The What's For Dinner Thread - August '09(recipe index in OP)

Morning all! Things are going well here. Katelyn has settled in nicely and the kids just LOVE her. I was replaced last night at bedtime. Matthew asked for Katelyn instead of me. However, neither of us were home at the time, so he had to settle for dad. ;) She was definitely placed with us for a reason, it's like she's always been here. And super polite--now if I can just break her of the Mrs. Thompson bit. Makes me feel old!:rotfl: She's funny, we asked her what kinds of food she liked so I could gauge what to have in the house. She said her favorite is meat! ha! A girl after my own heart. So since she's been here we've grilled burgers, made pot roast, and tonight will be Kat's yummy Cajun Pork tenderloin.

Sheryl--lots of prayers still going out for alexis. That poor baby and the poor family. Hope everyone is holding up the best they can. And I'll tell Scott she gets to meet the Saints--he'll be green with envy too. Especially if Drew Brees is there!

Maria--sending good thoughts and prayers your way. Did they give you any information yesterday?

Looks like all the kiddos that started school yesterday had good days. Hoping the 2nd is just as good. Okay, time to get Matthew ready for school. I didn't have to drive Emma's carpool this morning and it feels great!

Lauren -- I hope Andrew gets into the school routine again soon. Caili was dragging this morning too.

Kathy -- I hope you feel better.

Stephanie -- That is great that Katelyn has fit into the family so nicely! That makes things easier for you and her.

This afternoon, I go to the school to meet Caili's teacher and then Liam and Caili have gymnastics. I have some leftovers in the fridge, so we will just eat that when we get home.

I'll check back later to see Sheryl's update on Alexis. I hope she has good news!

Sheryl, I hope Alexis improved overnight. Poor thing.

Morning all, hope everyone's off to a good day.

Laura- The Cape Cod times is now reporting 10-20 great whites! The seal population keeps growing, so I'm sure there will be more and more sharks. I'm not to concerned about them, but that's probably because we swim in the ponds.

Stephanie- I'm glad things are working out so well with Katelyn, and she has great taste in food.

Nancy- Enjoy your eggplant casserole, I've been wanting eggplant parm since Becky posted those pictures. The chuckwagon casserole looks like something my husband will love, we just had a ground beef dish last night so I'm going to wait until next week to try it.

Lauren- My kiddo was ready for bed early last night too. I told her we could try 9 oclock bedtime and see how it went, but she opted to go back to her regular 8:30 bedtime.

Kathy- Hope your feeling better soon.

Marilyn- Your fridge is in much better shape then mine, I had no trouble cleaning the shelves, everything fits on the door- no pulled pork in our fridge. I should probably by some food- but then I'll have to cook it.

Maria- Hope your doing well and get your results soon.

Vickie- I think we've all been there, and I think it's usually the little stuff that sets you off, because you've told them not to a thousand times. We can't have tacos without arguing about keeping the taco over the plate. It annoys the heck out of me because she knows better.

Sheryl- Hoping to hear some good news soon, I think Alexis next tea party will need to be complete with petit fours and pedicures, that poor kiddo sure has earned it.

Mock olive garden sausage and kale soup for dinner.

Hey Lassies...thank youse for your support yesterday, even though I has being a saddo and throwin a big drama !!

I use ground turkey. I hope my brother did not notice ;) WE have a lot of ground turkey lately, I have not been very good at thawing meat out ahead of time and this is easy to defrost

I want my birthday at your house :thumbsup2

Morning all! Things are going well here. Katelyn has settled in nicely and the kids just LOVE her.

How nice that she has fir in so well! A big sister for the kids is fun for them! And I bet is is good for her too!

WFD - Not feeling too well, may get take-out tonight.

Try to take it easy today, you have been burning the candle at both ends lately and bound to have it all catch up with you

Anyone hear from Maria today?

Hi All,
Was hoping for an Alexis update....

Steph, I have my appointment next Wednesday, so I need to be patient.

Vick, you a great Mom;)
Can't wait to actually see you!

Lauren, back in the swing again! Hope "A" has a wonderful year.
It was Ambien CR...2 pills over 2 hours & it didn't touch me. I've never seen the sun rise so much in my life.

Ann, I didn't see a doctor update from yesterday, hope I didn't miss it.

Nan, thank you so much:hug:

Laura, your new FB pictures are wonderful.

I stopped in the hospital chapel yesterday for all my WFD girls......I wish nothing but happiness & health for all. I'm someone who believes one can never have to many prayers said....

I went to the allergist/immunologist yesterday....she ordered so many blood tests. We're trying to get to the bottom of how sick I've been all day as well as we may do some drug challenges for different meds because I have been having adverse reactions to so many meds. My wires are crossed somewhere.

Dinner last night was the Country Pancake House....just yummy.
They have the best food in the cutest little town, was good to be with DM & Greg.

Ended up having meatloaf for dinner! :rotfl: Came home and my DM had made it, had it with mashed potato's, gravy and peas and carrots. We always have WAY to much food, last night my DM used a pound of ground beef, and there are only two of us.

Going to make pulled pork enchilada's for dinner tonight.

 I know the risk of attack is low, but that would be enough to keep me out of the water. My favorite piece of advice they had for swimmers was to not swim with the seals. People do that?? That's nuts! (My apologies to anyone who regularly swims with seals.)

Vickie -- I usually apologize by serving favorite foods too.

I went to the allergist/immunologist yesterday

I hope she is able to figure out what is going on and get you some relief.

I thought we would have heard from Sheryl by now. Well, we are off to gymnastics. I'll check back again later.

Quick check-in to see how Alexis is????

We have been out all day running errands. I just wanted to drop in and say hi before I get involved with cooking and feeding the baby. My big boy got a hair cut today...he looks so darn handsome and old. :sad1:

Maria, thanks for asking about my appointment. All was well. I am down 8lbs still from my pre pregnancy weight. BP was 120/80. I got my flu shot. Luke stayed with my parents and Emma came and charmed the nurses. I love the Dr. that delivered Emma. He said, "I must have some good genes b/c that is one cute baby with amazing eyes!" ;) Well actually both my kids get their eyes from Daddy.

WFD- Beef Shish Kabob, spanish rice, sauteed mushrroms, and peas. I might make myself a caprese salad, the mozzarella is calling my name!!!

One of our NOLA gals spoke with Sheryl earlier.....

"hey gals, i just talked to Sheryl, whose phone actually worked at the hospital, and she asked me to pass along the info....

Alexis is doing much better today, as yesterday was a bad day for her.She was in the playroom and even ate a little breakfast. She has no fever but the white count won't behave(staying high, but I think from what she has gone through as far as infection goes....). They are HOPING that she is discharged today- all depends on her bodily function though."

Hey Y'all, Good news she is home!! Well she's at my house right now, while Chris gets the meds & straightens up her house for her. She is very happy to be out of the hospital. Just tired from the ride home.

She'll be on 2 antibiotics, just praying her tummy will handle that. She's eating a little & "other stuff" has started working. She requested noodles with white sauce, so I'm fixing that now.

I hope all is well with everyone. I'll try to read back tonight.

Sheryl - I'm so happy Alexis is out of the hospital and getting some of Nana's cooking.:goodvibes

Sheryl Let Alexis know her Aunties are all very happy she has been sprung. Fix her lots of noodles with white sauce. I got little work done today since I keep checking if all was good with her.

Maria I hope your lab's come back with happy news  How is little Lilly?

Tonight is parent night at Alex's school oh joy. I really want to be lazy tonight. I have had a bout of no sleeping too. Maybe we should have an insomatics camp.

I wonder if I stuff my ex in the freezer if anyone would notice or care?:rolleyes1

Who ever said men don't get PMS was soooo wrong.

I better figure what I am eating before the meeting also to make room in the said freezer.:lmao:

Sheryl--glad to hear that sweet Alexis is back home!

Well, dinner plans changed. Our 30% chance of rain turned into a big thunderstorm, so no grilling here. Also turns out that Emma's school has a pizza night fundraiser with Dominos. So I've ordered pizza and breadsticks (it's for the school, right?;))
