I have yet to be asked about the color of my jambalaya.

That's cause everyone knows we'd have to ask what color is your DH's jambalaya!

We use Zatarain's too. Last February when I was in Baton Rouge, my friend made her jambalaya so strong that she was eating jalapeno poppers to "cool her mouth off".



Have you all seen this? It's a "Letter to Miami" from the Who Dat Nation.
I have to tell you, if I had read this a year ago I would not have understood the vast majority of it. Now, I "get it"!

Nancy, I don't know about that recipe. Cumin, chili powder, aren't typical in jambalaya. The tomatoes would also cause a debate down here. People will ask you down here, if you make red jambalaya( with tomato) or brown jambalaya. My family has always been on the brown jambalaya side. But of course there wasn't any written family recipe, so you just had to watch to learn how to do it. It's not one of my favorite things so I rarely make it. I have used zatarain's & it's pretty darn good. I'll look around to see if I can find a recipe that I would use.

Would that recipe I linked a few pages back be more typical? It's like the easiest recipe EVER (though I've never tried Zatarains!).

Does anyone stream the disney podcast while they are on line. It is so fun Often they run the monorail speil, Whenever they do I turn it up real loud and have my kids listen I tell them It's like we 're there again. I just asked our aide what kind she cooks. She said she hasn't made it from scratch in so long she couldn't even remember how to do it. She uses zatarain's & adds a little bit of tomato paste plus onions, bell peppers & garlic with smoked sausage & boneless chicken. Sort of a combo of the two recipes on the Zatarain's site. My SIL Chris makes a good one using boxed mix & smoked chicken or turkey and andouille.

That does it! I am buying Zatarains! I think that the jambalaya Marisa had was brown jambalaya so I am going with that. Thanks for all fo the help!

I haven't had a chance to read back yet.

But I wanted to pop in real quick to let Aimee know I am sending lots of prayers to her and her Doctors.
Today will be just fine and this will be the first day of the healing you need.
Comfort prayers my dear sweet friend.

I ended up having the best night last night. What was to be a long night alone ended up being a blast. When I got home from work, Cooper and I set out on our 3 mile trek. It was a beautiful day and the sun was shining. When we got back home Elizabeth called and wanted to know if I would like to go to the movie with her and Ethan. I jumped at the chance and we bad a ball. We went to see "Tooth Fairy". I laughed the whole time. It is a real good movie, there were no cuss words or sex. What a relief that was. If you have a chance to see it - go!!

WFDT ~ it's date night and I think I am going to have the salad bar. Sounds good this morning we shall see what actually looks good when I get there.

Dinner last night ended up being pork chops and applesauce for the kids, and pork chops in a Dijon mustard sauce for Alan and me. We had some cottage cheese, and salad on the side. It was yummy. Then I went to my Zumba class and worked my you know what off! Our teacher really worked on our triceps, calves, and abs last night. Boy am I feeling it this morning! It felt really good, though! I think I may have found an exercise form that I can stick with!!!

Dinner tonight will be a beef stew in the crock pot. I've got parent/teacher conferences at 5:00 so I need something that will cook while I'm gone.

I posted a VERY long update and catch up on FB.

I will let you all know as soon as Jason texts me. I am so anxious for Aimee. She has suffered so long, to long.

Kat--When you talk with Lauren, please give her my love and let her know we are all here for her! My heart is just broken for her and I am very worried about her.

I am so sorry you are not feeling well!! I think you are stretched much to thin lately and you take all of our stress right to your own heart. Please get into some comfy clothes and curl up and rest!!

Glynis--I am so sorry to read of how terribly sick Timothy was plus the rest of the ill ones!! How scary!! RSV is sooo frightening. I am glad to see that all are doing much better! Glad the play was a success!

Nancy--I am glad that Buddy's ct surgery went well!!

Maria--I am sorry about your dental troubles, but am glad you have it taken care of now!

I am really behind and had over 25 pages to get caught up on...soooo I am just going to have to start fresh today. I am sorry.

I am still in vacation laundry hell, lol. It is a pain to be washing shorts and tshirts while it is 4 degrees out.
I have to get back to the gym next week, haven't felt that great this week, and have had a lot to get caught up on around here.

Supper is leftovers from the meatloaf on Monday and the chicken tortellini alfredo last night. I will make some rolls and a veggie to fill it in with.
