Even though I didn't follow the Alex challenge as it was meant to be followed --- it ended up being a challenge of my own. I couldn't go no carb -- just wasn't feeling very good with my IBS symptoms. I did drastically cut carbs compared to what I had been eating -- and I thank Alex for opening my eyes!:D I don't need to eat all of that processed snacky food to feel satisfied! Even though I am not ready for an award -- I've won in my eyes! I've learned so much -- Thanks Alex!

I agree! Alex has triggered my memory as to why I was doing this diet in the first place! I had let myself get too used to eating all those "legal" treats - Atkins bars, low carb chocolate bars, etc, etc. So, I'm doing a modified Alex Challenge by getting back to the basics of meat, eggs, cheese, and keeping the one salad a day that Dr. Atkins recommended for my health.

Thanks Alex! I don't get the clippie for doing it your way - but you've helped me anyway! :) :)
 
Well, it was a bit of a long week! :teeth: But, is was not as difficlut as I had imagined. I remember the first day, telling Kath that I couldn't do it. She told me I needed to post that on the WISH Board and I decided I didn't want to do that LOL!

I have lost 4 pounds during this Challenge and am VERY happy with the loss! :)

I have also learned a lot about the way I was eating and plan on adjusting my habits in the future.

I did it...though I did not remember to weigh in til Wednesday, so I will do that tomorrow morning. I started the challenge at 135...this mornings sneak peak, had me at 131 :) I will give the official number tomorrow, but I did start the diet with everyone else :)

What I learned. I did not find it difficult to do this. I think I will stay on it for a bit longer. I really want to make my under 129 goal by Memorial Day weekend :) I am not all that hungry, and I think this is doable for short periods of time...I'm in for atleast one more week :)

I missed the challenge because I had company, so I am not sure what it is about. I just wanted to stop in and say congrats to the participants and I love the new clip art!!! Great job folks.
 
YIPEEEEEEEEEEE for Kelsie and Glo! The anticipation was Killing me girls! You both did terrific! I can't wait to hear how you do after another week Glo.

So Kelsie---- How many carbolite treats did you whip up this morning already?;)
 
LOL!! Not one treat YET :teeth: I actually packed a lunch and it is totally NO CARBS! So, something sunk in. I really DO want one of those RS sugar free pepperment patties though!! :o

Congratulations on making the challenge ladies. You deserve that new clipart!! It looks fabulous on both of you!!

IMO, Alex is totally right about getting back to the basics of Atkins. I have been doing it for 3 days now, and hope to continue. I will have a small salad tonight though............But I must cut out the Mock Danish and Carbolite and Atkins bars........those are what do me in!!!!!!
 
challange when it was first made, but I am accepting it as of this morning. I think I do no carbs (or as close to it as possible, ie meat and cheese and eggs only) for 7 days and then announce the before and after. If that is correct or incorrect, please someone let me know.

Leaving my lunch at home doesn't help, but there is a deli nearby where I can buy Roast Beef and cheese!
 
Way to go Marsha...I will join you. I am going to stick to it for atleast one more week. I found that the longewr I was on it the less hungry I got. Good luck, I know you can do it...PM me if you want to...
 
I am also accepting this challenge as of today!! I haven't eaten anything today that had carbs in it!! :)

WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great job gang!!! And we have a few more people to report in I believe.

The BEST PART.. aside from losing weight is that even people that didn't participate learned something about Atkins! By understanding the diet we have the best chance of making it work for us. I don't think 4 carbolite bars and a mock danish were what Doctor Atkins had in mind, but rather a salad or something healthy.

The truth is that what I have found is that something like a salad per day won't make the least bit of difference. When I say a salad I mean a big handful of greens with some 0 calorie dressing and maybe a little tomato, cucumber or onion. It's the atkins bars and the mock everything that really cause the problems and I think everyone learned that. So for those of you that are going to stay on pure Atkins, add a salad, it's ok :)

I hope everyone noticed something else. These were not people just starting out but people who were already doing serious Atkins. That means they were already in Ketosis and did NOT get that initial bump that you frequently get when you start a new diet. 4 pounds in a week when you have already been on the diet is incredible!!!


And now for a special award. Remember gang being healthy is not about following some rules, it's about doing what is right for you!! Wovenwonder, you tried your best, with your medical issues you couldn't follow the plan exactly but you did what you felt was best and healthy for you. After consulting Kelsie and the Tag Fairy you are hereby awarded the official clip-art!!

Hi,
I feel as if I have been MIA...I have a terrible cold..I even had to bail out of chat last night!!

Here is the good news...I have stuck to the Atkins 0 carb Alex Challenge!!! It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I stood on the scale this morning and I was down 4 lbs...But tomorrow on Wed is my "official" weigh in.

Thank you everyone for motivating me along...and especially thank you Alex...although I was not on a diet I really wanted to start something..and last week on chat when you brought your challenge..I couldn't resist. I am continuing on zero carbs for another week. WISH me luck!!

Congratulations everyone!!!! I love the new clippies!!! I admit I am a bit jealous!!!! I am ending day 5 with the Alex WW challenge and so far so good!!! Only problem is we leave thursday evening to go to my mom's We are leaving about 9 Pm so I will report in them since I will not get back till sometime Sunday Evening. Since I don't know how to post the clippies I will not even get to see my lovely new clippie before I leave!!!! The suspense will kill me I am sure!!!
 
Well, today marked the official end of my "Alex Challenge". I can happily report that I lost 3 more pounds on the strict plan...which brought me "over the hump" to my 45 pound loss sofar!!
