The What's For Dinner Thread - March '11 (recipe index in OP)

Vic Hopefully they did a MRI that would have showed blood vessels. Vertigo can be a early sign. As a crocked smile or can't smile.

Good thing I had a back plan for A's dinner. He wouldn't come close to the zucchini:lmao: He acted like it was going to bite him. I am trying to make hia good husband material but :confused3 All I can say is somehow they grow up and live to adulthood.

Princess You and this thread will make a great match you like to take pictures of food we love to look at pictures of food;) I am happy you eat "gourmet" too.

tonights dinner is currently up in the air.

Minnie I am happy to say is back to her normal crabby self.:woohoo:

Hey y'all!

I'm jumping back in, hopefully this week will be much slower for me.:goodvibes

PrincessInOz - Welcome to our group! My dream is to one day visit Australia.:cloud9:

Janice - I'm so glad Minnie is better today.

WFD - Roast beef po-boys & sweet potato fries.

Good morning to everyone. I woke up to a white yard this morning.

:scared1:

Hi, all! I'm home again, and had a wonderful spring break!

It was even springtime weather, so it felt awesome! Katie's history fair is tomorrow, and she is a nervous wreck. I told her she survived it once, so tomorrow should be a lot easier for her. We'll see. We have to leave the house by 7:00 tomorrow morning, so I won't be on until after it's all over. Please send good thoughts Katie's way. She would love to win a trip to Washington D.C.!

Welcome back!!!!!!!!!! Sendingpixiedust: Katies way today!

Poor Minnie had another seizure but she recovered very quickly this time. I am trying to keep her quiet but the brat is in her face. I think Hershey knows she is sick. Th :confused3ey are both laying on their beds looking at one another.

Poor little Sweat Pea
A sad note, the contractor told me today that the carpenter who worked on my kitchen for three days of the project passed away last week. He was only in his early 50's, such a nice guy. He thought he had a bad flu but his wife got scared and took him to the ER where they diagnosed vertigo and began treating him for that. By the time they realized it was really a stroke he was in way bad shape, ended up on life support for 2 days before passing. So, so sad.

How very sad :sad1:

Sorry for the rant. It is getting close to my dad's birthday (20th) and I am feeling still a little raw from my cousin passing.
:grouphug:

DInner will be the roasted chicken I have not cooked. I fell last week adn landed dead on my rib cage and that new bed we got has made pain go through the roof. Buddy went out to get bread for sandwiches and came home with Welby's chicken something. That was dinner.............he turned it into sandwiches.

Buddy is gooing to a wake this evening, his friend has been sick with cancer for a long time but it is still sad. I am not going. I usually make a point to pay my respects but i just am not up to it htis time.

Just had time to read back quickly, hopefully I didn't miss anything.

Glynis - Good luck to Katie!!!!!!:yay:

vicb - I'm sad to hear about the carpenter and I'm sending prayers to his family. bbl.....

Glynis, good luck to Katie today!
Nancy, I am sorry that you fell. I hope you are feeling better soon.
John and I are now 100% recovered from the bug. He did not get as sick as I did, which is lucky for him!

Here are photos of what I cooked yesterday. Grilled pita bread:

and grilled chicken and haloumi cheese on Greek salad:

WFD: Greek meatballs in avoglemono sauce over egg noodles.

 Are you okay? Do you need to see a doc? Take care of yourself!!

I think I'm going to the store on the way home so we'll have fig glazed burgers and garlic oven fries.

Just a quick fly-by to let you all know I really am alive. I'm going crazy this week. We're going away Saturday for a week and have a function to attend Saturday night 1.5 hours away so I'm trying to get organized. Then the week I get back I have a court case which is horrible timing. I'm actually going to have to bring work with me. Anyways I'm going to try to read back but just know you're all in my thoughts and prayers even if I can't keep up right now.

Dinner tonight is mustard pork loin, roasted cauliflower, and maybe rice.

I am so sorry. That is just WAY to young. They should have caught this!!

Our kids process in, if they want to, waving and laying palm branches and only school age kids are invited since preschoolers have worship care. Well, one set of parents were convinced their 3 year old was capable of doing it too so I put him in between two big kids. He did it but he covered his eyes with his hand the entire way down

How cute!! Our service went along without a hitch. Now just wait till Easter. :lmao:

Sorry for the rant. It is getting close to my dad's birthday (20th) and I am feeling still a little raw from my cousin passing.

Sweetie, I am holding you close today. I am glad to hear that Minnie is feeling better and that the "brat" is leaving her alone. :rotfl2:

Nan ~ Oh MY Goodness!! You take care. We should all be Weebles - we fall over and bounce right back. Please feel better real soon.

Glynis ~ Good luck to Katie today. I can't wait to hear how it went. I am sure she knocked their socks off.

Kat ~ Hi there. I hope things settle down for you real soon.

Love and hugs to the rest of you. Stop and smell the roses and or Lilies this week. Lent is almost over and hopefully life as I know it will settle down some. I can't wait. I have a huge pile of things to do that have been put aside till it's a bit less busy. More than anything I hope to be able to play with all of you more.

My new furniture still has not arrived. Ok, I was dissapointed, but now I am just dern mad. I am about ready to tell them to just keep it and go find something else. Something about a warehouse here or there - I really don't know but it is getting ridiculous. Now I won't even have it for Easter and it is at my house. Where is that stompping foot smiley??

WFDT ~ Grilled sirloins, baked potatoes and roasted Brussel sprouts.

Make it a great day all!!!

Wow, sorry on both accounts, your fall and the friend's passing.

grrrrr..... I'd be mad now too!

We had a power failure here today for over an hour. I was at the library working. We stayed open for about 15 min but then had to close. Patrons were not happy and let us know. Then when it did come back on later different patrons were pounding on the doors demanding to know why we were still closed when it had literally been back on about 2 minutes! :rolleyes1

WFDT = my easy thanksgiving dinner made with a deli roasted chicken and gravy, mashed potatoes and squash. Dessert is left over cookies from last night.

Nan – We must have been posting at the same time this morning because I didn’t see your post. You may need to get that ribcage checked out, it could be fractured!

Becky – I’m glad to hear both you & John are feeling better!

Michelle – Sounds like you’ve been as busy as I was last week. I hope you are able to enjoy your time away even if work will be tagging along.

Ellen – Sorry about the delay with the furniture, but I’m sure your Easter celebration will be great anyway.

Janice -- I'm glad Minnie is back to her usual self!

Aimee -- That is cute about the boy. When Caili was three she was the flower girl in a wedding, and I wasn't sure she would walk down the aisle. She did, but she was biting her tongue the whole way so the photos are really funny.

Tonight is was just me and the kiddo for dinner so I went all out.
 I hope you're enjoying vacation week.

Vic -- I'm sorry to hear about your carpenter. That is sad.

Nancy -- Are you okay? That sounds really painful. Take it easy. My condolences to you and Buddy on the passing of his friend.

Michelle -- Good luck getting everything done. Have a great trip!

Lent is almost over and hopefully life as I know it will settle down some.

Liam is counting down the days. He gave up videogames for Lent, and it is killing him. That is aggravating about your furniture.

WFDT = my easy thanksgiving dinner made with a deli roasted chicken and gravy, mashed potatoes and squash. Dessert is left over cookies from last night.

Clever idea!

Liam pitched three innings in his scrimmage today, and he did really well. The first two batters hit him pretty hard, but after that, Liam settled down and ended up leaving the bases loaded. The second inning he only threw eight pitches and the third he threw nine. The season starts Saturday.

Dinner is ravioli (regular pasta for Liam) and salad.

Quick post to say hi. Nan, I agree with Kat, have those ribs checked!!!

Laura, it sounds like Liam did really well, especially for this early in the season.

Becky - I'm glad you and John are both well. I am especially glad that you did not have to deal with a sick husband for very long.

Janice - Sorry about Minnie. We had a poodle once who has seizures. He ended up being on a special diet and meds, but that really seemed to help him.

vicb - that's a horrible story about the carpenter. I'm so sorry for that man's family.

Glynis - Good luck to Katie!!!

Aimee - Hang in there, this is the final stretch and then things should calm down at work (just in time for your summer insanity)

Ellen - I would be ticked about the furniture too. But your family will be there for the next holiday to enjoy it. I've been talking myself off the ledge too so I know how it is. I'm hosting Easter too and even though it is just family, I always stress over the house and the menu. I keep telling myself that they will eat what I serve and not care about the house. Hopefully if I keeping telling myself that enough, I might believe it. ;)

I've missed more than not, sorry. I've been having internet problems here at the office. Ever since the most recent "upgrade", things are wonky.

Dinner tonight is leftovers from last night's baked chicken. I hope to catch up on some paperwork before bed.

WFD is tacos, rice and fruit

Nancy Please have your ribs checked if you haven't already. but a gentle hug.

Ellen I would be beside myself over the furniture. I am sure they cashed the check quickly. I can understand a small delay but this is goofy.

Gretchen Don't you just love "upgrades" we had one a couple of weeks ago and I still can't find what if better yet.:rolleyes1

Laura I am glad Liam did so well :cheer2:

My brain is mush I know I am missing people and I am sorry forgive me please.

You have been crazy busy lately! Slow down lady!
Nan ~ Oh MY Goodness!! You take care. We should all be Weebles - we fall over and bounce right back. Please feel better real soon.

.

You made me chuckle! I am embarrassed to say that I slipped in the bath and made a heck of a splash! I landed with all my considrable weight on the side of the bathtub. Thank God Buddy had fallen asleep, I was dreading that he would need a crane to haul me out.............as he asked me if I really needed that cookie!

.

It really is true. I stress when we have folks over. But now I am telling you what Buddy told me not too long ago...........on your worst day your house is ten times better than most people so stop worrying.

Janice- I am so glad Miss Minnie is feeling better...........crabby old gal that she is :goodvibes She reminds me on my Sassy. She is 17 and I am sorry to say she is a mess. But she is old and i take her the way she is. anyway, we had to take in Baxter, Gail's cat because he would not come upstairs now that Kim is there with her Jaegar. Sassy will not tolerate him, poot boy. I keep all of his food, water and box downstairs becasue she will not let him go near hers. She stalks anywhere he is prowling and hisses. He will not stand up to her. The little old biddy is miserable about him and all he wants to do is be friends. :upsidedow It si kind of strange to see a big black cat teh size of a small panther stand down to a crotchety old frail toothless old lady

Kat- I will head to the Dr if I don't feel better. There is no bruising but Holy Smokes!

Thank you for the kind words about George. he has been sick a long time so this is really a blessing I think. He is one of teh "old guys" ffrom Bud's work so it is sad to see them leave, one by one:sad1:

I hope you get to slow down sometime soon!

Awesome! :cool1:

Laura – It sure sounds like Liam is ready for opening day!!!!:thumbsup2 I’d love to see a video of him pitching…;).

Gretchen – I’m sorry I missed your call yesterday. I’ve been crazy busy as I know you have too but don’t give up on trying to catch me on the phone !!!!!

Nan – I know the feeling of losing the “old guys” all too well and it’s sad. When I started with the credit union thirty years ago I worked with my Dad and over the years I got to know a lot of folks through him. I have to check the obits daily to see if any of my members have passed and it just breaks my heart.

Sassy sounds like Beanie. She had a dislike of Minnie. Minnie would just be sitting minding her own business and Beanie would go over and give her a whack across the face. Minnie would just look at my with a look that said what just happened.:rotfl2:

Janice- Minnie sounds like my dog, the cat will swat him across the face and the dog just stands there and takes it looking sad. Sometimes the cat will get up on his back paws so he can swat with both of his front paws. The dog is 60 pounds and the cat is 8. (I can't laugh to much, the cat has me trained to stay out of the way.)

Nancy- I'm glad your okay. I've caught myself a few times and it's a scary thought.

Laura- Glad to hear Liam did well. We are have a nice vacation, but a little boring. Oh well, could be worse.

Ellen- Sorry about the furniture, the good news is you won't have to worry about something getting spilled on it at Easter. My mom still has all our weebles!

Michelle- Hope you have a great trip!
