Morning girls,

I really panicked last night, as I got everything out that I have bought for presents and realized I am not finished. Good grief I have one - 1 - present for Elizabeth and 8 for Liam. :o I truly thought I was almost finished and had just a few little things left. Man, tomorrow night is going to be a looooong night. I am so upset with myself at this point!!

Ethan has a basketball game tonight and then it's home to watch the season finale of the Voice. I so hope Craig wins!!

WFDT ~ Chili (in the crockpot) with cinnamon rolls (that are rising and Doug will pop in the oven over his lunch hour)

Make it a great day!

Ellen - Don't PANIC!

(Christmas is coming. And you'll ALWAYS be a couple of gifts short! :rotfl:)

Well today has been fun. While I was at the eye doctor Fran called to tell me that the city came by and turn off our water due to a small leak at the water main. We have buckets filled with pool water set up near the toilets to refill the tanks when we need to flush them.

Lunch was Asian takeaway on paper plates, and dinner will be Crescent Dogs baked on a cookie sheet covered with tin foil. Tomorrow they will dig up our lawn to put a new pipe in from the water main to the house. This has the potential to completely mess up our sprinkler system as with everything else in the house, I'm sure that this was not built to current day standards. :faint:

That sure sounds like a *fun* day, Alison. I hope that the water company will be restoring your lawns and sprinkler system after they dug it up? Maybe you can get a new sprinkler system out of it. At least, I hope so.

What we will get is a trench that goes from the curb where you parked your hire car all the way back to the fern grotto. A brand spanking new pipe in there and a $3000 charge on our credit card. Then it will be up to the gardener to re sod the lawn and patch it back up.

The best part is that when they put the original pipe in, most likely they split it off before connecting it up all the way to the house. The sprinklers are more than likely connected to the split line, which will mean that a new line will need to be connected to the sprinklers again. Yay! More money! Right when we are in the middle of one unit being rehabbed and have two more left.

Oh and no the water company will not be restoring anything, they will just let the plumbing company turn the water back on once they replace the pipe.

so sweet of you to go through the trouble of posting. Thank you!

Happy Birthday again!!

Today is Stephanie's birthday - yesterday was her DH Marty's birthday. I was due on January 29 (which is the new baby's due date) and she decided to come 6 weeks early. So Happy Birthday Stephanie!!

PIO ~ I love your garden pictures. Oh what I would give for a bowl of those cherries. They look wonderful.

Alison ~ I just can't believe that the City would do this. Boy they do things real different in your part of the country. Here if their is a water leak or a gas leak, anything from the street to the house is the Cities responsibility and anything from there into the house is the homeowners. Doug works for the Gas Co. and if they or the water department have to replace a main they will replace what they have to (sprinklers) and they will re sod it. Wow I would be SO upset. AND the homeowner would NOT be charged a dime. Bless you!!

meajuly5 ~ You are more than welcome. I hope you enjoy!

Today we are hosting an "Operation Santa Claus" here at the church. It is one of my favorite days in the Church. The Optimists take applications and then send out invitations to families. The parents have an appointment to come in and do their shopping for the kids. There are even stocking stuffers for them. I will go in at some point today and wrap a few presents. For the most part everyone is so appreciative and thankful. But of course there always has to be the few that expect it and are upset when they aren't invited. I usually get them in the office. But I try real hard to not let them in the Fellowship Hall and ruin it for the others. But all in all a wonderful and rewarding day.

We are headed to Kearney tonight to celebrate Stephanie's birthday. Marty is working out of town so it will be just us. She has picked an Indian restaurant that is a favorite of all of us. I have ordered Red Velvet cupcakes for dessert. Should be a fun night.

Make it a great day!

Today is Pinch Day!!

Do any of you do this? In our family we always have pinch day the day after your birthday. I can remember my Momma coming in the morning after my birthday and pinching me - nicely not the hard way - and we have always kept that tradition going. I just text Stephanie - PINCH PINCH PINCH......today is pinch day. She got a kick out of it! :rotfl:

Last night was really nice. Stephanie changed her mind and wanted to go to a new Italian restaurant that just opened. Oh my it was really really good. I had ordered her Red Velvet cupcakes so we went back to the house to open packages and dessert. So now the Birthdays are all done and I can get in the Christmas mood.

WFDT ~ Black bean burgers, pasta salad and chips.

Make it a great day!

I spent the day yesterday with a Disser from NZ. She and her husband were on a cruise ship that came to Australia. They were in Melbourne for 8 hours and I had a great time showing them round my town. We spent the day "arguing" over "who pays".
I decided that we would do a walking tour through the city and graze at some of my favourite places around town rather than have full-on sit-down meals. She and I kept competing to see who could whip out our purses quicker. First on who got their purses out, got to pay! :rotfl:

That's as close as we get to pinch pinch pinch, Ellen. :rotfl:

(And no. I've never heard of pinch day. I feel like I've been missing out!!!)

We stopped at a cafe for coffee and muffin. We also stopped at a shop for Iced Chocolates, then we had Shanghai dumplings and then we finished up with crepes. I was so full that I didn't end up having any dinner last night.

Today is Friday. I have no idea what we'll have for dinner tonight; but I have a ton of Christmas shopping to do.

Happy Friday all!

PIO ~ Your day sounds absolutely perfect. What fun!!

:wave2: to everyone else. I know you are all so busy.

I told Doug when I left the house this morning to get his running shoes on because as soon as he gets home from work we are heading to Kearney and getting this shopping finished. I will not be coming home tonight until it is!! He just looked at me and said, "Ok, but can we eat somewhere in there?" Silly man!! :rotfl2:

Make it a great day and a wonderful weekend.

I'm starting to come out of my fog. Boy being sick stinks. Last night we ordered Thai for dinner. Egg Drop Soup and Pad See Ew with chicken.

I'm feeling a little better, this week I was supposed to cook a ham and a turkey. Due to the water being off one night, having no water until 3PM the next day, and then getting sick yesterday...

Tonight I'm making the Ham and tomorrow will be the Turkey, them my parents arrive Monday. :faint:

Ellen - I sure hope that you and Doug got to eat!! And that you got your shopping done. :lmao:

Alison - Glad that you're finally feeling better. Sick is not fun at all.

Brandi - I hope you get the chance to check in here when you get back from your vacay!!!

I think I'm just about done with my Christmas present shopping. I need to head to the garden shop on Tuesday or Wednesday and get two things there. Once I do that, I'll be done. Here's hoping the garden shop has what I want!

So....I'm now turning towards thinking about food.

I have dessert to organise for Christmas Eve dinner at my mother's. I'm thinking about making a trifle; a pavlova; and strawberry coated chocolate tower. I still need to work out another dessert that doesn't involve eggs, nuts nor dairy. I was thinking about making fruit kebabs.

I also have Christmas Day lunch to cook. It's going to be the same menu as last year. I'm going to do the stuffed salmon cutlets and a roast turkey breast roll for the proteins. Just need to get the ingredients sorted out so that I can buy it all over the next couple of days.

WFDT? I have no idea. I'm feeling rather tired right now and am contemplating an afternoon nap. I'll see how I feel when I wake up.

Wow! Your meals sound very complicated! We only have four of us and I hope that Fran recovers from ky cold quickly or we will have a miserable holiday.

I seem to be rising out of it, bit I think she is just getting it. UgH!
