The What's For Dinner Thread - August '09(recipe index in OP)

Happy Birthday, Aimee! I'm glad your infusion went well. I hope you feel better.

To add insult to injury, we received a notice that our health insurance was going up because "one of the covered members is moving to a different age bracket" Thanks Blue Cross. Rub it in why don't you.
 I never liked Blue Cross when that was our insurance plan either.

Ann -- I'm glad you are feeling better! I'm sure your pediatrician will tell you, but just to let you know, if this is Luke's first flu shot, he will need two, a month apart. I had to do that with Caili last year, and she was so mad because all along I had been telling her it was just one shot.

Kathy -- I'm sorry Kyle isn't feeling well. Did he go back to campus or is he still home?

Sheryl -- That's great that Alexis is doing so well! Fingers crossed for Angelina.

Nancy -- I'm sorry Nola is sick. I hope she is feeling better.

Glynis -- That is ridiculous that the teacher would tell Leslie she had to stay home. Sometimes I think the earlier grade teachers don't realize just how much influence they have over their students. First graders take things very literally.

Lauri -- Welcome back!

Lauren -- Good luck getting everything together for your move. I know it is so much work. I hope you are able to sell the house quickly.

Ellen -- Your Matthew sounds very focused and determined. Those are great qualities, and I am sure he will be successful.

Stephanie -- With your schedule, it must be difficult managing while Scott is away. I'm glad you've had Katelyn there for company and to help out.

I'm sorry if I missed anything, I have a houseful of children right now, so there is thumping going on above my head and beneath my feet. Both kids have friends over. I am making pasta for dinner.

Thanks for the reminder. I think the Dr. mentioned that to me when Emma was there but I forgot. My poor peanut, I hope the kids flu shot is not as painful as the adult one.

I have a birthday coming up next month and it is going to be a big one (don't tell my children though). To add insult to injury, we received a notice that our health insurance was going up because "one of the covered members is moving to a different age bracket" Thanks Blue Cross. Depending on what "big" one it is. My car insurance went down. I guess seniors are better drivers:rolleyes1

Aimee Happy birthday :cake:

Tonight is library night oh yeah!

Just got home from my godsons football game, they won and even better he got to play!!! And even tackled someone! :woohoo: This is the middle one, he is a Freshman and unless they are really, really good, they don't get to play much.

I have no idea what I am having for dinner tonight, I am just not hungry and there is nothing calling my name.

Speaking of fruit with meats, I was watching Dinner: Impossible last night and the mission was to make food with and/or inspired by Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. They made a cherry and chocolate sauce for duck using Mole and some sort of cherries. I missed what they used for the cherries, whether it was frozen, pie filling or canned, have to look it up, but I am thinking of doing it with chicken.

Okay that's interesting. Looked at the Food Network site and they have the sauce made with chocolate chips and pie filling, no Mole! I watched him add that Mole to the pan!

Wow, so much chatting.
Sheryl & Kat I'll call you tomorrow & we can figure out a gift.
I have an idea.

Gretchen, looks like the ressies are just fine. I don't want to call you this late but if your around please give me a ring.

Dinner was boring but dessert!!!!!!!! Greg didn't love it to chocolatly for him. Didn't think there was such thing?:rotfl:

Hey guys...Popping in to say hi. Had another realtor here today and then went to a new super walmart that opened. It is too big IMO. I am buying things for Tom's move.

I feel so out of the loop here...I can't keep up anymore...I have been on FB though and have gotten hooked on that stupid Farmville.

I would be interested in chipping in for a gift for Brenda gif that would be OK.

Aimee,

Happy Birthday!!!
Dinner tonight was pizza...I got in too late to cook so tomorrow I am making Maria's beef recipe.

Have a great night...miss you all!

Maria, They F'd up my breakfast ADR and made it for Ohana...why the heck would grown women want to go there (and I could not get GFC)? So I made an ADR for Boma on the 16th at 10:30 for breakfast. Is that still good for you?

Depending on what "big" one it is. My car insurance went down. I guess seniors are better drivers:rolleyes1

It is the big one that starts with a 4. Will that help my car insurance?

Gretchen, looks like the ressies are just fine. I don't want to call you this late but if your around please give me a ring.

Sorry I missed this until this late, I've been busy on Facebook. I finally broke down and joined tonight.

So if any of you get a friend request and think "who is this" it may be me. And if any of you don't get one, let me know, because I have forgotten you. Not that anything on my page will be interesting yet. I haven't figured out how to do anything. Maybe one of the therapists will show me. :lmao:

Thank you. I needed that. I've been feeling really old this week.

Gretchen, I received your friend request!;)

Did you? Because I looked for you under your name and I didn't remember finding you. I did cheat by using Kat's friend list somewhat (I hope you don't mind Kat), did I get you there? Can you tell I have no idea what I'm doing yet?

Good Morning!

I have not read back yet but wanted to pop in and say hello. I should be able to catch up later...Tom is going out on a man date.

I have to use the beef cubes that I took out of the freezer yesterday so I will make the beef bourguignon and serve it with buttered noodles.

Have a great day all! I will BBL! I feel so out of the loop so I really need to get back here.

:rotfl:I even sent you a message.

I didn't get one. But I'm sure it's just me. I got an email that Lauren sent me a message too, but I couldn't get it when I logged on. I hope I figure this out before I tick someone off.

Gretchen - You are a baby!!!! I sent out some friend requests for ya.:goodvibes

Thanks. Any other help you have time to give? ;) :goodvibes

Well, we are falling fast at my house. Amanda and Hailey both have strep throat. Patrick is hoping to get it if it means a few days off from school. :rolleyes1 And I am busy telling myself that my sore throat is due to my sinus issues.

Tonight's dinner is going to be the baked chicken I didn't fix last night.

Good morning everyone!!

Another beautiful day here. The whole weekend is to be nice - mid 70's. We are going to get haircuts tomorrow and over to some friends house to watch the game on TV. Finally we have an away game so we won't be going into Lincoln. I have a lot to catch up on. And Doug and Matthew are in a Golf tournament on Sunday so I am cleaning house all day without them under foot.

WFDT ~ Grilled butterfly porkchops, roasted sweet potatoes, green beans and angel food cake.

Maria ~ that cake looks wonderful!! I am making that this weekend. YUM!! How is Lily?

Gretchen ~ It is so good to see you sweetie. I hope you get to feeling better real soon.
You crack me up about FB. I joined after a long bit of dragging my feet. I am on a computer ALL day why would I want to play on one at night. :confused3 But I got on mainly to talk to Jay. I have 4 - yep you read right 4 friends. I have about 125 requests but I only have 4 actual friends. :rotfl2: So don't feel to bad.

Lauren ~ don't feel bad about us. We will always be here. You are so busy right now and I so admire you with keeping it all together with a baby to boot. You are a super woman IMO. :worship:

Kat ~ How are you this morning? :goodvibes

Janice ~ My Insurance didn't go down at all when I hit the BIG 50. That is so not fair. Got the AARP stuff but no discounts.

Merle ~ :cheer2: for your Godson. That is great!! I hope he gets to play more.

Make it a great day my friends.

Morning, all! It's Friday, which means I get to go bowling this morning!!! Hooray for Me time!!!

Alan is leaving for a freelance job at noon today, and is taking Jacob with him for some quality father/son time! I love that he's willing to do that with the kids. They love it, too! It does mean that the girls and I will have to come up with something spectacular to do tomorrow without them. I do have some ideas. Up is at the dollar theater, so maybe we'll go see that! There's also a Witch Festival at a local farm/shopping area that is always fun to see. So, we've got some deciding to do.

Dinner is up in the air but will most likely be tomato soup and grilled cheese sammies.

Have a great day, everyone!!!
