The What's for Dinner Thread- June 2012 (recipe index in OP)

Morning everyone...

Well we made it another day. I can now feel the difference in my cardio ability and my feet don't hurt as quickly, so progress is being made, I can now make it to 9 minutes! Whoop! :rotfl:

:thumbsup2

....WFDLAST night? I just bought this the other day:

...it's GF, and has no high-fructose corn syrup or MSG. I put boneless, skinless chicken breast (about 3-1/2 lbs. ) into a large Zip-Lock bag, added almost half a bottle of the marinade, and put it in the fridge for about 2 hours. Then I slow-roasted the chicken on a low flame (on the higher grill) of my BBQ grill for abour 20 minutes. I sliced the chicken and added it to my salad:

1 bag Dole's Spring Mix salad
1 oz. dried cranberries
2 oz. glazed pecans

one can drained mandarin orange segments
2 oz. crumbled feta cheese (put this in the bowl last, so the warm chicken can partially melt it!)
raspberry viniagrette dressing

Toss all ingredients together and serve.

Allison- she never could have shared her financial issues with you. I bet all she was willing to let you know was that her finances were not as secure as yours were and that must have been difficult for her to do. A lot of people tend to avoid those people who fr one reason or another mismanage their money and she wold have wanted you to approve of her.

I don't for a minute believe you and Fran would have had this reaction but I do believe that Arline had been subjected to that attitude before. She trusted you both enough to let you know she was not well off. You also know that she was impulsive, her decision to ignore safety precautions showed you that. You knew her, you loved her and she was your friend. You are hurting. :grouphug::grouphug:

Perhaps you have hit it right on the nail. We've been so confused with all the deception we haven't known what to think. At least in your scenario it's not a malicious type of deception.

Good for you! I really wish Fran and I could get something going. She said she was going to practice walking, but she says a lot if things! :lmao:

Lindsay, you look great! I cam really see the weight loss in both yours and Scott's faces!

ELlen, thanks so much for your concern.

PIO, I know what you mean about going put with coworkers (although it has been years since I had any!) I would love to have Mom's house to go to for a nice relaxing dinner. Well that is if she still cooked with butter, didn't take the skin off the chicken, used salt and hadn't sworn off carbs! I guess I'm too picky! :rotfl2:

Marilyn- you make me laugh all of the time! :lmao:

PIO- If I am ever in your neck of the woods you would have to beat me off with a stick to keep me from pounding on your door and drooling in your kitchen!

Lindsay- I meant to tell you that I noticed your weight loss and thought that you should be very proud of yourself!

I don't believe for a second that she was trying to hurt you.:hug:

Dinner s grilled steak, salad and some sort of veggie. I have a sweet potato I an bake for Buddy if he wants it.

i made a creamsicle cake the other day but he has not touched it. I think that he is trying to avoid sweets.

Morning/Afternoon everyone.

Well I made it another couple of minutes, I am around 11 minutes now, of going all out and flinging myself around.... I have never in my life jumped so much, it seems like every other move is a jump in the air, arms flung one way or another, lifting your knees up in mid-air, or starting from a squat and jumping up.... Uggghh, my calfs start to cramp and then I can't move anymore.

But we are making it further all the time. So we have been at it for a week now, and I am still upright.

It does not take much for me to fall asleep these days, I am right out...

Dinner last night was left overs of the "aussie" chicken... The honey mustard sauce is really tangy and sweet at the same time, so it makes the chick really moist, plus the bacon is the best part!

I hope you all have a great day!

Nancy - If you're ever in my neck of the woods and you DON'T visit, I'll definitely be beating you with that stick! :rotfl:

Home alone. Made me a quick bacon carbonara for dinner.

I'm having really busy days at work. I think I'm generally pretty good at multi-tasking but work is getting to a stage where I need to write down what I need to do and where I'm up to for all the tasks I'm juggling. I was all down about it until I spoke with my program director at work. He laughed at me. He said that I was juggling so many things that he was wondering how I was keeping everything going the way I had been. Made me feel all good.....until he threw two more balls my way!

My reward for being efficient? Yet more work!

:rotfl2:

Today I am making us chicken fajitas. Nothing really exciting.

Scott weighed today after much prodding. Since the end of June, he's lost about 10 pounds. Woo hoo! I TOLD him he had lost weight!!! I took him to spin class with me last night and he loved it. He's definitely going back with me.

Nancy - If you're ever in my neck of the woods and you DON'T visit, I'll definitely be beating you with that stick!

That goes double for me!!!!

Congratulations to Scott for losing that much weight! :thumbsup2

Did you ever tell us the recipe for this Aussie chicken? Good for you on the exercise! Although with all that work and going to sleep, make sure you keep up on your germ killer so you don't get sick! :lmao:

:rotfl2:

That's exactly how it works, and make sure you don't miss the meeting, otherwise you get assigned the project!

Today we head out to the DLR for a D23 seminar on Animation. Its not even 9AM and I'm showered and ready to leap out of bed and go! I wish Fran was as excited! Tonight's dinner is at the new Carthay Circle Restaurant. The next two nights I'm cooking in the room so Fran can catch a nap on our short dinner breaks from the seminars.

I have had that happen a bunch... They know that you will get it done, so they pile it on until you scream and then start backing off...

I took a list of all the things I was working on to my boss one time and asked him to prioritize them for me... That is when he figured out everything I was doing.

It is pan fried chicken that has been pounded out, with bacon and cheese and honey mustard sauce... you both told me it was not Aussie Chicken... But someone else named it. I just made it :lmao:

have a wonderful time at DLR..... cant wait for the pictures :cheer2:

I doubled up on the Germ Killer last night :)

Well it is hard to believe that this Wednesday will be two weeks for us on the Insanity workout, I have not lost an ounce but my cardio is much better, and I can tell that I am getting better at doing the routines.

Last night I had DH's son over and celebrated his birthday, he is 28 and as lazy as ever, I sure hope one of these days he wakes up and gets on with his life.

Oh well....

Tomorrow I have to drive down to Suffolk, VA for work and will return late Tuesday evening.

Hope you have a great day.

I am so proud of you! I never made it past watching an exercize video on TV so you rock!

No need to threaten me with a good time!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

Yep.....no good work ever went by unpunished!

Good for Scott!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your cooking is helping him!

.

Either he will or he won't. He has the tools so what he does with them is up to hm. Bddy's nephew never got his act together. It is a shame really, both Bud and his brother Gary gave him good examples but he never took advantage :(

Well we have eatenbut it was out for the past few days. I am gooing back to school with Marisa so Thursday we went to Olive garden to celebrate! I got a peach chicken that was okay but the pasta was good. Some kind of carbonara garnished with fresh tomato. Sangria to die for! Then Buddy took us all out on Friday to celebrate. We went to maine fish market, it was delicious! Fried scallops, my usual :thumbsup2

Saturday Marisa made her buffalo chicken dip for Buddy. I was so tired after cleaning and removing labels fro over 120 bottles that I used it as part of a cheese plate for dinner. It was so good on crackers. Buddy turned it into sandwiches :lmao: Surprised????????????????

Today my girls got home from there two weeks at the beach. They came down the street this morning full speed ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rylee wanted to nap in her own bed so I kept Nola and Marisa, Kady and I took her to her first movie :goodvibes

Tonight Buddy is not too hungry so I think we will have leftovers.

Morning, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was kind of cruddy. Sorry, this is a long story. I was asked to fill in on a praise team at church this week and I said yes. At practice Wednesday night, I felt like my voice was starting to go. Sure enough, by the end of the night, it was gone.

The next few days my throat started to hurt as well and I would wake up and feel like I had fluid in my ears. I went to the doctor Saturday afternoon while we were out running errands. *Sigh* It ended up that my throat was blistered, I have a roaring ear infection, and I'm wheezing. So I got a shot, some meds, and I'm back on an inhaler again. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

On a positive note, I am feeling better today, I just don't have much of a voice. For those of you on Facebook, you might have read my comment about thanking the Lord for helping me find my voice. Well, I got enough of it back to sing on the praise team yesterday morning, much to my delight. That's what that comment was all about.

On that note, do any of you guys have asthma? I had asthma as a child but eventually it just dwindles away. I'm worried now that it may be coming back. It wouldn't be that big of a deal to have to use an inhaler the rest of my life. I'm just curious if any of you guys have experience with it. Thanks for any and all info.

I am taking a sick day, of sorts, today. I am skipping working out and just staying at home. My only constructive plans for the day are washing a load of towels and making a pot of chili.

I hope you all have a great Monday!

Lindsay- I have mild asthma and use an inhaler. Advair. there was a time that I needed singulair but I am fine now. I would suggest that you see the Dr and have her run some tests to determine how you are breathing. it is better to keep it under control if there are issues.

I am glad that you were able to sing.

....well, I still don't know WFDT, but I can tell you what I had for dinner last Saturday night - pulled pork with macaroni and cheese from the Top of the Hill restaurant in Chapel Hill, N.C. - THAT'S what! :teeth:
