Merle ~ Good for you on the kitchen make over. Sounds nice.

My DM called, the guy came today, and she said it looks great.She ended up getting a new sink as well when she went back to Home Depot yesterday. I took before pics this morning and will take afters tonight and will post them once I upload them.

Now she's planning new lights in the stairwells, we have two hanging lights in the entry and upper hallway, and wants to put down wood laminate flooring in the dining area. The only problem with that is what to do about the stairs. We can't afford real hardwood floors and the laminate is out for the stairs. We may just have to re-carpet that area.

Dinner tonight will be a grilled portabello mushroom burger with sweet potato fries.

:

Excuse me. I remember your steaks quite well.

...uhhh...what? No, no, no....errrrr......that wasn't me.....ummmmm, you're confusing me with someone ELSE....yeah, that's it - confusing me with, with, with,....uhhhh, PiO! :blush:

Glynis- it is kind of nice that there is Peace after you say goodbye isn't it? I am not sure when it happened for me but while I miss my Mom so much I have developed a different relationship with her now. Thank you Marisa! for putting it into perspective for me, she said she doesn't miss Memere at all.............she talks to her every day. I bet you have that same relationship with your Mom as well as those other loved ones who have passed on. I am glad that your day brought good memories!

Kimmar- your kitchen is going to be lovely! Now don't laugh but there is no way I would dirty my brand new stove on the first day............:rotfl2: Makes Buddy crazy................he got one heck of a dirty look when he wanted me to cook bacon when I had a stove delivered not too long after we married. Bacon??????????? Seriously????????????????? On a new stove??????????????? No.

Ellen- Lent is so busy for you! It sure is a beautiful time of year though.

Jen- Spring Break and cleaning? I think you all have Spring Fever :goodvibes

Marilyn- Another one with a makeover! I love lights so new ones would make me thrilled!

Brandi- awesome pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to lick the screen!

I am not sure how to work dinner into tonight. I need to get over to visit MIl after the girls leave and then a lot of shopping. I got some done this morning but I am not used to shopping with little ones so I have a lot more to go.

My DH sister was supposed to visit but now she says she is not going anymore. Buddy is upset but I am not going to judge her, his Mom was not nice and if this is not working for her then I will let it go. The truth is that the only one who is not overly worked up seeing her is me because I don't have the history to get in the way. She just got over pneumonia and her wound is healing. She gets out of bed every day but it takes a lot out of her. She is doing as best as she can though. We are lucky, the staff is caring so that makes a huge difference in how she is I think.

....:eek: how BLASPHEMOUS! :snooty:

Brandi~ UncleR says on your trip across Texas, please stop here. You can make us calimari. I will make you whatever the hell you want as long as you make calimari. :lmao:

Nan~ I'm with you. No dirtying up my new stove.

Sorry about Buddy's mom. You'd think that having her in the home would make things easier, guess that's not the case. :guilty:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My house smells SO good with this corned beef going.
I'm also excited. I got a new cookbook today. It's "The Unofficial Mad Men Cookbook" and it's filled with recipes from the show and from the 50's and 60's. And LOTS of booze. :teeth:
AND, we ordered some nice mango and ginger stilton from an online specialty store. It just got here. So, if you don't see me for a while, I'm busy with the cheese.
Fran ~ Wow, your meal for your meeting sounds amazing. I wish I was coming. Would you please share your recipe for shrimp chips? Never ever heard of them, but they sound interesting.
....well, the saga of the missing stove is FINALLY OVER!!!! today I'll be cooking on my BRAND-EY NEW STOVE!!!!
...no food porn from me....
Excuse me. I remember your steaks quite well.
I don't know what that says about me...or you...:rolleyes1
...uhhh...what? No, no, no....errrrr......that wasn't me.....ummmmm, you're confusing me with someone ELSE....yeah, that's it - confusing me with, with, with,....uhhhh, PiO! :blush:
I think it's high time that we have the discussion with your DH about your food porn problem! :rolleyes:
Brandi - Lovely food porn.
Jen - Lovely food porn too. Between you and Brandi, I'm hungry.
Nancy - I miss being here too.
Glynis - Sorry about that family. :hug:
Marilyn - Congrats on the weight loss! I'd sure love to lose 4 lbs in the next month, but I'm at a plateau at the moment.
Ellen - Hope the tax is over and done with for the year.
Kimmar - Congrats on the stove. But now you'll be cooking on and cleaning it! ;) And I think you need to sort out your food porn issues with DH too.
Alison - Yes, life is rather busy at the moment.
It's been a typical start to Autumn this year. Hot, balmy, wet, cold, sunny but all the time fantastic. It was a wonderful mid 70s sunny day yesterday. Today we have showers and its awfully dark outside.
Food wise, we've been pretty repetitive with pastas, soups, noodles, rice, baked potatoes etc.
This was the winter soup that I made the other week..leeks, carrots and potato.
I've been harvesting tomatoes from the garden. We ended up with over 5 kilos of ripe tomato the other day and I made a batch of tomato sauce. It's been frozen for pasta meals for the next month.
We've been out enjoying one of the festivals that happens in Melbourne around this time....Moomba!
I have no idea what aubergines are. :lmao:
Marilyn - Congrats on the weight loss! I'd sure love to lose 4 lbs in the next month, but I'm at a plateau at the moment.
Thanks. They say you should change the way you currently do something. For example eat 5 small meals instead of 3 bigger ones, completely change an exercise routine. :thumbsup2
Eggplant. Had to look that one up, couldn't place it myself.
Dinner tonight was pretty good and I should have taken pics but I couldn't find my camera. I took the before pictures of the kitchen right before I left for work and asked my DM to put the camera down in the family room for me before she left for work. Couldn't find it anywhere. I was sitting on the couch in the living room watching TV and saw it sitting on the floor behind the TV stand. :confused:
I made a portabello mushroom burger on the grill and put it on a thin bread roll w/ blue cheese, pickels, lt. mayo, red onion and lettuce. Had it with grilled asparagus with a little olive oil, lemon zest, salt and pepper then sprinkled it with lemon just after it was grilled. I also had some sweet potato fries. :cloud9: So good.
Well diner went from leftover Weinerschnitzel, then El Torito Grill, now at quarter to nine it will be Lonestar Steakhouse.
...stuffed WHAT???!!!?!?!
I'm thinkin' thasss her fancy way o' sayin' peppers...
Bell peppers. And capsicum is what we call it here. Bell Peppers is the fancy way. :rotfl:
Eggplant or aubergines works over here.
I think I need to change the exercise routine...or rather start one. Thanks!
The other one that I'll fall in the trap of saying is coriander....you call it cilantro. :laughing:
Brandi- awesome pics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to lick the screen!
Thanks! All of the food was wonderful and we so enjoyed it!
Well we will have to work something out.... Now time for me to figure out what I want...:rotfl:
Brandi - Lovely food porn.
Glad I could help....
This! soup looks lovely! and you festival pictures are beautiful!
Morning, everyone! It's another busy day around here.
I've got a costume to put the finishing touches on, bread to bake, Scout homework to get Jacob to finish up, and a husband at home because of Spring Break that's driving me crazy!!! Oh, well!
The lemon chicken last night was just ok. I used boneless skinless breasts, and I really think, for this recipe, the skin would have made all the difference.
Tonight is something with hamburger. Not quite sure yet. I'll let y'all know when I figure it out!
:lmao:
Here, coriander is the seed, rather than the herb. I want to listen to you talk. :rotfl:
You're running like crazy, G!
~~~~~~~~~~~

Good afternoon!

Today I'm making homemade fried chicken. I brined it over night, and I'm SO excited to try it out.

Other than that, I took J and Big C out shopping today. Picked up some groceries to get us through the next several days.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

PIO, your Moomba pics were great! Did I already say that here?

Brandi, the pics of your dinner the other night look wonderful!

Glynis, I don't know how you keep up with your schedule! I'm tired just reading about your exploits.

Jen, Sounds like you're enjoying your spring break! PIO is very fun to listen to in person. I'm looking forward to seeing her again in about 18 months! :goodvibes:

WFD? Tonight I'm gonna try to heat up the leftover Wienerschnitzel with some spaetzle. However we are again on course for another late night as we are on course to be in bed until well after noon again.
