Yummy!!!!!!!

We celebrated my Dad's 80th birthday last weekend, hence why the overseas visitors. 80 is an auspicious age in the Chinese calendar. It was a banquet meal, South East Asian style.

The menu; the red paper and dark light was a lethal combination. This was the best I could do.

Morning, all. We spent another uneasy night in our beds last night. However, things are looking up. The fire is 10% contained, this morning, and we have rain in the forecast. Alan was up at the fire line at 4:00 and said it was already raining hard up there. As long as the lightning doesn't "get in the way" they are optimistic that the fire will be contained today.

I hope they have got that fire contained by now. Stay safe!

I took today off from work, to finish cleaning the house, the ice machine in our side by side leaked out the chute from which falls, and was all over my hardwoods, I have a few that are swollen, and it looks like the finish might come off....:crazy2:

Then David and I are going to the store to replace some food items... cream, milk, eggs, cheese, sour cream ..... etc, etc..:rolleyes2

Hang in there!

We are in the 100's again today, but a cold front is on its way and it is to be in the low 80's tomorrow. It will feel downright cold out. There are farmers up in the panhandle that are walking away from their corn. It is mostly dryland corn and it is burning up. We will all see the higher prices I am sure. It is so very sad!!

That's terrible about the corn and all those farmers. I've been wanting to see the prices go on really good sale, but I guess that's not likely soon. I hope that cold front gives you some relief!

PIO - NIce food porn, I forgot to comment on it on the "other" thread. If I wasn't hungry when I saw that before, I am now!

I think I'm going to have spaghetti and meat sauce for dinner. Everyone else will probably have leftover Chinese.

....OMG, you're KILLING me with all that food porn....'cept ya lost me at the lemon cake....:confused3

Good Sunday Morning!!

Ellen- Hot weather! I saw that the corn farmers were struggling. Our insurance gal was here on Friday and she said she is getting calls already because of heat stress here. The apple folks got hit twice this year and now see sunburn on their fruit. I think we are looking at higher prices all teh way around.

Buddy has been out daily trying to salvage our crop. We cannot irrigate so he has to fill the crop sprayer and keep going over the field. It is a fine mist sprayer so it takes a long time. He told me yesterday he is losing hope :worried:

Brandi- give the wood time. Our wide plank red oak floors buckled and after a while they went back. I did not think that they would. I would ask your insurance company if they will send a restoration crew over. The appraiser will check to see if there is damage you do not see and perhaps will have the big fans and dehumidifiers sent. They really help!

PIO_ I love your food porn! Makes me hungry

Glynis- checking for updates!

DInner last night was late but really good. I grilled a lovely wild sockeye salmon, squash and made a big salad. COrn on teh cob and mac and cheese for the girls. They ate some fish but it was not the best part of dinner for them ;)

I want to grill steak today. Better take it out of the freezer soon!

Nancy - so sorry to hear about the crop, hope it turns around soon.

I am gonna let the floors go a little bit more, I think they are getting better by the day, this heat is drying everything out so much, it might just work!

Dinner last night was pizza, the crust turned out really good, I was surprised, it was a mix from Walmart.

Have a good day everyone.

....OMG, you're KILLING me with all that food porn....'cept ya lost me at the lemon cake....:confused3

It was actually a chocolate and vanilla ice cream cake. My SiL got the lemon coloured gel decoration on top of the cake because she thought it would make a nice contrast with the chocolate covered mango mousse. :confused3

Hey, everyone! Sorry for being scarce this weekend. We had a horrible gust storm Thursday night, you may have seen it on the news. It was so bizarre. We lost all cable and wi-fi for a few days so I couldn't access the DIS well. Anyhoo, today I am making vegetable soup with Italian sausage.

Last week I picked up some salmon and had roasted salmon with broccoli on Thursday. It was so good and so dadgum easy that we decided to have fish for dinner once a week. Easy and delicious- my kind of cooking! :)

I hope everyone is safe and feeling well today. Happy Monday, all! :flower3:

I thought it was a fruit topping and was drooling. :rotfl:

I saw that! The weather across the Nation is bizarre!

We went to see Katy Perry so our dinner was late. Grilled kielbasa, grilled steak, sauteed mushrooms, steamed haricots verts, broccoli and green salad. IT was really good!

We are meeting with teh lawyer this evening to discuss MIL's will and probate tomorrow so dinner will be fast and light.
