Sunday 18th May
As anticipated Zak woke up at 2am as that's his time for getting up (7am at home) he stayed awake until 5am when Si managed to get him off by rocking him in his car seat, we all slept until around 9am and woke up still feeling in need of another 12 hours sleep! We were a little concerned that this was how the next 2 weeks were going to be, carried on hunting for this parcel from Netgrocer, I phoned shipping to find out if it had arrived and been signed for so that we could try and ascertain
what had happened to it, they called me back around an hour later to say that they had found it. PHEW! the stress relief was incredible to say the least, despite me putting our booking ref and all details to ensure that the parcel found us on the Netgrocer form, they'd failed to print any of it, infacft they'd hadn't even printed the full address so it's quite incredible that it had got there at all, let alone found us (cunningly however all the correct address details, including the booking ref were printed in the invoice inside the box loads of help in there
).
We had a reasonably quiet day, met up with my DB (Tony) and SIL (Sharlene) who had driven down from Georgia to spend some time with us, we had lunch at Friendlies on I-Drive which was very good, then we looked at the 1 bed units in BCV (and got our pin for looking) and spent the afternoon at SAB which is a great way to spend the afternoon. We then met up again with DB and SIL for dinner at Darryls on I-Drive, which was ok but not on my list of must go agains.
Monday 19th May
Hoorayyyyy!!!!!!!!!! Our first theme park day, and made even more excellent by the fact that Zak slept all night, very happy with how quickly he'd adjusted to the time difference, in fact we had to wake him up in the morning so that we could go to IOA. We drove to meet DB & SIL at their hotel and all transferred into his monster of a vehicle - Ford Expedition I think (with room for more people!). Tony was at McDonalds after having an accident where he reversed into another car. I only mention this as it is an interesting point of Florida state law. If you have an accident you have to wait for the police to attend. It doesn't stop there. The police gave Tony a ticket for Improper Backing, have you ever heard the like. Anyhow the moral of this story is to be very careful in car parks!
Off to IOA, and the first stop - Spiderman, absolutely excellent we only waited around 10 minutes to ride as the park wasn't busy at all, parent switch was brilliantly done, we all queued together with the buggy then Simon & I took Zak into the designated parent switch room (seats, aircon, and even a flat surface for changing nappies) once we reached the front of the line, as soon as Tony, Sharlene & Rads had ridden they came straight through to us and Si, Rads & I got straight onto the ride. R was ecstatic that she got to do it twice and we were all dead jealous!!! lol
Next time for some character greetings as their little convoy came along, and Si & I rode The Hulk together. The express pass machines for Hulk had been faulty, but were re-opened as we got there. The outcome of this was that we got Express Passes for right then, and walk straight onto the ride. SIL who doesn't like coasters kindly looked after the small people.
Onto Suess landings, rode Cat in the hat, Si took Zak off for a bottle at this point, the DB & SIL took Rads on one fish 2 fish red fish blue fish thingie which was possible the longest queue of the day! Now I'm not sure who had the most fun, her or them, both being in their 40's and having never had children!!!
Ate lunch in Suess Landings which was very nice. Then onto Poseidon's fury, now we couldn't take the buggy into the queue here so Tony & Sharlene went in first with Rads with the idea of doing a parent swap as Zak was asleep at the time, they were in there close on an hour though by which time we'd lost interest in going in there and our time slots for Duelling Dragons was here
so off to ride that which was great, I'm a big fan of The Nemesis at Alton Towers and it did remind of that a lot, although a much longer version with more inversions. We didn't wait for the front row as T&S were with the little ones as we felt it unfair to take longer but did sit in the second row which also provided a very clear view. Somehow (I'm not sure how) we managed to completely miss the part where you choose which dragon you queue for so we ended up on the fire dragon.
Then it was onto the Flying Unicorn on the way to Jurassic Park, Rads rode that twice as there was hardly any queue at all. Parentswitch on Jurassic Park worked really well again, we all queued to gether, then the people waiting with Zak waited in a seating area under a nice big fan inbetween where you board and disembark the ride, then you just swap over when the first riders have had their go easy peasy!
We were then in the process of filling out the waiver-I promise we won't sue Universal- form for the rock climb for Rads when they closed it due to an approaching storm, they also closed most of the rides there, so of course it was back to Spiderman which again was a relatively short queue considering how many of the rides were closed, but then again it was almost park closing time
, so off for the obligatory shopping.
We were VERY impressed with IOA and how family friendly it was, there were changing facilities in ALL restrooms and the parentswitch was consistent and very user friendly.
