The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

I can finally post something other than frozen pizza!:woohoo:

Last night we had T-bones and bakers with salad w/sweet vidalia dressing.

The new Dole Baby blends are great! I got the sassy blend and am now in love with it!

And the steaks set off the smoke detectors coming out of the broiler- so it's a good thing I made Riick do them....;)

Tonight we're doing mussels in garlic/white wine/butter and bread and salad.

FINALLY! I can post WFD!!!!!:rotfl2:

Lori Yeah you finally have a real kitchen:woohoo:. Smoke detectors was how my BIL knew they were done.:rolleyes1 Try putting a fan on when broiling that might help.

Gretchen It is hard to see them all banged up. And I think you are a great person and friend. Prayers continuing for Jessica.

Tonight we are having flank steak brocolli and rice.

Gretchen, you & Jessica continue to be in my prayers.

Aimee, you need to slow down......

Dinner was Sea Bass in white wine with white beans & chopped tomato. I sauteed spinach & garlic for a side.

Having chili DM made with chopped red onion, cheese and sour cream.

Well got home and the street is not done and DM says it was the apartment complex that did the plowing. But the glacier at the end of our street is pushed back and about 4 feet higher than it was. I'm wondering if it was the county and they were making room to add more snow and will be back tomorrow when they can hopefully have a fairly open way to plow.

ummm, I love your (our) frozen pizzas, no doubt about that. But everyday? That kinda gets old, after days after days after days after days.......well, I got old of eating it. I'm now shaving off my beard......

And there's more utensils in FL now.

Oh, I hear you! When we moved down here, the truck took something stupid like 8 days. So we had 8 days with no kitchen items except a pizza tray and slicer we picked up at Walmart and a few cups. :headache: We ate "out" at fast food a lot too. I think we had packed a few kitchen items in our luggage but it wasn't much. We could only bring down what fit in airplane luggage (as in, one checked bag and one carry on each).

They are having an Aints paper bag jazz funeral tomorrow.

Oh....and (from one of the comments on that article...but I checked it out):
The Saints opened Wall Street today....the DOW was up 9 points - the number of Drew Brees!

Kathy, nice pics!
Lori, congrats on the new kitchen being ready. Your meal sounds good.
Here is a picture of the shrimp curry from the other day:

Not sure WFD yet...something quick after we get everyone back here after the kids events today. Maybe linguini with clam sauce?

Ladies, your frozen pizzas look good to me! I have been in a cooking slump so we are eating the same old stuff daily. Last night I had PB&J on toast! Buddy will eat just about anything but he :snooty: at that :lmao: He had egg salad sandwiches. Of course we dressed it up with a glass of merlot :rotfl:. Does that make it dinner???????

Oh well, today I am going to clean this house! It is atrocious. I keep it picked up but have not pulled everything out and scrubbed for two weeks. Maybe I'll get the Easter things up but first I need to take the Valentine decorations down.Dinner? Once agin I have no idea!

Good Morning. Trying to keep up here...if I miss something just know I love you all!

Aimee, I hope you are feeling better today.

Vickie, Hugs for you. I hope everything works out for you.

Gretchen, Keeping Jessica in my prayers. I know it is very hard after an accident like that. When I was younger, my brother John was in an accident and he was in very bad shape (surgeries, traction for a long time, etc). I was young so I do not remember too much but I do remember some of it. So hard to see. Hugs to you.

Lori, It is great that you are getting settled in. You guys must be having such a great time. Have fun garage saling. My Mom was a garage saler...she would be out of the house and be at those sales first. Her and my sister Jane bought and resold collectibles and antiques. Jane still does it...she does pretty good for herself...she rents space in an antique center, does shows and house sales. She loves it. Me, I love it too but Tom would divorce me if I brought anything else into the house right now.

Marilyn, I hope they get you dug out soon. Pittsburgh was also having trouble finding spots to put the snow. My MIL was telling me they used to dump it in the rivers but I guess they cant do that with all the chemicals in the salt, etc they throw down.

Oh my, I am babbling. So sorry.

I hope everyone has a good day. It is just me and the baby this weekend so dinner will be quick. I picked up some of the low fat Hebrew National hot dogs so that is what I will have.

Have a great day all.

Good morning!

WFD - The shrimp scampi recipe Becky posted a few weeks ago and a spinach salad. bbl........

Morning all--
Just pushed Ross out the door to go teach karate. His Sensei picked him up as my car is uninspected, it won't pass without two new front tires, which would have been done last week, but they ordered the wrong ones for it, and had to reorder them. I, of course, own a car that needs special order tires, not common ones, that most tire places would have in stock!
They should be in today, so when Kris gets out of work he will go get it taken care of! He has to work at the office today until noontime.

Gretchen--I wouldn't have been able to hold it together either. How are Jessica's spirits? What an awful thing for anyone never mind someone so young to go through!

Nancy--Don't feel bad I have been pretty ho hum on the cooking too.

Lori--I meant to tell you that I loved the pics of the new place!! The top of your fridge looks like the top of ours;)

Lauren--I am always looking for a good lowfat hot dog, I will have to look for those tonight when we go shopping.

Marilyn--I hope they find a place for the snow, around here they fill up dump trucks then take it to this old empty parking lot and dump it, there will be 4-5 huge mountains of snow. It will seriously be into July before the last of it melts....it is such an ugly mess to see when you drive by as it is full of dirt and such.

We have hardly any snow right now...in fact we are going outside this afternoon to do some yard clean up and rack leaves that never got taken care of before the snow came. It looks like May around here. I have a feeling Mother Nature is going to nail us next month.:headache:

Tonight is Date Night....we have to go grab a few groceries first then we will go out to eat...no idea what or where, but, I can guarantee there will be cocktails involoved!!:thumbsup2

Have a good one!!

Good morning my friends. I have my laptop back - can you tell. WooHoo I am connected again. PTL!!!!!!

Lauren ~ love your new house pictures. You continue to be in my prayers.

Kat ~ I LOVE the little Who Dat pictures. How cute!!

Vickie ~ I so hope you are feeling better today.

Nancy ~ I hear you on the meal slump. I hate it when that happens. Right now I am just so excited to cook again. I have all sorts of things to make.

Lori ~ never apoligize for frozen pizza. So darn happy for you and Rick and the new apartment. Wishes every night - you lucky ducky - only in my dreams.

Bethany ~ I loved your parade stories. Thanks for taking us with you.

Marilyn ~ Honey I promise by July all of this will be a memory. One you won't ever forget but a memory still.

Gretchen ~ prayers to you and Jessica. It is so hard to see someone we love hurt so bad. I just PTL that you are able to go see her, the alternative would have been unthinkable. She will recover, bless her heart.

Wendie ~ I am so proud of Ross on his testing. Way to go kiddo!! Have fun tonight on you date.

Becky ~ enjoy the kids today. You are such a good aunt to help the way you do and enjoy it along the way. I love your fish sandwich picture. Looks nothing like mine on a good day. LOVE IT!!!

Well it is snowing here AGAIN!! I am so sick of snow, ice and cloudy weather. Just makes for a gloomy day and attitude. I am trying to keep the chin up but darn it is getting hard. I really need me my sun soon.

I am feeling better each day and for that I am thankful. So very glad the pain is almost gone. I am ready to eat a real meal again.

Tonight is the last night of the Play and afterward is the cast party so we will be having lunch today together and will probably just snack tonight. I am baking a Chocolate Peanutbutter cake to take. If it is any good I will post the recipe.

Make it a great day my friends and it will be back to cooking tomorrow for me. I can't wait.

Today my dad and brother are here and we are going out tonight to celebrate my brother's birthday. He wants steak so I'm going to give him a few thoughts and let him decide.

He is the one who adopted Ace so Ace is here for the day with him. Such a cutie!

Nan, heavy house cleaning is due here as well. Wine makes everything a meal!

Lauren,

Aimee, this will be the last time I say it (I think) but you really are doing to much. Your body is fighting an infection & your going to a crowded public place?:headache:

Ellen so glad your on the mend.

Enjoy your date nights girls.
Dinner here will be chicken cutlet I have marinading......

I did call the oral surgeon, there computers are down so their not taking any appointments right now. I feel like crap.

Wendie – I hope you & Kris enjoy your night tonight!

Lauri D – Good luck with the taxes!!!!

Ellen – I am so glad you are feeling better! The little Who Dat girl had a bigger crowd watching her than the drummers!!:lmao:

Aimee – How are you feeling?

Maria - Keeping you in my prayers that you feel better.

Well, yard sales were a bust. We were looking for a couple of living room pieces to hold us over till we found something we liked....nothing. Not even one piece for me to decide I didn't like!:headache:

I spent all of $11 today. A couple DVDs and a ceramic Tiki head bank...and the best- 5 Riedel wine glasses for $1. I looked at the lady and said a dollar each? and she said no, a dollar for all 5!:worship: Bless you woman! These things retail for $30 each!

So, that was good, but I'm still bummed about the furniture. We're doing barstools (last yard saling expedition:thumbsup2), folding camp chair, bed or floor for a little while longer it seems.

We're heading over to DHS this afternoon, so dinner is still undecided.

Lauren- memory days are always hard for me also.

Wendie- the top of the fridge is just the start- there's still a console bar in NOLA to bring down here yet and it's full too. You need to come on over girl and we'll start to work on it!;)
