Idiot Ball: In the first book, Finn and Philby explore Splash Mountain without a log car or any plan to survive the big drop.
Hmm... That's pretty true. Just how
did they expect to get around the big drop anyway? Philby keeps saying they shouldn't get out of the water because they'll trip hidden sensors. They would probably have to swim all the way back to the beginning so they could check the last scene... Oh wait, by that point they'd of gone down about 3 drops. Hmm... They didn't really think this through, did they? I guess they could of slid down the drop, maybe... Hey, wait a minute! Wayne says that all the rides are kept running in Magic Kingdom, even during the night. So they could of got into one of the logs and went around! Why was it not running in the first place? Well, plot reasons duh. But Maleficent could of done something different to stop them. Why turn on the ride that was supposed to be on in the first place? The crocodiles could come to life and try to eat them or something. Don't think you could get them to stop with a smile. Not even singing about going to your laughing place could stop crocodiles. But then these are Disney crocodiles in a ride with a song about laughing. Of course, they could be deterred by the song, just like Brer Fox and Brer Bear. That could of been interesting. Sure it's a rehash of the Small World scene (a song in the ride gives advice on how to stop the threat of vicious animatronic creatures from biting you), but it ties into the ride. They somehow escape there, maybe by tempting them over the drop before the log, and the log smashes them on the way down, destroying them... Hmm, that would of been rather cool actually. Anyway, I'm rambling. I guess their plan was to slide down the drop. It's a 45 degree angle, so not very steep. I guess it would of been painful, but who knows? The logs of impending doom came around too quickly for them to decide. By the way, did Philby go down the drop before getting into the log? I never fully understood that scene. It's like Philby goes down the drop and is covered with water, but then Finn drags him into the log, and they go down the drop again... Huh? Unless right at the top of the drop, Philby goes underwater (because there's got to be tons of water on the edge of a drop...) and Finn gets him into the log just moments before it goes down... Hmm, I don't know. I'll have to read the book again, I guess.
