The Wilderness Lodge and Villas FAQ (Part 7) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Just home on Tuesday evening. The resort has held up well, CL was okay. We were assigned a great location, room 7127, right in a corner next to the VIP suite (7123), it remained unbooked so we had zero noise. I honestly don't thing CL was busy at all, we never saw anyone else use what we felt was our "personal elevator", the one that went down to the pool. We used the lounge for breakfast (mini croissants, mini bagels, mini fruit pastries, apple or cherry, varied by day, cereals, juice milk and coffee). The snack offerings were pretzels, gummi bears, goldfish and mixed nuts. We never saw the hot appetizers as this happened during our dinner time. Dessert nightly was a cobbler (berry two nights peach on our last), cookies, iced brownies and magic cookie bars. Fruit at breakfast was melons, pineapple, bananas and apples. Sodas were coke, diet coke and sprite only that we saw. They had cordials out with the deserts, kahlua, some wines, grand marinier type stuff (I don't think it was the real deal but I may be wrong). DId not see beer in the cooler but you may have to ask for it. Was not impressed with the variety of goods in the mercantile. Buses are the pits, shared most times with Ft Wilderness. Shared a bus to DHS with the GF. The boats to MK were okay. Monorail was ridiculous, they would have seats available, people would walk up, they would close the doors in their faces then sit there for a few minutes before leaving.

We got home yesterday from our first stay at WL! It was beautiful all decorated for the holidays! It was breath-taking to walk into the lobby and see that huge tree right in the center. My little boy stopped to look at the tree every time we walked to our room.

We had booked a standard-view room (only that and Courtyard BB were available with the military discount when I booked). I asked at check-in how much it would cost to upgrade to a room with BB, but the CM said there were none available, that she had checked earlier for another guest. No biggie! We were given room 6054. It faced the Smokehouse and the woods beyond. Since we were so high up, the parking lot view didn't bother us. It was a little loud at times if you were on the balcony, but at night it wasn't bad. With the door closed, we did not hear any noise at all. On our second night we discovered that we had a great view of Wishes!

We had great Mousekeeping service. The staff was very friendly, smiled and said hello when we saw them in the halls. Our mousekeeper left the boys' stuffed things in fun arrangements every day, to their delight (and mine). She also left us little towel creations by the sink or on the radio every day, little birds and such.

We loved the boat to MK and since we spent 2 days, plus the MVMCP there, it was a great perk to staying at WL. We never waited more than 5-8 min for a boat and never had to wait for a 2nd one because the first was full. Maybe once we arrived as the boat was pulling away and had to wait, but it was a very short wait. Even after Wishes one night, we were able to get on the first boat leaving.

We ate at WCC our first morning and at Roaring Fork on our last morning. We had a lovely conversation with a CM named Andy at RF yesterday as he was cleaning up orange juice that my little boy had spilled. He looked managerial and was so nice and friendly.

We would definitely stay here again if it's in the budget!

Robin,

Thanks for your honest review. Last time we were getting on the resort Monorail, the doors were open, the entrance chained off and the cast members were over in a group talking. Waited for a good couple minutes before they closed the doors. Did not make sense how an mostly empty monorail was sitting there and about 20-25 people in line and the CM made us wait for the next. Sorry about the bus issues :-(

I love your view!! :-) Wishes in just magical from the Lodge. Thanks for posting the pics. People seem so scared of staying in the standard room! I'm happy that you gave an honest review of it. The things they did with the stuffed animals is so funny!!!

I'd love to stay in any room in WL! Just so I'm there!!!

I am so excited that it is only two months away for us! Too bad the Christmas decorations won't be up for us, but keep the pics coming, it does look so beautiful!

Hi!

I was wondering if the standard rooms at the Wilderness Lodge have coffee mugs (like in the room)? If so what color are they?

I was just curious, thank you!

Does anyone know if it is okay to walk from the Wilderness Lodge to the Polynesian? In other words, is it permitted? We love to walk and are thinking about walking from WL to Polynesian for breakfast one morning.

Thanks!

Okay, I'll ask......why does it matter the color of the mugs.:confused3

Yes you can, but there is no walkway. You would be walking along the roadway.

I have never noticed the color of them because I havn't been there for a few years. Just curious to see if they are different at every deluxe resort :)

I believe that the ones in the room were black. I can't remember if the ones in the lounge were different.

Thank you for this posting. Whew! the information is great. We are planning our first stay at WLR in July 2010 and I want to incorporate alot of these things, which we have never done, into our activities. This time I am traveling with my niece's little girl and my cousin's granddaughter. I can't wait!
