The Weather Channel is saying Hurricane Sandy will reaching 1000 miles Inland!!

Not only is this a Hurricane Sandy and a Nor'Easter together! The Weather Channel say NO ONE has ever seen a storm like this!! There are two sides to this storm and the back will be a lot worse the the front side! Plus this will the highest high tide of the year, and is a New Moon that will make the tide even higher!
They are expecting flooding as far as Cleveland, Ohio, Pittsburgh, PA, Bangor, Maine, New York City, DC, Maryland, Rhode Island, New Jersey, the Virginia's, even Tennessee.

They just said the Atlantic City Board has collapse under the waves.

Please evacuate! there is going to be 11 feet of flooding along shore lines!!

That is a lot of swimming...

I work outside of Atlantic City and live outside of Ocean City. Our beaches are gone. The pictures I'm seeing of local damage is amazing. We are safe from flooding but all outgoing roads are underwater. Our concern is falling trees. We didn't have to evacuate. Our schools are actually being used as evacuation centers for OC. I just hope everyone is safe and left the islands when they were supposed to.

Our trip to DLR next week is looking more and more appealing! I just hope we have power back by then!

Yep, I live just south of Cleveland, OH and we've been getting a non-stop rain for the last 24 hrs at least.. have a 100% chance of rain through wednesday.. under a flood warning and high wind warning until tomorrow evening. We're hovering on the rain/snow temp border (we're at 40 degrees right now), so it's a possibility it could get nasty overnight.. hoping the temps stay high enough that we don't get freezing rain/ice.

30 min north of columbus, oh. had lots of rain but not real heavy yet. wind is blowing and it's appox 37 degrees here. My county is actually not under wind advisory but i'm not far from county that is under until 6p tues. havn't really heard/seen any flood advisory yet but i'm sure it will be coming for county north of us.

The satellite imagery of the storm is amazing... it seems like the cloud cover stretches from the middle of the Atlantic to the Great Lakes. Here in Michigan we've had a full day of off-and-on rain and wind. We've got a high wind warning and a flood advisory in effect in my area and it will certainly get worse before it gets better.

I'm in Kentucky and the wind is picking up, steady at 25 mph with stronger gusts up to 40 mph coming from the NW and I'm 565 miles from the ocean! So, yeah. Going to be rough on our East Coasters.

As a Floridian, I've always been infatuated by storms, I love to watch them come in ... especially when it means I won't be losing power.

However, this one is pretty much like nothing I've ever seen. The size of this beauty reminds me of Andrew and Katrina ...it's just huge. And then it's added to a powerful winter storm ... it sounds like I wanted to be a meteorologist, but I just love to watch this stuff, lol.

Were in south jersey at home now. 50 mph winds now,70 to80 to come in two hours. We are about 20 miles west of Atlantic city.
Last week this time we were at the beach club enjoying a cocktail, what a difference a week makes...

Just saw that NY Subway has water into it.

And many 1000's of Connecticut people didn't heed the warning to evacuate, and many first responders had to rescue them until it got too dangerous.

For anybody in the storm's path....

From somebody who lives on the Gulf Coast and has been through too many hurricanes to count, don't be super paranoid. The news ALWAYS makes storms a bigger deal than they are. They need their ratings. If you feel yourself getting upset watching the media, turn it off. Even a hurrican pro like me gets a little anxious watching the coverage. The news just makes people more fearful.

That being said, please be safe. If you know you live in an area that floods, leave your home! Be prepared to go without power for up to 2 weeks. Make sure you have household medical supplies and gas up your cars. If you can't find a lot of food and water at Wal Mart, try places like Gas Stations and Dollar Generals off the beaten path.

Just remember the media covers the worst of the worst. Just remember to stay calm and use common sense! I will be praying for all those people in the path.

Boston and northern New England got off quite easy this time, although a few hundred thousand lost power. About 15 years ago a plain rain storm flooded part of the Boston subway (near Fenway Park).

Let's start a fad! Stock up on canned goods, cereal, other nonperishables. Then in case of a storm you can quickly select some to take with you during evacuation and only have a few things you need to buy.
