The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

WFDT?

Pasta two ways. DS wants "red sauce" and pesto. Go figure....he can't work out Marinara or Tomato; but he knows pesto! :rotfl:

Saturday I made a big pot of Bolognaise sauce. Yesterday after band rehearsal about half a dozen of us plus a couple of our fans sat down for spaghetti dinner with salad and garlic bread. We had brownies and lemon bars for dessert.

Welcome! :welcome:

You'll find a few other Jamborinis over here as well! Do you do meatless Mondays?

Snowflake rolls?

And I will stick around.:) have the app now- no reason not to!

I didn't recognise your avatar either.

I didn't yours- but then again... When I'm on the app, for some reason, it doesn't always show the avatars/tags accurately?

When kimmar was stuck to the pole... I just saw a Mickey silhouette! So... I try to not really go by avatars on my app. It lives to confuse me...

Morning all.

Last night for dinner was seafood tamales at a beautiful restaurant, david had beef short ribs that were melt in your mouth. I have pictures but they are not up loaded yet...

Morning, all! Dinner tonight is at the church so no cooking for me. I'm so sorry, I didn't get any pictures done this weekend but I promise I will. I hope everyone is have a great week and doing well.

Have a great week!

Wednesday night and dinner was at mum's tonight. Rice, curry and stir fry.

Hope you are all well. I have pictures to share...just need to find the time to put the recipe together with it.

Has anyone made tikka masala or curry?

We usually eat it with chicken. I found a vegan version that's supposedly easy but still yummy.

The dishes just seem daunting!

I cook curries a lot.

What's in the recipe? Usually there is a lot of spices to use to make the sauce/marinade. Are you using a tofu substitute for the chicken?

A lot of spices! Ha. It looks like most other recipes I've seen, they just seem intimidating. I'm a decent cook...but not spectacular. :)

The recipe uses seitan, but I'd be open to a chicken one too.

If you follow the recipe, you'll be fine. The recipe should boil down to:
  • A whole heap of spices, mixed with yoghurt.
  • Marinade then cook.
  • Sometimes add peas and herbs during the cooking process.

If you eat meat, then I'd go with chicken. I don't mind mock meat substitutes or tofu.
