Morning! Busy day here!!! Lots of kid stuff to do and then I get to go to a baby shower for my niece!!! This is her first baby, and we're really hoping she makes it to her due date. Emily is epileptic, and the medication she takes to stop her seizures is affecting the baby's growth. Emily is 8 months pregnant, but the baby is only "measuring" about 3 pounds. It's got her doctor's concerned. If you've got any prayers left to spare, Emily and her daughter Olivia, could sure use them!!!!

A baby shower :goodvibes Please keep us updated on Emily and the baby They are included in my prayers :grouphug:

Jay is in Ft. Worth working on a Train. We were so worried about him, but he actually was in Mcalester OK on the outward leg so missed it all. So glad you all ore ok!!

No baby yet. She did have a dr. appt. this morning. She is dialated to 2 and 70% effaced, so I think (for what it's worth) that it won't be too long. If she hasn't had the baby by Friday they are going to induce. I so hope she has it before then. She really doesn't want to be in the hospital over Easter. I just don't see why if this baby hasn't come why they can't wait till Monday to induce. But again, I am just the Grandmother and what do I know - NOTHING!!!

On a good note - it is raining. Has rained all night and all day. One of those really nice slow, drenching rains that do so much good. I don't like gray cloudy weather unless it's raining, so I am a happy girl today. We need this SO bad.
.

First, thank God that jay is okay! You must have been so worried!

I know why that stubborn little one is messing with you...............because she can. Notice I have decided she is a girl?:cloud9:

I hear you on the rain, Ellen. We are under a red flag warning here, it is dry as a bone and windy to boot. Not a good combination.

The man next door is having trees taken down and they are coming down teh old fashioned way The lumberjack shimmies up and limbs what he needs to, makes a notch in the trunk and pulls the thing down with a rope. Well it is freakin windy here, i mean really blustery. Buddy and I were watching through the kitchen window and just as teh tree started to fall the wind took it and spun it around sending it almost into the shed. Well that was the last one for the day. Last week a tree service man was killed taking trees down that were damaged last October in that nasty storm. He was a young man from our neighboring town and experienced. As he was working on a tree he sent his guys away saying the tree did not feel right. He did not make it away in time. Buddy and I were pretty uneasy watching those folks next door today after hearing how this young man passed away. :sad1:

So Kady called and wants her Chinese Buffet tonight. I am fine with that, I'll go see buddy's Mom tomorrow.

Girls, today I took Nola to have lunch with Kady at school. I was so proud of both of tehm. Kady treats Nola like a treasured little sister and Nola used her best manners. kady's friends were so cute with her. It was hard leaving though, Nola cried and wanted to stay with Kady and her friends but was okay after we took her picture in front of the school.

Jen ~ I am so glad you and the family are all right. Jay is in Ft. Worth working on a Train. We were so worried about him, but he actually was in Mcalester OK on the outward leg so missed it all. So glad you all ore ok!!

WFDT ~ sirloin steaks (grilled it it's not raining, broiled if it is) baked potatoes and sliced tomatoes with steamed yellow squash.

Make it a great day everyone.

So glad he's okay!!!

I love the rain too. As long as I'm home and not at work. Yesterday was a bit much for me.

Evening y'all!

Today was busy at work. But, tomorrow should be easier AND I only have one more day of work till my 3-day weekend!

I made tempura veggies and shrimp tonight. My first time doing it and OMG. YUM!!!!

Tomorrow will be taco pie for dinner.

:hug: all around!

Thanks everyone for thinking of me, but I'm really not doing as much as you all thin. I just don't get why I am so tired!

Jen - very glad that you are all OK, I was worried when I heard about the tornadoes there and not knowing exactly where you are, but somewhere near Dallas vicinity made me worried.

Ellen - That's so sweet of your husband to take such good care of you. I sure hope that baby comes soon that poor woman needs some relief!

Nancy - that's a terrible story about the tree cutter. I would love to go to a Chinese buffet! Have a great time!

Brandi - hope you enjoyed your pork chops!

WFD? Swiss Steak ala Paula Deen. Fran checked one of her cookbooks out of the library so we are trying some southern' cookin' for a while! ;)

Here you go Jen - I hope you like them.

Ham Balls

2 lbs. of ham (I use the canned hams)

1 1/2 lbs. ground beef

salt & pepper to taste

1 cup bread crumbs

2 eggs

1 cup milk

Mis all together and shape into balls. Place in 9x13 pan. (At this point they could be frozen and thawed to proceed.) Pour sauce over balls and bake at 350 for 1 1/2 hours or until done. Halfway through baking turn them over.

Sauce

1/2 cup vinegar

1/4 cup water

1 Tablespoon dry mustard -yellow works fine also

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

ENJOY!!!

Good morning gals,

Nan ~ That is just precious with Nola and Kady. You really do have some special girls there. They keep us young huh? I don't know what I would do with out my littles around me.

Jen ~ I posted the Ham Balls for you. I hope you like them, they are a family favorite here.
One more day till your 3 day weekend. Enjoy!!

Fran ~ So how did the swiss steak turn out? I have NEVER tried a recipe of Paula's that I didn't like.

Stephanie went to the Chiropractor/Accupunture yesterday and even though she feels crampy - nothing! This baby just has to be a little girl as she is being very stubborn. We both are at work this morning but who knows what the day will bring.

We have beautiful blue skies this morning. But the wonderful rain we got yesterday registered almost 3/4 of an inch. Yea...as we really really needed it.

Matthew and Elizabeth (his GF of almsot 8 months now) are coming home tomorrow - I can't wait. They haven't been home since Liam was baptized. It will be good to have him home for awhile.

WFDT ~ Roasted Chicken, Parm. rice, asperagus and squash stirfry.

Make it a great day!!

The Pork Chops were really nice, we butterflied them, light dusted with flour and spices, pan fried, deglazed with a little white wine, add some cream and made a little pan sauce with onions.

Baked some potatoes and roasted some asparagus.

Ellen - the Swiss Steak was pretty good. We'll have it again sometime. There was a lot. I made a pound, the recipe called for 1 1/2 pounds, but that was for four and we're only two.

Brandi - the Pork chops sound really good!

OK, sorry for anyone who has seen this already but I'm keeping all my peeps informed. We have an update with Fran and it's not good and good sort of all at the same time. Basically the home nurse referred her to a wound care center, which she went to yesterday. They checked her out, did a lot of invasive scraping of the leg, poking and prodding and determined that the infection last Fall didn't really "heal", the skin just closed up over it. So the little germies just hung out inside her leg waiting until it was a good time to spoil our trips. Then Voila! The skin fell off and the little bugaboos jumped out to give their command performance.

However this time we have been fighting them with anibiotics before they could really take hold, and this Dr. wants to go in and scrape out any last remnants of the infection before it can go back to cellulitis. He put her in for surgery tomorrowso she has the maximum possible healing time before our WDW trip.

Of course she didn't tell them about Vegas. She has a follow up next week on Wednesday. The bad is that she has to have surgery, but the good is that hopefully it will lick this thing once and for all. By going in and removing what's left, she should hopefully only have tissue in her leg and not the yellowy stuff that has been inhibiting her healing.

I'm trying to book a massage for me while she is in surgery so I am relaxed and ready to take care of her when she comes out of the hospital.

Alison, it sounds like it was a good thing to go ahead and have this taken care of. I am so sorry that you both are having to go through this again but I know this time it will be much better.

A massage sounds like a good thing for you too my dear! You have to take care of yourself and be ready for the trenches!

Hugs my friend..

Ham Balls

These would be a family-pleaser for sure. I can see why these are a favorite in your house. That sauce sounds YUM!!!

Thank you SO much for going through all of that work to post the recipe. :hug:

I'm glad they're taking care of Fran. We'll be thinking of you guys tomorrow.

Is this an out-patient procedure?

~~~~~~~~~~~
Hi y'all!
My 3-day weekend is here!
We had taco pie for dinner tonight. I have some big cooking coming up this weekend so I wanted something easy tonight.
Tomorrow I'm making some roasted eggplant paninis with a roasted red pepper sauce. I hope they turn out good.
Not sure what else we'll be doing this Easter weekend. I'm just looking forward to being home with my family.
Y'all have a good evening!
Is this an out-patient procedure?
Yes, I'm glad that they are just going in there and taking care of her, not taking the "less agressive" course of action.
It is outpatient. I've already planned the sushi restaurant and Day spa that I'm going to while she is in there. I will be nice and relaxed and ready to take her home! :thumbsup2
IT'S BABY DAY!!!!
Stephanie and Marty called at 6:30 and they were on their way to the hospital. She is in Labor!! WooHoo!!!
I will let you all know as soon as I can. Please keep her in your prayers - now I just wish this was over.
Thanks for everything - you all are the BEST!!!
YAY!!!!! :woohoo:
It's baby day!!!
We're having a new foodie baby!!!
Thinking of you Ellen/grandma!
Also, sending good thoughts to Fran and Alison. :hug:
Ellen, I am so excited for you... Prayers coming, please let us know...
Alison, I have you both in my thoughts, please keep us informed.
Ellen- baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cloud9::cloud9: I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course Stephanie and our new little WFD'er is in my prayers! You must be so excited, but please let us know!
Allison- Holy Moly! Good news all the way around if you ask me! Well not teh surgery but that there is a huge light at the end of the pain is wonderful. I am so glad that you are taking some time for you so that you can care for Fran, I was getting very worried. You say you are not doing much but between the stress and worry and the actual work you do it all adds up.
Last night Buddy and I ate at his cousin's house. I had .................KFC and some sort of potato cheese and sauerkraut casserole that was good after some salt and pepper and some butter. No one else liked it but I think it had a lot of potential. See.....................Nanatize!
Thanks! After a several hour delay the surgery fi ally went off without incident. She is in major pain, understandably, when they go digging around in your leg how could it be pleasant? But hopefully the healing begins.
For those of you not on facebook, Ellen posted a picture of the new baby GIRL!!! Lillian Rose. She is beautiful!!! Congratulations to Ellen and family!!!
As for us, we just got home from our family Easter Egg hunt. It was a lot of fun, although there was some drama. We expected it, though, so it was easy to avoid.
Now, I'm going to rest for a while, before braving the crowds at the store for some last minute Easter stuff.
The stores are crazy, I just got back!
Glad you were able to avoid the drama.
She's a GIRL!!!!
7 lbs. 5 oz.
We got our Girl. She is just precious!! Stephanie had a picture perfect labor and delivery. She went into labor before they were to induce. Lilly was born at 5:15 p.m. Mother and baby (and proud Daddy - who has not come out of the clouds yet) are doing great.
Thank you all for your prayers. They worked. When we woke up this morning Doug looked at me and said, "I need to get a second job so we can spoil these Grandbabies". I said, "Oh yes you will - Lilly needs shoes, tutus, hair bows etc.". He just agreed. Oh being a Nanny is the best!!!
Happy Easter my dear dear friends.
