The What's for Dinner Thread - August 2014 (recipe index in OP)

Well we're back on land. In the Big Easy now. We picked up somewhat of a lurgy, to quote someone else. First stop was CVS for some heavy duty meds to clear us out, and we've been sleeping it off. Hoping to go out this afternoon and do a little bit!

Hope you are both feeling better soon.

Morning everyone.

Spent some time at radiology again today, another cancer screening.

I had two phone interviews last week and now we are setting up an in person interview for the job.

I think this is going to happen....

PIO - Hope you are feeling better
Kim - eyes are crossed
Ellen - what a crowd you had, how wonderful Sounds like lots of fun there.

Happy Hump Day everyone. I'm glad that the bulk of the day is behind me now!

I had yesterday off. Thank goodness!! I was pooped. We ended up with 19 for Easter dinner. I don't think anyone left hungry that's for sure.

That sounds like a LOT of work. Hope you recovered from the day.

Oh no! I hope the results are all-clear.

Hi folks!
Still hanging in there. Dinner is always up in the air as I have no idea how Fran will feel come dinnertime. Ugh. Things are not at all turning out as planned.

Happy hump day my friends,

Brandi ~ I pray that everything turns out ok. Keep that chin up and think positive thoughts. We are all here for you my dear.

PIO ~ We all pitched in, so no one had too much to prepare. We all are pretty good bakers and cooks so we talk and decide what each will bring. Even Matthew and Nephew Heath contributed.

Alison ~ So are you home now? It's tough sometimes getting back in the swing of things. You'll get there!

It is cool, drizzlie and cloudy out this morning. Typical spring weather for sure. We are to get into the 60's today. We shall see. All of our regular activities start back up tonight so the Church will be a hopping.

Got word yesterday that yes Pastor Dyton will be leaving us. You all have NO idea how I dread going through another Pastoral change again. I am so sad. Dyton was a great fit for our church but I knew he was going to be just temporary. Hopefully the next Pastor will be around for longer. We had such a mess about 5 years ago, that it took 2 pastors to fix the mess Pastor Todd left us. It is just scary for me as I tend to over think situations and the "What Ifs". As I have said before to all of you - I don't do change real good. :(

WFDT ~ Grilled cheese and tomato soup. It's that kind of day.

Make it a great one!

No, we go home tomorrow. Fran at least agreed that we can keep our dinner reservation for tonight. So that's a good thing.

WFDT? I'm not sure, but it's definitely with boneless chicken breast....

Thursday.....and today I spent time mixing up cat meat. We feed our cats a raw meat diet which includes meat, egg, liver, Fish Oil, Vit B, E, taurine and psyllium husks. We usually make up enough to last 4 weeks and freeze it up. And yes, the costs of making up the raw meat ends up being a couple of dollars more than feeding the cats on tinned food. But at least we know they are getting a better diet than the tinned stuff.
Anyhoo.....I had the worst headache as we were making up the small bundles. So, after we finished the packaging up, I went to lie down. Seems like I ended up sleeping for over 2 hours!! The good news? After I got up, the headache was gone. And I fancy the cough is much better as well. Looks like I might need to grab an afternoon nap more often!!

It's definitely getting colder here. Whilst I'm glad that summer is over, I can't say that I'm ready for winter yet. And this weekend, we Fall Back with the clocks. So, it's going to get a lot darker in the evenings as well.
Oh well. It's only 6 months to go before the next summer.

WFDT? We ended up at our favourite Japanese Ramen noodle shop for dinner.

Thundering Thursday,

YES, it is thundering and raining out. Oh how we need it! Plus this way the layer of dirt, from driving on dirt roads, is washed off my car. Bonus!!

Alison ~ I hope Fran feels better today. I know you are traveling and there is nothing worse than being on an Airplane and being sick. Your own bed will feel mighty good tonight and those babies will be SO glad to see you. Happy travels!

PIO ~ I totally agree about naps. Before I started working outside of the home I took a nap every day and never felt better. There are times I will put my head down at my desk and I know I doze. It's amazing how it helps.
We are looking forward to summer here. It's been a loooooong winter.

Kimmar ~ So what did you decide to do with the chicken breasts?

I am going to Kearney tonight as soon as I get off of work to get my haircut. I have had to find someone else besides Elizabeth to cut my hair. Elizabeth only works 2 Saturdays a month and she is usually booked months out. I am the type of person that I usually wake up and think OMG I need a haircut today. So this just works. The gal I go to is ok - not Elizabeth - but ok. Then I am going over to Stephanie's as we ordered a dress for the Rehearsal dinner and we used her card for the rewards and she had free shipping. So it was delivered to her house. Man, I hope it fits. I hate ordering things. We shall see. I really really like the dress and it's perfect.

WFDT ~ Hmmmmmm, I have no idea. But I am sure I won't starve - but if the dress doesn't fit - I might not eat again. ;)

Make it a great day!

I hope your dress fits Ellen!

I'm sitting in the business center of the hotel waiting for our cab to come at 12:30. We're in the same time zone right?

I seem to have picked up the bug as I am having hot and cold flashes (could I finally be experiencing menopause??????) :rotfl2: My breakfast was Chicken Pho. I mean chicken soup is chicken soup regardless of the nation of origin! :rotfl:

I can't wait to get home and see my little babies! When we get to the airport we're going to pick up some sandwiches to eat on the plane. My abs are sore from coughing. I may take a bath tonight even if we are in a drought! No idea what will be for dinner. We get into the airport at 5:35, right in the middle of LA rush hour! Yay!

PIO - I hope that your sickness is going away.

Ellen - I hope to see a picture of your new hair style and the dress at some stage!!!

Alison - Hot and cold flashes?? YIKES! Hope you got safely home and the furbabies were happy to see you both!

Friday night! What more do I need to say? TGIF!!!!

Good morning Ladies,

PIO ~ Happy Birthday my sweet friend. I hope your day was magical.

Alison ~ WOW! I hope you are feeling ok. I worry about you! Nothing worse than coming home from vacation sick. YUCK.

Yes, the dress fit perfectly! I was a bit worried. I really would like to have it be a bit looser. But it is really really pretty!! It will be perfect for the Rehearsal and dinner.

Next Wednesday is Lilly's birthday. She will be 4 - how in the world did that happen? The kids have decided to have her "friend" party this weekend in Lincoln at a Party/Jump/Game place. She is SO excited. We are all heading in early tomorrow morning and sort of making a weekend out of it. Doug and I have gotten rooms at the Embassy Suites for all of us. So we can swim and have some fun. The party is on Sunday afternoon. We will still celebrate with family on Wednesday.

WFDT ~ Chili Dogs, sweet potato fries and quinoa salad.

Make it a great day and a wonderful weekend!

...hope you are doing well, my friend.

Good morning everyone.

It's Saturday here and I need to get going with the cleaning chores. Feeling totally lazy does not get the chore done!
WFDT? I have no idea. We'll just have to see how it all goes later.

I don't know what we're going to have for dinner. We had broth for breakfast, some mac & cheese for my lunch, Fran had a sandwich and some sherbert. I'm hungry but nothing sounds good.

Sunday morning.
Lately.....I've been better at breakfast rather than dinner. We're having croissant and hot coffee for breakfast.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
