The What's For Dinner Thread - Feb '09(recipe index in OP)

That's it, except I'm going to add ground beef with the Italian sausage! Sounds good, huh?

VERY good! :) I want to try it, too.

Speaking of magazines, I get so many free ones from freebie/budget type websites, I can't keep up with them. I have stacks we take to work, give to my mom and take to the hospital. Even over on the DIS Budget Boards, sometimes they post links to get free magazines. My mailman must hate me! :rolleyes1

Well, I have good news to report from my sister's hearing today. First of all, thanks to all sending good wishes and prayers her way. It helped her be more confident. She was awarded primary custody of their daughter and now she can start finally, moving forward with her life. And in true form xbil lost it in court--just when he was trying to convince the judge all the talk of his temper was lies, he blew up. So much so, that the bailiff escorted my sis and mom back out of the courtroom. Nice, huh? Thanks again!

I'm so glad it went well! What a relief for everyone.

Hi everyone, I tried catching up this evening, but Hailey is not really having it. I don't know if she just doesn't feel well or exactly what the problem is, but she has been doing that whiny, pitiful cry every 10 minutes or so, which means I don't really have time to read everything.

 I hope you are able to find the solution soon.

It's 11pm and I just found time to jump on here! Today I went to a food bank fundraiser - a bunch of local (higher end) restaurants come and serve bowls of soup they make as a donation. You just go to stations and get as many as you want for lunch. Bakeries are there with pies and pastries, Starbucks was there with coffee, Coke with soda, etc. Anyways, you buy a ticket for $35 - all the money goes to the local food bank - and all these companies donate the food, decor, supplies, etc. But it gets even better! Local artists have made and donated pottery bowls and you also get to pick one out to take home! I got the prettiest bowl I need to take a pic of and show you.

Tonight we had Benihana for my brother's birthday - we ate and ate and ate. I had chicken, shrimp, and steak but also tasted my dad's filet and scallops.

Fri and Sat are supposed to be my days off but I worked 6 hours today and will have to work 4-5 hours tomorrow.

I leave Sun morning for Orlando :cool1:

Empty Bowls?! :thumbsup2

The company I work for has an art center and they do this every 18 to 20 months. I have missed the first two, they have always done it on a day that I already had something else to do. Hoping that I will ba able to attend the next one.

Someone already replied, but I make Not-sagna pasta :) I did have a lasagna soup recipe saved from this thread and I think the one that was posted is it.

It Saturday which means we are going out. We haven't made up our minds where yet.

Good Morning!

I have to thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers for my brother. Your support and friendship over the years mean the world to me...I look forward to this thread everyday. Please continue to send best wishes for my brother. I really do not know the extent of everything but it has spread to his liver and pancreas. I can't understand why they did not see this sooner. He has has stomach issues for years. :sad2:

Scotlass, That recipe looks yummy! Thanks!

I know I have missed some stuff but I wish you all well... :grouphug:  :grouphug: I just wonder if I will ever get back on track with the thread...;)

Not sure about dinner. We are supposed to go out and do some errands and get a bite to eat...not sure if it will be lunch or dinner. Last night I made a quick meatsauce and spaghetti and served it with italian bread, roasted peppers and mozz.

Have a great day all!

Lauren Continued prayers and many hugs  Are you resting? Your resting sounds strangely like running around to me. Do we send Nancy after you. Take care of yourself you are going to need all the rest you can get now for later when Bean gets here.

This morning I go to visit the Doorway to dreams event so I can get my Disney fix and maybe melt some of this snow. I doesn't look like we got too much overnight but then I'm still in my jammies and drinking coffee.

I had the strangest dream last night Alex and I were in epcot and ran into Gretchen and her family and met up with all the rest of you near Canada. Needless to say I am tired after running around with all of you and feel strangely hungover. :rotfl2: How do all you feel this morning?

Janice, I am taking it a little easier. Thurs I was really good. Yesterday I was running to doctors and today I will be chauffeured around. My MIL and SIL are coming again tomorrow to help. I don't know what I would do without them.

Sounds like your dream was a deja vu thing...someday we will all meet and eat and drink around EPCOT. Enjoy your day!

2 weeks from today, at about this time, I will be on my way to the hospital. I think I am going to get Tom to take me out to an early light breakfast (since I know we'll be up with the excitement) and then be at the hospital for 9. :cool1:

This is too weird, I came here to post a WDW dream I had last night - Nancy & Buddy bought the AKL and invited us all there to bid on shares of it, strange, I know.......:rolleyes1

WFD - Chinese take-out!

Kathy How funny we both had disney dreams and how nice of Nancy and Buddy to invite us. :rotfl:

I am not going anywhere today. The wiper arm on my car broke. luckily it was just a block or two from my house. So here I sit. Hopefully it is a easy fix and I can get out later today or tomorrow. It is snowing again here and I need 2 wiper arms :rolleyes1

I guess someone doesn't want me to leave the house today :upsidedow

Lauren, knock on wood...I have been feeling good. You rest and relax. You are very lucky to have kind ILs, you make me jealous of that. Prayers to your brother.

Today, I went and played around at Babies R Us. So much fun, what cute things for little girls. I can't wait to put bows and frilly dresses on her!!!
Dinner was takeout pizza.

Kathy, thanks for wishing DH well. He is still nursing a cold, he has had a rough winter this year. I think he is run down from working so darn hard.

Yeah! I got the wiper arm fixed. All it needed was to be tightened. :thumbsup2 Yeah for friend's husband who are handy.:cool1:

Tonight we are having fried chicken, red beans and rice with a salad. Yes I know it is not monday but that is what I want :upsidedow

Hi, all! We have had a very productive day! The kids got the house cleaned, we managed to get some much needed shopping done, and even got to see Bolt at the dollar movie theater. Now, I'm warming up some bean and bacon soup for the kids before Alan and I go out with his brother and his wife for dinner and a showing of Australia at another dollar theater. Not sure where we are going for dinner. BIL is paying as a way of saying thank you for watching their 5 kids a couple of weeks ago.

Lauren- Your brother is still in my prayers, as are you! Please try to take it easy. I know it's easier said than done, but Bean needs you to be at your best right now!

Janice - No wonder I woke up so tired this morning. I swear I felt like I had walked....well, all over the World!:rotfl:

Hey ....

Got some wonderful news yesterday, kinda long so bear with me.

Ahem....

When i started at Gap I worked with this lass.

She was very beautiful and had been a model in her teens/early 20s.

She had a wee girl only months younger than the boy and DH was sooooo handsome..:lovestruc

She was kinda flaky but good fun if you took her stories with a pinch of salt.

Anyways, I met her one day about 18 months ago and she told me she was leaving next day to go live in Australia.

WOW and cool i thought.

Now fast forward 12 months,I walk into my first day at IKEA to find said lass's DH is my boss.

Im confused ,because he is supposed to be in oz right !!

WRONG.

Unknown to me they had split up and she had ran off to oz with his wee girl.

He had gotten a phone call one monday morning to say she had not turned up at school and some of the kids in her class were saying she had gone away to live !!

It turns out the wee one lived with my boss most of the time and he was an amazing dad.Basically the main parent.

As youse can imagine he has been heart broken.

So now the good news.

He is leaving for oz in 8 weeks.

Ikea have " created " a job for him and have gotten him a place to live just 5 mins from his wee lass.

I can't express just how happy he is.

As i said he is soooo handsome and a really nice guy but his life is empty without his wee girl.

Its been so hard to watch.

He told me yesterday he didnt know how he survived because when he opened his eyes every morning his heart broke all over again.

When he told me that i was in floods of tears.

I could not imagine being away from the boy and i really dont know how he coped.

Im so happy for him.

scotlass I hope he will be able to see his daughter. I will never understand how selfish some people can be. How difficult that must be to be separated from your child.

Glynis glad you have such good cleaners. :thumbsup2
