The What's For Dinner Thread - May '09(recipe index in OP)

Happy Father's Day everyone!! Hope it's a great one. We are going to my in-laws and spending the day with them.

Good Morning!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads!

It is still raining here in NJ. I think this dreary weather is starting to affect all of our moods. I have really been feeling blah lately.

Not sure what is going on around here today...I think we are going to breakfast and then to Lowe's or Home Depot for some things to finish the bathroom, etc. Don't really have any plans to cook so we will see. We went out to lunch yesterday with Andrew for Father's Day since he is with his bio dad today.

Ann, Hang in there! I am so excited for you and wish you all the best! Can't wait to hear that Emma has been born. You must be going a bit crazy. I remember how I felt with Thomas and he was a scheduled C section. Give Luke a great big hug for me too! I can't wait to hear how he reacts to his baby sister!!!

Glynis, Looks like your trip was fantastic! Love all the pics especially the one the girls and your Dad...I have not had a chance to read the last installment but will soon. I hope everyone is feeling better today.

I know I have missed alot but I have Tommy boy here and do not have time to catch up...Have a great day all!

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO EVRYONE. Sorrry wasn't on yesterday boy did we have a mess here. Fri. night we had a bad storm come through. We had a total of 6-7 inches within 12hours. For a little bit we 3 inches in 45 min. Highways are closed roads gone and then we loose power so the sump pump can't pump the water out of basement. Our basement is finished what a mess. Neighbor down the road has 8 FEET of water in basement.
WFD going to parents house for lunch. Have a good day everyone

Ann--I see Emma is still comfy hang in there girl ;)

Lauri

Thanks Lauri...hope things start to dry up there soon!!!!

Lauri It sounds like you got the rain that we had. I am so sorry

The only good thing about all that rain is that it made weeding really easy. I just hope my veggies can handle soo much water. I never planned on hydroponics.

Lauren Sorry you all are experiencing that rain also. It is a killer.

Ann Maybe a supervised walk might make Emma less likely to stay where she is? I remember just walking down the hall would start some contractions with Alex. When I was on disablilty I walked a block and a half for an ice cream cone and I thought I would have to call a ambulance :rotfl: I was desperate for that ice cream and no one was home :confused3.

No special plans just planning on staying busy today. Happy Fathers day to all the dads.

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful husbands and daddys out there! We are heading to my parents after church to have lunch with them for Father's Day. I'm mad that my gift for my dad didn't make it in time. Oh well, I printed a picture of what ordered and that will have to do for the time being. Not sure WFD. I asked DH what he wanted tonight and I got a non-answer. So, we'll see. Last night we ended up at a place I haven't been to in probably 12 years. It's a great hole in the wall pizza place with a great patio. And surprisingly, sitting out on the patio we didn't melt--thanks to the numerous fans and shade!

Ann--thanks for the morning check-in. Do you go back to the dr. soon? My Emma was very stubborn (still is). She was a week late and I was having a stress test done and my OB says, "Look at this printout, you are having contractions. But they aren't regular yet. You'll probably have this baby tomorrow" Yeah, I think he jinxed me. I showed up 2 days later (yes, I was going every 2 days, fun, fun.) with my suitcase and was not leaving w/o my child out of my body. I was not a pleasant pregnant lady. I hope you're feeling okay, and that Emma plans on joining us soon! Can't wait to see her.

Okay, gonna clean up the kitchen and start getting the troops ready for church. Have a great Father's Day Sunday all!

Lauri It sounds like you got the rain that we had. I am so sorry

Yep I'm in Holland MI so we got the top part of what went through Chicago. But what happened was there was a storm that came across the lake horizontally about 15 miles both north and south of us only got about 1/3 inch of rain but for us we got 7 inces in our rain gauge between 9pm and 7am. Fun fun

Lauri, I am so sorry that you are having to deal with all that rain and water in the basement. I grew up in a house that has a natural spring under neath so we were constantly getting floods until we had a french drain and sump put it. I know its a PITA.

Janice, I was just saying I do not remember the last time I watered my flowers.

Ann, Yes, I agree with Janice...maybe a walk may bring on labor. Don't know if you remember my story. 2 days before Andrew, I walked across the George Washington bridge and bowled my best game ever!

:rotfl:This is funny but I can totally understand. I was this way with both and they were not late! Sorry your Dad's gift did not arrive...I am curious what it is now...

Hi Girls,

I go to the Dr. tomorrow morning at 9am. Hoping to see a change.
Stephanie, it must be the name. Thanks for sharing the story you have me laughing. Lauren, the GW you are crazy and bowling!!!:lmao:

A walk maybe in order...my parents and DH just want me to stay put.

That's what we have so when all the pipes under the house fill up the sump pump pumps it out but with out electricity the sump pump doesn't work. Hubby says we need to get a generator. Think thats a good idea.

Oh, Lauri! What a mess! We have been having rain like that for the last couple of days, too! Luckily, we haven't lost power! Good luck with the flooding! What's the forecast for the next few days?

Ann - I'm glad you are staying close to home, but a walk might do the trick! I went into labor with Katie while walking through Home Depot! Of course, then Alan didn't want to leave (Home Depot is to Alan what Disneyland is to me!).

My SIL swears by a double pepperoni pizza to bring labor on. She had 9 kids and used the pizza method with all but her first, so maybe there's something to that!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE AWESOME WFD DADDY'S!!!!!

I hope the day is great for them all!

We are not planning much for Alan (obviously), but I did have the kids make cards yesterday, so he'll get those, and the present I ordered 2 months ago. The rest will have to wait until next week.

We will be grilling steaks for Alan and me, and chicken for the kids. Dessert will be coconut pistachio pie and some fresh strawberries. I'm still hoping to be able to make the cream biscuits, but I only have half and half. Do you think that will still work?

:rotfl: I planning on Naan Pepperoni pizzas if I cook anything.

I just rec'd a text from Maria...they are having an amazing time, the seas are pretty rough and they have had enough Champagne for all!!!

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's out there!

So I got a court subpoena in the mail today....to report for Grand Jury duty on July 7.

I think NOT! :rolleyes1

I claim non-residency status.

:woohoo:

:thumbsup2

Only thing I plan on cooking today is this little girl in me!!!!:lmao:

Same here, it worked for me!

My poor DH is spending Father's Day prepping DS's room for painting. He is washing walls, and trying to remove scotch tape from walls. Why do teenagers think hanging posters with tape is a good idea.

Happy father's day everybody! Hope all is well!

Wfd- chicken parm. Salad,garlic bread.

I'd rather have kathy's dinner !!
