Ladies, thanks for understanding. SIS IL is not reasonable lately. She has gotten so wrapped up in her own stuff that she forgets that others have stuff too. It is not all about her. Buddy had enough when my Mom was so sick and could not be left alone. I was staying there on Christmas Eve because I wanted to see Kady get her gifts from Santa. My sister my DSIL had taken shifts that worked for them but they really were making sure that I was home in the morning. I cannot tell you the grief I got from my DMIL and SIS IL that I was staying with my Mom. Buddy heard the entire stressful conversation and told me that he was done. He has still gone along with everything that he does becasue these people are my children's family but he is very grudging.

I am going on the 17th because my niece is here from Fl. This is another issue for SIL IL. :sad2: Jen is 35 and is one of the loveliest young women I know. She is now in a very serious relationship and will not be here for Christmas. When her Meme was alive she never missed one and dragged her brother here as well but now she wants to spend the holiday with her BF. SIS Il is leaving in the morning to "check the guy out" and will return on Sunday night. I hope that she does not overstep too much to spoil Jen's trip home on Friday.

What is really sad is that she and I have been close for 40 years adn this is breaking my heart. She is so different lately and not in a good way.

Nancy I am sorry for all of the holiday-related drama you are going through. Your SIL sounds like she is being rather selfish. Holidays bring out the worst in people sometimes.

Aimee, I hope the wisdom teeth extraction goes well today! I agree with Lindsay--lots of ice to keep the swelling down! Also be sure to follow the doctor's instructions to avoid the dreaded "dry sockets." Yuck!

Glynis, I can see why you want to have a casual dinner on Christmas with everything else you are doing! The kids will love picking out their appetizers anyway. Hmm....I just might steal this idea!

I am not sure what I am making for Christmas yet. Still trying to figure out who will and will not be around. I am making good headway with my holiday shopping though. Caili is done, Liam is almost done, as is John. Have any of you ladies used shutterfly? I used that site to make John a photo album. It was a lot of fun! You can choose backgrounds and borders etc. Plus it was a lot faster than traditional scrapbooking!!

WFD: I have some leftover roasted chicken in the fridge from the other night, so maybe something with that. I don't have a lot of food in the house right now because I didn't go shopping this past weekend.

My SIS IL is furious! She and her DH will still be here on Christmas Day and they are welcomed at Gails but they are not happy. No compassion for gail what so ever :headache: and I am not happy.

Yer SIS IL huz nae idea of furious !!!! :mad:

In and out in a day lass....in and out in a day. :cool2:

Jen- the dump cake is so easy. Use a 9x13 in pan and dump in:

Brandi- I am with the rest on a special event. I know you said that AKL did not need to be part of this but I want to share Buddy's birthday. He hates being the center of attention but we were in Disney for his day so we decided to go all out! Now you need to remember that Buddy is an old fashioned man and so everyone was his treat whenever we had cocktails or dinner so it is not easy to make his birthday special. Well we got him! Those CM's are craftyt people and even if we did not ask for something special they would hear us talking about his aging person and you know wherer that all went. He even had a diver at Coral Reef! Made his trip! The best part for us was when the Flight Attendant on SOuthwest Air asked if anyoen was celebrating and KAdy told her that her Pa was. He had to wear a crown :lmao: just liek teh attendant!

Brandi - somehow I missed that you were going to have surgery. I am so sorry that I did, but pray all goes well.

Nancy, the dump cake sounds so good... I know this is going to sounds crazy but I wonder if pumpkin filling would work... I had a pumpkin chocolate chip cake from Duff and I was wondering how this would make that...

David and I go to WDW for our anniversary almost every year, so I was thinking that I would take him somewhere just for him... But we love celebrating at WDW, they are some amazing people.

About the surgery, it is ok, I will have my foot operated on, and be out of work for 6 weeks...

Hope you'll be home soon! :hug:

We're having the apps for Christmas day too! No fancy schmancy dinners here! We'll just be snacking all day! :teeth:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Good afternoon lovelies!
I feel better. It hit me late this morning. All of a sudden BOOM! The meds kicked in.
Jen,
I am home safe and sound.... The rain storm almost did me in on the plane last night. But I made up for it with Mexican food...:rotfl:
We always do apps for Christmas also, and stay away from the heavy dinner, BUT this year I will be with my Dad and Step Mom, and she wants to make a big dinner....
I am so glad that you are feeling better.
Normally, I make a large Christmas dinner... it's one thing Alan requests. However, no one but Alan really wants it. The kids snack on cookies, chips and dips, etc., all day long, and are never really hungry by dinner time. So, I'm putting my foot down this year. Now, if Alan wants to cook Christmas dinner (and clean up, too), that's just fine, but I'm not going all out! I figure, I have to think up the presents, buy the presents, wrap the presents, stuff the stockings, make dinner on Christmas Eve, and get everyone ready for Church on Christmas morning, that I can afford to be a bit hard nosed about this! I've got too much on my plate this year!
Be sure and take pictures... I always do when David cooks and cleans :scared1:
Hey friends! Today was a normal Wednesday - busy!
I'm having my wisdom teeth out in the morning :sick: It's needed to be done for awhile and since I didn't get hospitalized this year, I had flex spending money left :laughing: My mom is taking me so DH doesn't have to take a day off. I hope to be eating something tomorrow night but it may be soup!
Prayers for you..
safe travels and happy homecoming!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks :goodvibes
Brandy Hopefully your flight home went well. I never threw in my 2 cents on the b day thing. For my dad's 50th we had everyone bring a favorite picture that included him or write a favorite memory. While my dad loved a party he was not comfortable being the "star" but he really liked all the pictures and the memories that came that day.
That sounds sweet too, We are here all alone, we don't have many people that have known us very long, it might be hard to get friends here.. But I love the idea, maybe when we move back home!
Yer SIS IL huz nae idea of furious !!!! :mad:
In and out in a day lass....in and out in a day. :cool2:
I knew i could count on you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Brandi-I am not sure how it would be. I don't think it hurts to try, the ingredients are not expensive so no harm no foul. The recipe is pretty forgiving, I usually do not use anything but a dunkin hines cake mix but for this crumble on top any mix will do.
I am sitting here in the office just outside the bedrooms. Rylee has tried everything to get up but gave up when Nana scolded her. :sad1: She know how to use teh potty and had gotten up at least 5 times with that excuse ;) Nola is in kady;s room and has taken the phone out of Pluto's mouth, needed to have the batteries taken out of the Christmas clock, jinglrd Christmas Minnies bells until i thought I would :dance3: and is now singing to Minnie. They are nothing if not resourceful :rotfl2:
Nancy- I'm sorry for all that's going on, especially since you have been friends for so long. It looks like it's shaping up to be an interesting Christmas here too. It sounds like the girls are providing a fun distraction for you.
Becky- I'm planning on making one of those photo albums of our house construction, I think it will be a lot of fun. I saw one of my friends wedding and they come out so nice, and they don't cost much at all.
Jen- I wouldn't use dried rosemary on the rolls, I don't think it would be a nice texture. I didn't have rosemary the other night so I used a grill seasoning I had in a grinder. It was garlic and crushed red pepper, came out pretty tasty. I would get the rosemary, then you'll need to use it up so you can make lots of rolls!
Kathy- It finally got cold here too! It was in the 60's, now we are in the high 30's. I hope the winter stays this mild.
Aimee- Hope your home resting comfortably.
I think we're having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, unless I come up with something else.
Aimee- good luck with the teeth. I had two differant surgeries for mine that included a biopsy of a cyst in the roof of my mouth with the removal of one tooth and the removal of the cyst and two teeth with the second. :headache:
There is one tooth left, it was too close to my sinus cavity to remove, and I think it wants out now. :sad2: Just a few weeks after my broken tooth scare a little lump has shown on the outside of my gum right where that daggone tooth is supposed to be. Every time I touch it I feel pressure in the teeth below it. :headache: Why couldn't this have happened when they were taking the insurance allowed x-rays?!?! :mad:
Have to get shopping tonight, my Angel Tree stuff is due tomorrow. I got all of the toys she wanted, I just need an outfit for her.
I have lots to get done this weekend and my DN has a swim meet too. I think I need a nap already.
What a nice idea! my DDIL's Mom started a recipe box for her when she hosted her shower and sent the cards to me so that I could request favorites from our family and friends who attended the shower that I hosted. I think she got a lot of wonderful recipes!
Yes, it has been one of my favorite gifts! :goodvibes I will cherish it forever.
Things are ok on my end. I found out this morning I need a root canal. The office isn't open on fridays (:confused3) so I'm scheduled for 8am on Monday! I feel a bit bummed, but I'm ready for it to be over with.
WFD: Black bean soup (from Trader Joes), Corn muffins and a green salad.
WFD - Eggs over easy, hashbrowns, bacon, biscuits (butter and Jelly) and bloody mary's :worship:
WFD was Popeye's. We are leaving for the library soon. I love when someone cooks my dinner. If only someone would come and clean my house.:rolleyes1
Oh Nan. I know you'll make the most of your holiday. It's nice to have this place to vent.
There is no better homecoming meal than Mexican.
We have some herbs that should do the trick! Thanks.
Oy Mar. After my tooth thing a few months ago I can only say that I sympathize. Get it taken care of before it affects anything else... :hug:
I had a root canal a few months ago. You'll feel so much better after!
------
Work was loooong today and in the middle of the day I started feeling yuck again. The doc is going to call in another antibiotic for me so hopefully that'll do the trick.
UncleR ran around like a mad woman today and then made salsbury steak and mashed potatoes. What a wonderful wife I have.
Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!!!!
Has the tooth actually broken through yet? If so, get that looked at. It sounds super similar to what I have now, and its actually an infection. I don't want to scare you, but if it persists definitely get it looked at!
Goofyluver, feel better! Sounds like no fun.
Good morning ladies! :goodvibes It's Friday! :cool1::cool1::cool1:
Today I have a few meetings at work, and we also have a luncheon. I made bacon ranch dip/aka crack. It's yummy. :cloud9:
We have some things to take care of this weekend...so it's not going to be the relaxing weekend I had hoped, but only one more week until Christmas break! :cool1:
Tonight's dinner is UncleR's junk/sausage potato bake.
Make today a good one!
Popping in to say howdy. The Christmas party went well yesterday. I had really stressed out about it though. I do that when I have to sing more than one song. Anyway, it's over and I can relax now :)
Scott is off today and we are going to our class Christmas party tonight, so no cooking for me.
Sorry to post and run but I've got to get crackin'!
Morning, all! We had a really fun night, last night! After Alan got home from work, we took the kids to a local place called Thanksgiving Point, for the evening. They were having an ice sculpture contest, visits with Santa, a petting zoo with Santa's reindeer, and live musical entertainment! The kids had a ball with the whole thing. Katie was fascinated by the ice sculpture, and the rest of the kids loved the reindeer! We capped it all off by going to the ice cream parlor, and having a treat. Very fun!
Today is bowling!!! Hooray!!! After that, I'll come home, and do laundry until everyone gets home. Boo!!! Tonight we are driving to a small town nearby that does an incredible Christmas light display. We do this every year, and it really sets the mood for the rest of the season! We'll have dinner before we go, then bundle everyone up for the trip.
Dinner tonight is one I found on pinterest. Lasagna soup. Hope it's yummy! It sure sounded and looked good on the site!
morning everyone, I am off from work today, I have the pre-op appointment with my surgeon today..:sick: I feel green already...
Then I am working on our dinner plans for the next week and will go grocery shopping this evening when David gets home from work.
Hope everyone has a great day...
It hasn't yet. I've had an infection in my teeth before and I have a gland in my chin that gets puffy when that happens and it is fine. I am hoping to make it to January when my new FAS kicks in, I am already paid out for this year.
The funny thing is I had been having problems for a long time with pain in the tooth under it, cold stuff would kill me and eating on it was absolutely out.:headache: Then I had horrible pain starting on a Friday, didn't sleep at all the first night, Ibuprofen and Aleve didn't work, got to the point that I couldn't even touch my teeth together. I was using ora-gel which did help but it was horrible. :headache:
At one point on Saturday I felt this sharp edge and thought it was broken, it wasn't. Sitting on the couch on Sunday evening and felt something on my tongue, it was a small piece of popcorn kernal, which I had not had any of in several weeks. :confused: The pain started abating and was gone by the next morning and since then it's been great which means that kernal was in there for a very long time and the bad pain was it working it's way out. :eek:
I had been really good about flossing and use a water flosser as well so that thing must have been stuck pretty far down that all that would not bring it out.
