Ellen, you live in a crazy place! I would have been so outta there years ago with the weather you have! I can't believe how resilient you are to stick around through that much!
Well we've been having fun. The trip was supposed to take about 4 hours yesterday, and we didn't get packed and on the road until 3PM. With stops for gas and potty breaks, it was about 8:30 when we got there. However about an hour from our destination, the Generator light came on. We kept going knowing that mainly it just meant we would have to pray that the car started for us the next day.
Luckily we found a guy only blocks from the hotel who specializes in Classic cars and he is rebuilding the Generator and replacing the voltage regulator so hopefully we can participate in tomorrow's Car Club events. There is a drive at 10AM. We are stranded at the hotel for today. It's not that bad, it's in a shopping center with lots of stuff.
For dinner last night we walked (Fran scooted) to a Steakhouse called Tahoe Joes. She had a steak sandwich and I had Shrimp Scampi with Fettucine. We both had a good stiff drink after that drive! I took my pasta and veggies home in a doggie bag and she took part of her sandwich. There is a Hometown Buffet in the parking lot as well, so we plan on hitting there for lunch. Fran is going to grab a piece of chicken or two and put them in a baggie for later. Our hotel has a complimentary Happy Hour from 5:30-7:30PM and after that we will come back to the room and heat up our leftovers in the Microwave and probably watch some movies by hooking the computer up to the TV.
Hopefully they can fix the car by tomorrow morning!
Kimmar, how did you get seeds for cheese filled jalapenos?
