....we can have a peaceful weekend before our early AM flight to Orlando! Cannot wait for my grey goose slushie, which I will be heading for immediately upon arrival.;):goodvibes ....

....I'm. OFFICIALLY. jealous.

Marilyn - Hope you pulled up well from the gym. Sorry about the water heater. Hope it lasts a long time.

I hope so too. It really should have been replaced before this as it hasn't been heating well but my DM wanted to wait until the family room was spotless. Like that's gonna happen. :rotfl:

As for the gym, I did really well considering I hadn't been in 2 weeks and my eating has been bad again.:sad2: I had been doing 2 miles on the exercise bike, then using the exercise machines, then back to the bike for another mile. The last time I went I managed to get an extra mile during my second bike "ride" and was able to do it again Monday, no problem. :yay:

Dinner last night ended up being out as I didn't leave work until late so tonight is the meatloaf, roasted potatoes and some sort of green thingy.

good morning everyone!!!!

I have been out of the loop sorry for being "away" been really busy!

All is good here and David and are excited about his new job opportunity starting Tuesday. Whoop!!!!

Tomorrow we are visiting Valley Forge and then driving over to Gettysburg, we will spend Sunday there, then head back to home on Sunday night... I lot of sightseeing and running around but we will spend Monday here.

...well, in this economy, it's especially hard to get a job....see, it MUST have been fate.

I have to tell you that I was really worried and I feel so blessed, know that he did not go a single day with a job.

He had until the end of the month until he out of the first one and the this one came in and wanted him to start on Tuesday before the end of the month, so I feel like we were extremely blessed in this.

Brandi, I'm so glad everything has worked out for you and David. Have fun on your mini road trip!

Marilyn, good luck getting back into the swing of things at the gym.

To all of you planning trips to WDW, I am jealous too!

So Arline is OK, her hip was not fractured, but all this has made us realize that she can't go on living alone in a town without a support system. Next week we are driving up with my cleaning lady and her brother to pack up a pod with all of Arline's stuff. Once we find a place for her, we can unpack her stuff and move her in. We viewed a nice place yesterday.

WFD tonight? Spaghetti! I made the sauce last night after we came home from dinner, so it should be good and tasty by tonight!

Marilyn - I need something to keep me motivated on losing weight and eating healthy. "Some sort of green thingy" is not doing it for me.!!!!! :rotfl2:

Brandi - Good luck for David's new job. Sounds like your having a nice mini break at Valley Forge and Gettysburg. Hope to see some pics!

Alison - Glad that Arline is okay. Hope that moving her to LB works out.

WFD? Well, last night I made a Tuna Teriyaki with potato wedges and broccoli. Tonight we're thinking about having focaccias for dinner.
Monday night will be burger night. I still have those burger patties from the market which will be perfect for DS and myself. Need to think about getting some vegetarian burger patty for DH tomorrow.

Keep well all.

Dinner in Aberdeen

This was one of the Chinese banquet dinners we had in Hong Kong. We were dining with locals and they recommended we eat at the Paramount Banquet Hall restaurant.

0404HKNight058.jpg

The restaurant serves food in the Guangdong or Yue cuisine style where the flavours of food compliment the main ingredient of the dish rather than over power it.

I must say that I was a little bit wary about Guangdong or Yue style banquet food. It is renowned for “rare” ingredients such as snake, snails and all sorts of organ meats. But I didn't really need to worry. The locals we were dining with shared my same boundaries for exotic foods.

We started with a plate of traditional Chinese cold meats – jelly fish and pork. The jelly fish was as exotic as it got tonight.

0404HKNight067.jpg

We also got a platter of Siew Yoke, crispy skin roasted pork. The crackling was divine!

0404HKNight068.jpg

Lotus root with greens (Marilyn - shall we say...some green thingy??).

0404HKNight070.jpg

Abalone with home made fish balls. The abalone was perfectly done and beautifully tender.

0404HKNight073.jpg

Fish – I never quite worked out which type it was – and green vegetables.

0404HKNight074.jpg

Pork in a sweet and sour like sauce (now that I come to think of it, the sauce was more like a plum sauce). The pork had been fried with some sort of thin batter beforehand. The batter was a really thin skin, rather like tempura, and still had a slight crunch to it despite being coated with that lovely sauce.

0404HKNight076.jpg

These prawns had been steamed with gingko nuts.

0404HKNight078.jpg

This was the tofu dish, in an oyster based sauce. The tofu was wonderfully silky and soft inside; despite the fried puffiness on the outside.

0404HKNight079.jpg

The steamed fish. Perfectly done. The topping are pickled chinese vegetables. Rather unusual to my taste as I’m so used to having steamed fish with ginger and shallots and soya sauce.

0404HKNight082.jpg

Scallops with fried egg white. As you can see, the yolk was left whole and raw for us to mix in to the dish before serving.

0404HKNight083.jpg

The pork in this dish was really lean and tender. The sauce was more savoury i.e., salty than the sweet and sour we previously had.

0404HKNight086.jpg

This dish was technically not part of our banquet. DS needed something more ‘Western Chinese’ to eat.

0404HKNight084.jpg

Aside from DS’ fried rice, steamed rice was not served with this meal. Why? That's the way the locals eat. They focus on the dish and don't need to bulk up with carbohydrates.

We did finish up the meal with a complimentary plate of fruit……which included dragon fruit.

0404HKNight088.jpg

Dinner was fantastic value tonight. We were up for about $16 per person for this meal. Always eat where the locals eat!

Why were we in Aberdeen?

Because we were out visiting the Jumbo Kingdom Floating Restaurant. We just went to go-see; the locals did not recommend eating there.

Thank God she is okay! Also it is a good thing that she has good friends like you and Fran to care about her. I hope that she finds a great place nearby!

PIO- Beautiful pics as usual! Thank you for sharing!

I am so sorry that I have been spotty at best here. Crazy in my house but more than that!

WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yup, I am yelling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pixiedust:pixiedust:

Both Jeff and I got a great code for November so we booked the Beach Club CL and got free dining for all but one night. I was worried that Buddy would hem and haw because this is not a vacation week for him, he will lose his vacation day pay, and he hates when Kady is taken out of school. He did not even blink! Marisa was willing to sic Kady on him but no need, he is looking forward to spending some quality Kady/Pa time and she has made it clear that she expects him to spend as much time in the pool with him as possible. "Mom, if you and Dad and Nana want to go someplace I think Pa will stay with me. Right?????" He thought that was hysterical! We had to hurry and book ADR's because those four days at Thanksgiving will be crazy busy and I only had one day to my first reservation and 2 to the second. The concierge booked as much as he could and will book the rest as soon as Disney releases inventory. I am especially concerned about the CP, we need that package.

Kady requested Coral Reef so we are scheduled there and the Concierge will book it if at all possible. HE said he will help us tweak our dining as the speakers and restaurant packages are released.

We only could get standard view and unless Marisa wants to keep calling to try for garden I am calling it a day.

We are grilling today. I have hot dogs, hamburgers, macaroni salad.....not the one here, Buddy asked for his favorite. Cucumber and onion salad, cole slaw (store bought) Strawberry and pineapple jello salad, Ellen's lemon bars and double chip brownies.

I also have chips, garlic and dill dip, salsa and chips and assorted cheeses to have with crackers and pepperoni.

Whatever the kids bring will be added.

Everyone have a safe and Happy Holiday. Thank you to all our service men and women who gave their lives, their service and sacrifice so we can be grillin' and chillin' on this lovely weekend.

Nancy!!!!! How WONDERFUL!!! And exciting....and fantasmic.....and....and...

I'm so pleased for you. I'm sure that you will all have a great time at BC CL. Enjoy CP.

Nancy, that's awesome news!!!!! And BCV!!!!

That's great! Hopefully we can check out the place the month before you go, see if it's up to par!:lmao:

Fran- we can not stay in the Villas but we are at BC so it is all good!!!!!!!!

We booked
'Ohana for Thanksgiving night
Friday night: Spirit of Aloha
Saturday" Hoop-De-Doo (just Buddy Kady and Me)
Sunday: Rose and Crown-Dinner 'Ohana-Breakfast
Monday:Mama Melrose
Tuesday- Coral Reef
Thursday-Flying Fish
Friday- Crystal palace Early breakfast, Yachtsman- dinner
Saturday we leave

I know we need to tweak these but the concierge will help me to make sure that we get the times to watch the fireworks and the shows.

WE may cancel some of the breakfasts but Kady requested character meals, especially Chef Mickey so we added a few. It is not much to pay OOP for breakfast and honestly, Buddy will not be able to eat continental breakfast all week. The last time we stayed CL was at AKL and it was nice. He and Daniel mutinied and went out to breakfast a few times ;)
