The "What? No PINK LEMONADE Tour" - Competition Results

Lovely day, Richard - except for your poor back on Crush n Gusher! I don't think I'd have been going back for another go, you brave soul! We enjoyed Kona too.

Sunday 28th - Our last "Full" Day

Today was our last full day of our holiday. We were up at our normal time and I collected the cups of tea and the Sprite from the Artist's Palette so that we could have breakfast on the balcony.

We then did the short drive to EPCOT. We took a nice stroll around, taking in all the "countries" on route and eating in "America" - nicely air-conditioned and uncrowded - today was another high humidity muggy day.

After we had done the obligatory lands and photos we walked over to take the boat to Disney MGM - being serenaded on route by a young boy singing "Bear Necessities". Another great afternoon here.

Once finished, and running a little late, DD and I queued up for the bus to EPCOT to get the car whilst DW took the bus to SSR to get ready for the evening.

Tonight we were eating at Ohana's. Last year we have a great meal and a great time here and were looking forward to another wonderful evening......what a disappointment!:sad2: Our server was absolutely abysmal. He just dumped (and I mean dumped) drinks on the table, completely out of reach of DD. He turned up every now and then with food that was only lukewarm and we waited for long periods for the food to come. We watched the tables either side of us and their service was excellent. In fact, a couple of times their servers came and served us because they noticed we had been waiting a long time.

Anyway, whinge over. Once the meal was finished we had a stroll around the Poly before going outside to watch the MNSSHP fireworks from the beach. What a wonderful view you get from there, and with the piped soundtrack, a great experience.

After another stroll around the Poly we picked up the car and drove back to the SSR for our coffees and juice before turning in for our final night.

Epcot looked so empty and what a shame about O'hanas

We got there quite early but it was crowded on the day. We were lucky with the photos...managed to find angles with very few people in.

shame about your server at Ohanas.....did you complain ?

No, but I wished I had after we had left. It's the first bad service we've had on the DDP and I think he knew he'd got his tip. Next year the tip is "extra" on the DDP so we'll be able to vote with our "pennies".

Good service = lots of pennies; bad service = one penny.

Lovely day except for your experience at Ohanas. We had a similar one at Liberty Tree Tavern where other servers were helping us out as ours was so useless. Standing on the beach watching fireworks sounds magical.

Monday 29th October - going home:sad1:

Sad awakening.:sad1: Tonight we fly home. I'm up bright and early and over to the Artist's Palette to collect the breakfasts. The suitcases were packed last night and now lay waiting to be put in the car. Breakfast finished DW tidies up the room at the SSR whilst DD and I pack the suitcases into the car. We then drive over to Downtown Disney at 8:00am to do the Virgin baggage check-in. The skies open. The rain buckets down. Lickily after 2 minutes sitting in the car in the DTD car park it stops raining so we take our cases over to the check-in which is a breeze.:thumbsup2 Armed only with our flight bags we head over to EPCOT for our final few hours.

Boy! The rain starts again. It's absolutely tipping it down again. Thank goodness for those ponchos. Once inside I sprint over (why is it always me that does the sprinting?:confused3 ) to Soarin' and pick up the fast passes. 10:00am and the call-back time is 12 noon.

We then head over to get those all important photo's with the characters.

We have an easy stroll around the world (there's a gap in the rain) taking in the views on the way and getting those extra photoshoots.

Then we make our way over to The Land to have an early lunch, followed by our ride on Soarin' - Row No/1.:yay:

We then force ourselves to leave EPCOT and head back to SSR to buy some snacks to last us the rest of the day before our flight.

Our flights are at 20.55pm so we have one last look around SSR are before saying goodbye and setting off for the airport at 17:00pm.

The drive was mostly uneventful, except for taking one wrong turning, which after what appeared to be a long detour we managed to get back on track.

We had the normal boring sitting in the airport routine waiting for the flight. Luckily MCO has free internet access so I could connect my wifi Archos to do some surfing - until DD grabbed it of course!

The flight actually took off on time but the aeroplane was awful. I think it was the same one that brought us out. Even though there was the "one flight bag" policy the overhead lockers over row 48 were already full. One of the flight crew had used it to store all the stuff she had bought in the US to sell on Ebay - her words not mine.

Again, as with the flight out, the entertainment system was faulty, and again the flight crew couldn't fix it. That good old Archos came in very useful again (Myself and DW have one - DD was listening to her MP3). However, whereas the flight crew were excellent coming out, you couldn't have got a worse set of miserable sinners on the flight home. They were truly awful. Not responding to requests from the passengers etc. Luckily enough we had a good tailwind so the flight was only 7.5 hours and we landed at Gatwick early.

The baggage came through nice and quickly, and the owner of the Trumbles hotel was there to pick us up to take us back to our car. We took about 1.5 hours to drive home and settled in with a nice refreshing cup of tea.

Next: The Epilogue

Those last few hours are always tough, I even feel sad reading about them in other people's trip reports! I have loved reading your reports, Richard, thanks for sharing them with us. I look forward to your epilogue.

Many thanks. It's highly appreciated that you have taken the time out to read them.:thumbsup2

You still did loads on your last day :thumbsup2

I can see by your trousers how much rain there was :rotfl2:

Pity about your flight home, my DH's TV didn't work on the way home in August either and funnily enough we got an e-mail last week from VA asking if we felt they dealt with it OK so I replied and said no :lmao:

The cabin crew probably feel like us on the journey home -miserable:rotfl:

You were lucky to see any at all - on our flight home, i'm sure that they all went to sleep upstairs in the first class bit:lmao:

Thanks for your reports Richard, I have loved reading them too !!

I love your photos with the characters - we must try and get some next time.
