connenting room for the other members in your party. This is all handled through the "special needs" cast members. I'm sure this is what was ment by saying "we will accommodate your needs." ::yes::

As for the 30% discount, this sounds like a room only discount, :confused3 with you having the dining plan it seems you have booked a package. To book the 30% discount you would need a completely new reservation. At this late date I'm not sure if there would be any rooms available with this discount at the Lodge. You would need to check several things before changing or canceling existing reservation especially with your "special needs" request.

Thank you, Beckie, that's very helpful info! Honestly, I am so looking forward to this vacation. My father just passed away and mom thought we should spend the holidays at Disney! Of course, I agreed that it was a terrific idea. Even IF they put a cot in the room, I'll still be thrilled to be there. My mom has never been to WL and I'm sure she'll love it.
