The What's For Dinner Thread - November '09(recipe index in OP)

Sheryl- I just went to look at the sesame noodle recipe but stopped to read her "confession" from today. I still can't figure out if it reminds me more of my dog or my child.

Try the rosemary rolls, I need someone to share my addiction with.

Hi, everyone!

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts. They are certainly appreciated! Timothy is doing very well!!! His ears are clearing up, the drops are helping his eyes, and the RSV is not as bad as it was. I do have to take him back to the RSV clinic so they can suck out his nose. We just got back a little while ago, and the nurse there was amazed at the volume of mucus they got out of his nose! I guess he set some sort of record!

I do feel kind of like that old song, though, "Another One Bites the Dust." I ended up having to take Mary to the doctor this morning, and she is the proud owner of a double ear infection also! In fact, it looks like we are too late with the antibiotics, because her eardrums are at the breaking point. We got some antibiotics to take care of the infection, and drops to heal the eardrums once they totally burst.

Hopefully, that will be it for a while. I'm a little tired of the doctor's office at this point!

Luckily, I don't have to deal with dinner tonight, as 2 of my neighbors got together and brought it over. Homemade tomato soup, rolls, salad and cookies. My kids will think they are in heaven! I'm so grateful for this, because Timothy just wants to be cuddled when he's not sleeping, so for the time being, that is the most important thing for me to do!

I have pack meeting tonight, and I'd get out of it, if I could, but I'm the only Webelos leader right now, so I have to be there for my boys. I'm hoping it will be a short one, though! My bed sounds so good!!! I crawled into bed last night at 5:30, and didn't wake up until 7:00 this morning. Alan was so sweet to let me sleep so much. He knew that I didn't sleep at all in the hospital. I was too worried about making sure the baby was breathing!

I'm still praying for Wendie's Gram, Lauren's brother, Stephanie's kids and Maria! If there's anyone else who needs prayers, you've got 'em!!! I'm so grateful for you all!!!

The first thing I looked at was those rosemary rolls!! I will buy frozen rolls the next time I go to the grocery! But I want them NOW!

Where is the confession of the day? I see confessions but I'm not seeing each days.

Ha, I couldn't wait to go to the store so I made french bread dough in the breadmaker instead and divided it. One batch dough= two batches rolls. Tonight I'm trying the batch I froze to see how the turn out.

The confession was the first thing I saw, a basset staring at a string.

Glynis- I'm so happy to hear how well Timothy is doing. It's amazing how long you can watch to see if someone is still breathing isn't it? I'm sure you must love your neighborhood, what a wonderful support system you have with them (and they have with you.) Hope Mary isn't to uncomfortable.

Glynis, I'm happy you & Timothy are home! But sad for Mary & Mom! Gosh you've had enough already! Prayers that everyone gets well & stays well! I do think you are a SuperWoman, still planning on the pack meeting tonight!:grouphug:

I saw that, I was just thinking it would be something short for a daily confession. That was my Smokey for sure! We could actually cover his head with a towel & he'd just lay there. That's supposed to be a test to see how smart your dog is.:rolleyes1 He totally failed but he was the best, most obedient, member of the family we ever had!

Oh Ladies, you are killing me with the Pioneer Woman stories. The only thing I have ever tried was the Marlboro Man sandwich. OMGoodness it is to die for - Literally - I will only let Doug have these once a year. :lmao:

Sheryl ~ sweetie, I would go for comfort food tonight. So sorry to hear you have another migraine. Poor thing!!

Maria ~ Thanks for the link - NO really thanks the link - it took me to the cutest shirt - I bought it and then also some Lock n Locks. WooHoo!! THANKS!!!

Laura ~ I get that way somedays. Mine usually is because it's cloudy. I hope your feel like you self real soon.

Michelle ~ I am sure your neighboors will love whatever you bring them to eat, even if he is a Chef. Food always tastes better if someone else cooks it. You are so sweet to be thinking of them.

Robin ~ I am going to have to try those rolls. They must be wonderful.

Aimee ~ any word yet?

Marilyn ~ I am so jealous of your Trader Joes. I went to one when we were in NM for Thanksgiving. Brought a lot home, but now have no way to get more. The closest one is 250 miles away.

Glynis ~ prayers continue for you sweetie. ENOUGH is enough. Poor Mary and Timmy. I hope they start feeling better real soon. And no other kidlets get sick.

I just got off the phone with the bank - I was $4.00 short on my deposit - no way to prove them wrong - oh that makes me so mad. GURRR!!!

Glynis -- I'm so glad to hear Timothy is doing so well. What a relief! I am very sorry to hear about Mary's ears though. Hopefully, the eardrums won't burst on her. That is so painful.

Laura, Feel better!

Thanks Sheryl and Ellen...I'm fine. I'm just tired and kind of blah today, probably because I fell asleep on the couch last night. It's also a dreary day.

Sheryl, I hope your headache is better.

Michelle -- I am sure your neighbors will appreciate anything you do.

Robin -- That was sweet of your aunt to send you goodies for your trip. Have you taken the train before?

Everyone talking about the PW site is making me want to visit. I just reread a couple excerpts from her book because I was trying to figure out dinner. Her story about serving Marlboro Man linguine and clams on one of their dates just cracks me up.

Oh, and I'm making chicken parmesian (my computer keeps saying I am spelling that wrong, but I can't figure out how to make it right!) for dinner.

Laura is just parmesan. I hate it when I misspell and for the life of me I can not figure out what it wrong.

Two weekend ago I took PW's cookbook with to Alex's karate class. I got the strangest looks but I don't care. I read it and laughed out loud. I will probably end up buying that book cause I collect cookbooks I have so many.:rolleyes1

Tonight is Grand's taco melt casserole style. I need something easy.

Ellen, Thank goodness it was just $4.00 & not $400.!!!

Laura, Unless parmesian is a dish I haven't heard of, you really are off your game today! Now I really worried about you! Please tell me it's a special dish!

Janice, I'm with you on reading cookbooks! I'm reading 2 books right now and they are both cookbooks, still on John Besh "My New Orleans" and also reading "French Women for All Seasons" both are stories & recipes.

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts. They are certainly appreciated! Timothy is doing very well!!!

Oh, I am so glad he's better! Sorry that Mary is now sick, though  I'm grateful you have good friends to bring your crew some yummy food tonight.

Welp, saw the surgeon who was appalled that his staff didn't get me in for 3 weeks. He took a look at my med list and was  that I had to wait. Anyways, it's scheduled for next Wednesday. Sooner than I expected but I'm not going to argue. I have 5 days to get a month's worth of activity scheduled now. February is a busy month! 1 week in the hospital, around 4 weeks out of work total. We'll see if that happens ;)

Has Vickie & Ann checked in????

Present and accounted for, thank you!

I was rushing around this morning to get some floors mopped before I headed over to my parents fpr lunch and the afternoon.

WFD- honey mustard baked chicken (thighs for DH & breast for me), goya yellow rice, petite peas (for DH), and pickled beets (for me).

BBL, hugs to all!

Sheryl Now I have more books to look for. I forgot about John Besh's cookbook. Good thing I am going to the library tonight.

Nancy- Hope Buddy is feeling better and patience for you my friend.

Bethany - hope you get things worked out with ins. and that your feeling better.

Ellen- You are such a great mom:worship: If your looking to adopt let me know.

Sorry I haven't posted much just having some more health issues going on. Got parents down in FL so taking care of things up here for them. Working more than usual ect. ect.:flower3:

Aimee Glad you got your date. It never comes at the "right" moment but you can't keep going on like this.

Lauri Sorry you are having health issues also

Thanks Janice!

Sheryl -- Janice had the spelling right...it's chicken parmesan. I've also seen it as chicken parmigiana. The shocking news is that the kids actually ate it. Granted, I had to shame them into trying it by saying that even their Uncle Bob (you know, my brother who doesn't eat vegetables or many other decent foods) eats it. Liam, who claims to hate chicken, ate every bite.

Aimee -- I am so glad your surgery is scheduled and is so soon! Don't stress yourself out trying to get everything done before then.

Lauri -- Nice to hear from you. I'm sorry you're not feeling well. This has not been a very healthy winter on the WFD.

I hope everyone has a good evening. I have my zumba class in the morning, so I should be a little more energized tomorrow.

Aimee! I'm beyond thrilled that you are not waiting on surgery! I have been so incredibly worried about you!!! I know you have a lot on your plate, but you need to step back and let others take over for a while. I will be so happy when it is done, and you can live without pain! I've put this on my calendar for our church's prayer chain.

Thanks, everyone, for your good wishes for Mary. The doctor asked her when her ears started hurting and she said "2 yesterdays ago." He looked at her ears, then turned to me and said, "Your kids must have a high tolerance for pain." Then he described her drums as bulging and starting to ooze. She really hasn't complained to Alan or me, until last night. Even then, we gave her Motrin, and she didn't say another word until this morning, when she sad her ears "tickled."

Timothy has been sleeping for quite a while. I hate to wake him up, but he needs another dose of the thrush medication, not to mention his eyedrops. Alan just called and told me his boss wants him to come home, but stay on the clock until 7:30. If something happens, they'll call him. So, I'm going to wait until Alan is home to do the medicating. I need the extra arms to keep that strong little boy from doing some damage.

Lauren – Continued prayers for your brother, his family and you.

Glynis – You just can’t catch a break my friend. Hopefully things with the kiddos will settle down. Glad to hear Timothy is doing well. Hopefully Mary will get well soon and without a lot of pain, poor baby.

Aimee – Glad to hear you have a surgery date, keeping you in my prayers.

Lauri – Glad to hear from you, sorry your having more health issues.

Have we heard from Lauri U lately?

What a nice boss he has!

Marilyn, That meatloaf might end up being pretty tasty with the extra seasonings in the stove top.

It was interesting. Some parts were over mixed and one bite was very undermixed, I got a mouthfull of sage seasoning.

It better happen! You don't want to undo what the Dr. did by pushing things.
