The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Good afternoon everyone.

Kat ~ your SIL is in my prayers.

Bethany ~ I am so glad Anabelle is better this morning. I was really worried about her.

Ann ~ Did you get your cookies baked? I baked 6 dozen last night for an Open house for a new Teen Center opening in town. I baked Choc. Chip, how 'bout you?
Hope your weekend is call free. Doug is on call every 3rd week. It is a pain but the money is great.
Care to share your Scampi saute with me?

Janice ~ Oh a visit to the Library always make me feel better. Happy grilling!!

Maria ~ your poor Lily getting stung. Poor baby. Happy packing

Thanks everyone for the nice remarks about my Trip Report. They take a lot of time but they are so much fun to write. And I love reading back on previous trips. I hope to have day 4 up later today.

WFDT ~ I am on strike!! We are eating out.

Y'all have a great weekend and I will try to BBL

I just finished reading the thread for Noah :sad1: I know I should not cry, he is Soaring now, but what a sad story and what a wonderful family he was entrusted to during his short time here. Adding sweet :littleangel: to my prayers.

Hey guys, no update on SIL yet today, haven't seen the Dr. Thanks so much for all of your thoughts and prayers, it's been a tough day for Johnny. Melissa is refusing to see anyone today.

I just wanted to give a heads-up, I'll probably start our new thread sometime over the weekend, I'll be sure and put a link here to it.

Marilyn - Thanks for posting Noah's story. I read it all and bawled and bawled! The pictures of him are so adorable. What a little angel!

I did too! :sad1: As bad as this may sound I hope she finishes the trip report, just so we can see more of the pictures.

Our weather is being a little freaky. It goes from torrential downpours to bright sunshine.

Ellen, i am the worst when it comes to recipes....nothing is the same twice, I always wing things. Generally, I would just saute shrimp with lots of garlic, parsley, butter, white wine, and a squeeze of lemon and serve over rice or pasta. I never got to make cookies. I realized I was out of brown sugar and choc. chips. I was craving tollhouse cookies. I did get a good amount of much needed cleaning done. :cool1:

Maria, how fun picking out clothes for your soon to be little one. So exciting.
Emma's bottom is about the same. I have still seen small amounts of blood once and a while. She is a regular kinda girl, so not much healing time. Dr. said baby movements are very acidic and irritating.

Kat, thanks for the reminder about a new thread soon....don't worry I would stalk you till I found you my friend!!!!!:lmao: Thinking of you and Johnny, much love!:grouphug:

Marilyn, this weather is so wacky...we have down pours and sunshine too!:headache:

-----

I got alot done today...is it possible to nest after delivering???? I even cleaned out old meds from my medicine cabinet, washed floors, dusted...Emma slept like a champ and Luke was my little helper.

Change in dinner plans once again. We have to pick up DH's truck from the mechanic. It had to be inspected.

Dinner will be either fish & chips, leftover sloppy joes, or Wendy's new Asian chicken. Luke has requested McD's nuggets and fries.

She is back to normal this morning! :goodvibes Thanks everybody for your concern. :grouphug:

This was her 2nd round; she got the first round up in Baton Rouge before I picked her up. She must not have had a reaction to the first round because they didn't mention it.

It was the Distemper-Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Canine Parvovirus, and Coronavirus. :confused3:confused3 Means very little to me, but that's what the paper says.

She's 6 pounds, 1 ounce now!

When she gets that 3rd round, be sure the vet understands the severe reaction she has. It might be best to schedule her appt for early in the morning and have her stay the day in their care in case she reacts again.

I'm pretty picky on my dog's vaccinations, due to reactions and risks, but some are just necessary. If you want to do more research on the vaccinations, what is necessary and what isn't, and when things should be given check out www.critteradvocacy.org

 I didn't realize he was gone this week. That must have been hard on you with all the tests you had. He owes you some pampering!

Since the camp was only an hour away, he drove in the night before once the kids went to sleep so he could be there for the test. I needed him to hear from the doctor what was going on. My dad drove over and met us at lunch so he could stay with me the rest of the day and overnight and Dh went back to camp. So I wasn't completely deserted but I was alone for the prep and the aftermath

Looks like we're eating out tonight. :woohoo:

I decided I'm not cooking tonight. We are going out :thumbsup2Someone else can cook and clean the dishes.

/
No cooking here either! Domino's pizza & red wine.

DD & I had a nice lunch and a little shopping. Just Bath & Body Works and World Market and the drugstore, exciting stuff right. Believe me I enjoyed being out of the house.

Ann, Your cooking sounds a lot like mine, a little of this & that until it taste right. How in the world did you get all of that done with Luke helping??!! Usually when Alexis helps it takes twice as long to get anything done.

Laura, I really hope you got your fried clams! and that Liam was able to play ball.

I hope the crazy weather improved for all of you!

Glynis, Yikes pre-teen girls and thier moods. I sure hope Katie is easier than my girl was.

There were tornado's just to the West of us today. :scared:

Getting up early to go to yardsales. My friend was wrong about the time for a meeting she has to go to so we are leaving at 7:45 instead of 9:00.

We are getting those freaky summer storms here, too. Sirens went off already this week and again tonight.

I'll be curious about your yard sale finds. Our neighbors keep trying to get us to give it a shot, and have shown DH everything they have bought at yard sales, but you know I don't do mornings... :rolleyes1 I really do want to do it some weekend just to see.

We went to Chili's for dinner - they have a pretty good deal with the 2 for $20. Appetizer to share (I always get chips and queso there!), two full entrees (including our favorite chicken club tacos), dessert to share. Not bad deal, since the entrees are over $9 each anyways.

Course, I am still struggling to eat... but I found that with 3 ibuprofen, I could drink without pain and eat the chips and queso. The quesedilla I ordered was a no-go, and dessert was too. I should lose more weight at my next WW weigh in at this rate

Good morning!

Aimee Funny we were at Chili's tonight but we didn't see you:rolleyes1
I had the cedar planked tilapia really good. Alex and I were is the mood for spicy and we got it. He had the buffalo chicken bites.:thumbsup2

Tonight we are having pork tenderloin. I want to try one of the recipes in that book I got from the library. We are supposed to get scattered thunderstorms here so we will see. Any time I plan on something it goes the opposite. I could use the free water.;)

I am going to look at flooring today I hope I am not going to have expensive taste.

Good Morning!

I am taking A to camp tomorrow so I asked what he wanted for dinner before he left and he said meatloaf. So dinner tonight will be Lauren's Blue Plate Special...meatloaf, mashed taters and corn and peas.

Tom is feeling better...no waking me up in the night gasping for air...:scared1:

Tom was making fun of me packing for A. I guess I went overboard with labeling and packing things in ziplocks. Andrew is not the most organized so I tried to make it easier for him. I had to stop when I wanted to label his cup...Tom jokingly said that I should label it "BIG"! :scared1:;):rotfl:

I too cried and cried while reading Noah's story. What a sweet little boy...smiling in almost every picture. :littleangel: I pray for him and his family. I really need to be more appreciative of the things and blessings I have.

Kathy, Prayers for Melissa and your family. I wish I was there to help you with things...Give Johnny a hug for me. I know it's tough.

Ann, So sorry that Emma is still having some bleeding issues...give her a great big hug for me...Luke too! ;) Thomas had the opposite problem...he only went once a day...sometimes skipping. As long as they're happy, right?

Aimee, I am sorry you are not feeling well still. I hope today finds you a little less sore...

Sheryl, So glad you are out and about!

Maria, buying baby clothes...so exciting! I am so happy for your guys. I hope Lily is doing. Have a great trip! My friends are doing the same cruise next week so please let me know any tips...can't wait for the pics!

Marilyn, Happy yard saleing. I always mean to get out there early and never do. TOday is the perfect weather for it too. My Mom and sister made a decent part time living garage saleing and reselling. They bought collectibles and antique things...My sister Jane still does it and rents space in a really neat antique center.

Laura, So glad Liam had a great time at camp!

Have a wonderful weekend all! Not sure I will be on much in the next couple days. I take A tomorrow...3 hour drive each eay and then Monday I have my Mom coming and the David Cook Concert! :yay:

That tilapia sounds really good! If the pork turns out good, please share. I am always looking for more recipes for pork.

Have fun shopping!

Lots to do today between getting MIL to the hospital, grocery shopping and shopping for Kyle's apartment but if I have time we're going to grill shrimp and have charred corn relish.

Ann -- I hope Emma heals soon. That must be so irritating for her.

Aimee -- I hope you are feeling less sore today.

Sheryl -- It must have been so nice to get out yesterday. Are you feeling okay today?

Lauren -- Have fun at the concert! I hope Andrew has a great time at camp.

Janice -- Good luck with the shopping. If it were me, I would be drawn to whatever the most expensive item in the store was. Caili is the same way. I am shopping for a new skating dress for her to go with her new program. We were looking at dresses last night, and most of them were around $100...the one she liked the best? $350! Needless to say, we are still looking.

Marilyn -- I hope you found some good stuff at the yard sales. I would have to know I was going to get something really good if I was hitting the streets at 7:45 AM.

Kathy -- Good luck finding an apartment for Kyle! He must be so excited. for you though.

I did get my fried clams last night, and they were really good. It is a beautiful day here, so I am grilling tonight. I am thinking salmon if the market has it.

Maria, I just realized after reading Lauren's post you leave tomorrow for Bermuda...have a wonderful time, pirate:Bon Voyage pirate: my friend!!!

I didn't get much today. We went to one where it seems the people must have had a printing business, they had a lot of pre-printed things and some blank things too. I got some of those Chinese gift boxes. There were 5 in a package and are the really big ones. Got two packs for $5.

My friend got a pack of 12 shopping bags that can be docorated for $8, she is going to use them for a craft project at camp next week. She also got some other stuff to use for camp, a whole plastic shoe box of craft gems, beads and rocks for $1.

Some times we go out and get very little and others we hit the mother load. Last time we went I got a really nice card table and a padded cushion that covers a plastic patio chair for $1 each.

MARIA, safe sailing!! Use some magic to make the weather awesome for when I get there on Thursday! :)

Here are some photos from yesterday. I went to the farmer's market. Didn't buy too much:

I used the cheese and tomatoes in the front of the picture, along with some of the greens, to make a very delicious caprese salad:

This morning I used farmers market berries to make a baked pancake.

WFD tonight--hopefully fish. I am heading to the market now.
