The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

It is going to be my second. I am overdue because of my pregnancy. I am nervous because of our awful family history and my brother having some recent issues.

 I bet you'll sleep better at night once you know things were clean and normal (which I'm sure they are!).

I'm ashamed to say that's something else that I should have been doing for a long time. Daddy had colon cancer too. The poor man had so many things.:sad2:

KAT! March your skinny booty down to the GI and schedule that appt! Colon cancer is easily treated IF caught in time!

My GI informed me that due to my "fast moving and severe Crohns disease" Ill be having one in 4-6 months to ensure things aren't getting bad again. We always called my disease "moderate" until they went in and saw all the damage that couldn't be seen on CT/Small bowel/Colonoscopy. :headache: I'd honestly rather have a GI willing to be extra aggressive in keeping an eye on things over one that decides I am good until symptoms show back up.

Good morning everyone

Ellen, wow what a day Hope everything is cleaned up today and you can enjoy a bit of the weekend

We are heading to Connecticut today to watch my daughter in a cheerleading competition. We have never been to this particular college and the campus is supposed to be beautiful On the way home we're getting chinese food to bring back to have with my son. He is not coming with us . an afternoon of cheerleaders pumped up on competition adrenilin is not his thing

I guess as soon as I'm done with this heart thing I'll have to ask my primary doc to refer me to a GI?

Joanne - Have a safe trip and have fun!

WFD - Filet mignon, PW's crash hot potatoes and creamed spinach.

CT Gal here! What college are you looking at, if you do not mind sharing?

OH my! How is you DSIL today? Kidney stones are not joke, Jeff kept passing out when he had them.

And then the rest of the day

The test will make you feel better, then you know everything is okay.

Kat......Kat......Kat...... Go. to. the. Dr. PLEASE. Not yelling, just fussing.

Well I am tired! We had a nice night but late night and early Mass do not make for a perky Nan ;) I'll talk to Buddy about dinner later.

Hey Y'all,

I haven't read everything yet. I did see that Kathy is getting fussed at again!
This time I have to come to her defense! My gastro doc & Kat's parent's doctor are one in the same. I loved him & Kathy also (dealing with him for her parent's) thought he was wonderful. BUT, I have since learned that he has punctured 3 patients colons during routine colonoscopies. I have confirmed that this was true. So Kathy & I have both been putting off the checkup because we don't know who do go through.

Ellen, I'm sorry for your SonIL, I have heard how painful that can be.

Aimee, I'm glad you're dr is going to be proactive with your illness.

Here's a food pic of dinner last night, then I'll go read back what I missed yesterday.

Chicken Paprikash with Hungarian Nokedli. ( My 1st homemade dumplings/gnocchi ) Served it with (hungarian) cucumber & onion salad.

My dumplings were UGLY! But they tasted light & yummy. The ones I tried to make pretty were tougher from playing with the dough too much.

:scared1: Yeah, time to find a new GI! Mine is awesome... too bad y'all are too far away. Maybe a new GI will give you two a discount if you go together!

I made it to church today! So good to be back but I slowly wore down as the morning went on. Got home and found that Winston and Harley had quite a time while we were gone. Poor Lucy is crated in the living room so she got to watch but not participate  Winston opened the pantry doors, dumped the trash can and ate anything partially edible in it, plus pulled food off the shelves and ate that. Harley ate some, but I'm not sure how much. Because of their gorging, both had accidents we had to clean up and both are QUITE pitiful right now. Drank bowls of water and are moaning and groaning. Serves them right! Neither will be getting dinner tonight so their tummies can rest - just Lucy will eat. I need to get baby locks on my pantry just for my dang dogs!

If I muster up the energy, I'm hitting the grocery store and will make something that I buy. If I don't muster up the energy, we'll get something out I guess.

Aimee Maybe if you feed them they wouldn't have to fix breakfast for themselves:rolleyes1. Seriously I had a dog that I swear was the antichrist .She could get out of any closed room and dissect the garbage with surgical precision. Egg shells would be neatly place on my bed, coffee filters with coffee still in there under the pillows, but tin cans had teeth marks through them :scared1:

Just in case anyone it needing recipes from our old thread, not the orginal, but the one we started when things got to much for the dis. Any who I finished cutting and pasting that one to Word. I still need to finish the orginal. That one is in so many pieces.

Sheryl, your GI story kinda frightened me a bit. But I do know I am going to the best practice for this procedure in RI. Now on the other hand your food porn looked good to me!

Aimee & Ann, Yes I'm frightened about the doctor. I really need to get checked out, my IBS has really been acting up, I just haven't had any good recommendations on another dr.

Aimee, What a mess! Yeah I would invest in some locks to control those pups!

Nancy, Thanks for asking about Bob. He is feeling a lot better! Guzzling lots of cranb. juice & water. We checked with a pharmacist friend & she said that 7 days of the meds, should be enough unless it's a bad uti. I do think it was a bad one, but of course since he's already feeling better, he will finish the rx & see if it's gone before even considering going to the dr.

SHeryl- I remember that you told me about the GI Dr. That really is scary adn I also would put off the test until I could decide what to do.

I am glad Bob is better, a UTI is PAINFUL!

Aimee- your dogs had a field day! What a present to come home to!

Janice- everytime I think I am going to add a dog to our home I see what teh little darlings do. Then i reconsider! I could not bring another pet here now, my kitties are just too old to adjust but I am going to chat with you when the time comes :lmao:

Buddy is having a meal from last nights leftovers. I have been grazing all afternoon so I am just having wine for now.

Nancy Yes I have had my share of evil little pets. But I couldn't imagine life without those little pest I mean pets. I think it is a lot like having multiple kids. Some are good some not so good.

Nan, He's feeling so good, that he just booked another vacation! AKL for early June! :rolleyes1

SHeryl- Your Hubby is on a roll! I love AKL!

Nan, This is funny, he thinks he's getting the most out of his money! Getting more uses on the annual pass, the Tables in Wonderland Discount card, & his DVC points saves money. Even funnier is he is on the phone again booking a safari/wine dinner! Yeah we're saving money alright. Don't think I'm saying any of this to him! :rotfl:

Sheryl -- I would definitely be looking for another doctor! I'm glad Bob is feeling better. He must be feeling great to be booking vacations! Lucky you! I read your latest post, and we have been trying to sneak in an extra trip somewhere too because we got APs this time, and we paid more than we should have. Another vacation would probably cost more than the difference though.

Aimee and Janice -- Stories like yours make me glad Liam is allergic to dogs. Aimee, I hope you are resting tonight.

Joanne -- I hope your daughter and her team did well. I can't say that I blame your son for skipping out. Skating competitions are torture for Liam. He does like seeing Caili skate, but that is only 90 seconds of the two hours that we are usually there.

Dinner at my mom's was good. She made roast beef, gravy, roasted potatoes, green beans and spinach gratin. It was yummy. However, I couldn't help staring at Becky's dinner (too much snow at her ILs, so she was there). Wait until you see the picture. :faint: I didn't dare ask for a bite, lest my mom thought I didn't like her food, but WOW it looked good. I am definitely having scallops this week.

Wow - that is a smart dog! Lucy is my smartest dog and I prefer mine stupid :rotfl: Harley the Shih Tzu is dumb as a box of rocks and while that pays off most of the time, he was HARD to pottytrain. Just couldn't put two and two together. :sad2: I need something in between.

:woohoo: on the recipe collecting!!

:yay:

I can't wait to see Becky's dinner picture!

:thumbsup2 Yeah...I love Bob!!!! It is the best having a Disney loving travel agent hubby...I speak from experience.

Sheryl- Sorry I missed Bob not feeling well. Hope his meds make it clear up fast.

I would have loved to see the US win the gold. The US hockey coach grew up in the same town I did. He is such a class act and a great guy from a supper family.

I am feeling crappy from my monthly visitor. Looking forward to my kids goin got bed and being able to laydown.

Mwha-ha-ha!!!! You must not have noticed that Dad stole a scallop and some risotto from my plate. We could not eat the roast beef my Mom made because John had clients out at Mortons twice last week and has another steakhouse dinner with another client this week. I try to limit his red meat to once a week. So instead I made this seared scallops with pumpkin risotto:

No wonder Laura wanted some!

Ann, Sorry you're not feeling well!

Believe you me, I'm not complaining about my WDW addicted hubby! Although I had mentioned going somewhere besides Disney, but I guess I'll have to let him get this "getting the most out of his money" phase pass before that will happen!

Janice, You've pasted ALL the recipes from one of the threads?! Wow that's industrious!
