The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Just spoke with Lauren again, she's doing as well as can be expected. She did get a call today that her brother has gotten worse so they anticipate a few days at the most. She honestly feels that her Mom went before her brother so she could be there to welcome him and now he knows he can let go. She also said that she has been asking her Mom for a sign that she's OK and the baby started blowing kisses today, how awesome is that.:goodvibes

Lauren wanted me to thank everyone for their love and support during this difficult time.

Back to the couch for me.......

Kathy, thank you for sharing that with us. That story is sad and amazing at the same time. to Lauren.

Kathy, I hope you feel better soon.

When my dad pasted Alex was napping so he didn't know yet. When he woke from his nap he told me he was fishing with his grandpa's and someone named Pa. Pa was my greatgrandfather who died when I was young. We asked Alex how he knew it was Pa his looked at me strange and said Pa to tell me to give him some nilla cookies. Pa always had those cookies in his house.

I am glad that Lauren is doing as well as possible.

Dinner before I forget again is chicken and rice.

I too believe.

My Na -Na always said when babies stare off at nothing its because they see angels.

Kathy, Thanks for sharing. I'm glad she's feeling that! As Nan said "kisses from heaven"! Kat, You feel better too!

Janice, That's an amazing story. I have one something like that also. When DD was 2, my Mom carrying her around her house, talking about the pictures of family on the walls. They were looking at a family pic from our wedding, with several of grandparents that had passed before Angelina was born. DD pointed at my Paw-Paw & said I like him. My Mom told her you didn't know him. She said " Yes I talked to him, right there on your sofa. He is really funny!" She continued to insist she knew him & was talking, laughing with him. We were really in shock, My Paw-Paw was a hoot! Always joking around, telling jokes & always laughing plus making everyone around him laugh! :rotfl2:

My Aunt passed away when DS was two months old. I had just gone to bed after a late night feeding. I was lying there crying thinking how I can't believe I will never be able to talk to her again. Ron was fast a sleep next to me. As soon as I thought about not talking to her the phone rang. I picked up...no one there, silence then it went the static and I hung up. I closed my eyes and cried I knew it was her. I didnt tell DH any of this. In the morning he turned and said to me you know that was Auntie J who called.

Her and I were very very close...last year my Dad lost his wedding ring. He was heartbroken because it meant so much to him. In the car one day on the way to their house I asked Auntie J to help him find it. Two months later with no success... I went downstairs to get their laundry. As I was coming back up the stairs I looked down ...and there was the ring on the very bottom stair. (Same place my cousin found a picture of her parents she asked for help locating). We had all walked over that very spot a thousand times over the couple of months it was missing and I was the one to find it! I truly believe in signs from those we love and watch over us.

Hope no one minds me sharing my stories...prayers to all!

see ya in the am

I'm loving all these stories. I don't have any that are that cool.

So the person who USED to live in this apartment just stopped by. :confused3 I've lived her just over 7 months now. She came to ask if I got her W-2. Um yeah, I did and I put it in outgoing mail with "please forward" (and I'm thinking ... like all your OTHER mail....) and she goes. Oh, I guess I should fill out a forward address form with the post office. Ummmmm, ya think?!?

Turns out she lives a few buildings over now....still in the same complex. But that doesn't mean it's the SAME ADDRESS!

Kat I justed noticed you go in 8 days :cool1:

Yep, I'm glad this sickness is this week and not next! I heard that there is a Super Bowl MVP parade the weekend we'll be there. If that's true and the Saints win wouldn't that be amazing?:cool1:

There is an indian legend that spirts speak to the young because they are innocent and believe.

My MIL told me that. She is very wise so I believe her except when she said when Alex was breach because I had my arms up over my head to much ;)

Lauri Sorry to hear about another surgery for you. Hopefully it will be the end of your troubles.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this. Hugs to you.

Lauren, Aimee & Vickie continued prayers.

Kat, "T" & his kisses makes things brighter. Praying it gave Lauren some peace.
How did I miss you were sick? Please feel better my friend.

Dentist again tomorrow for me....

Dinner was pasta with grilled chicken & a light tomato, basil sauce.

I'm really enjoying the stories you all are sharing. I believe in signs too. Not the same league but when I had to put my beloved dog to sleep I was so devastated and spent the morning cleaning our her things and getting rid of them. As I was taking the last load of things to the dumpster a little baby bunny ran about 2 feet away from me into the woods. Well I had always called her my little bunny and I had never seen one there in the 3 years I had lived in that complex before. I knew it was a sign that my sweetie had gotten to where she needed to be.

Laura- I grew up outside of Boston and my parents still live there and can't really comprehend how going to one place can pretty much be my whole day. And don't even get me started on trying to schedule visits to avoid falling asleep in the car... I seem to get no sympathy or understand on that one. For better or worse the nap days seem to be behind me so at least that's one less issue.

Wendie - Thanks for the Aimee update! So glad she did well.

Lauri - I'm sorry you have another surgery scheduled. You've had more than your share.

Kat - Thank you for the update on Lauren and for sharing her T story. I can't imagine how tough this week has been for her. And WOW, the parade while you were in WDW would be amazing!

Ann - Kenny would much rather have the spanish rice instead of the couscous. That is something I make when I'm mad at him.

Sheryl - I'm sorry dinner wasn't up to par. I don't make short ribs for that reason. I have never had much luck with them, even though I've enjoyed the ones I've gotten out. :confused3

Maria - How many more dental visits do you have?!? Is the pain going away?

Take care everyone, I'm off to do a laundry switch.

I enjoyed all the stories as well. Y'all know I have rarely told anyone about that! Here I go, posting it for all the world to see.

Gretchen, I spoke too soon! Bob really enjoyed it, although I don't think quite as much as Johnny did!:lmao: It was a bit of work de-greasing but it was totally delicious! I was tasting as I added the goat cheese, I stopped at about 2 1/2 ounces. I think the four ounces the recipe called for would have been overkill. With the sauce & ribs it was fabulous. Bob usually takes leftovers for himself & enough to share with whatever friend he thinks will really like whatever dish it is. After dinner he said that his friend & boss Brian would love this. I told him I make them a big lunch plate. He said "Heck NO! Keep that for us!" ;)

Glad y'all enjoyed it! I didn't have too much trouble de-greasing. I picked out the leanest ones I could find at Whole Foods, but next time I'm going to do it a day ahead anyway.:thumbsup2
