The we loooooove Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek Part 4

These kids were old enough to know better, they were older teens, maybe 16-17, they were definitely playing on top of the table the way the table looked after, definitely ruined it as it was crushed in half somehow and I’m pretty sure they had to get a new table since it did not seem fixable, but who knows. These kids were not running to get assistance, I can guarantee that. I understand accidents happen, but this was just being careless.
As an owner at Bonnet Creek, I’m just not that worried about the occasional table tennis mishap. Bonnet Creek security is plenty adequate for the type of resort that it is and there’s no need for more in my opinion; The type of thing you’re describing could happen literally anywhere, including at a DVC property.

We are here now and love it. Even my husband, who is generally "meh" about almost everything, says he likes it better than the other places around we have stayed in, and we have been to a lot of them.

I’m aware it can happen anywhere, I was just stating my experience. Im still going to stay there because I love the resort.

I'm a Wyndham timeshare owner (and DVC owner). I'll be staying at Bonnet Creek later this week.
Question: What are they offering now to attend the "owner's update"?
Last year I stayed at the Wyndham in the Poconos, NY, and they offered me, for $75, a voucher to stay at "any Wyndham resort for 1 week in a 2 bedroom." Except it wasn't; it was useless.
Thanks.

What they will give you is negotiable, but don’t do it, it’s not worth it. I’m assuming you’re spending money to get to WDW, and that you don’t have unlimited time off. Your time is worth way more than whatever they will give you. The accommodation certificates for future trips are generally useless/worthless. It is possible to negotiate for gift cards, but again, I recommend against it.

And whatever you do, don’t purchase direct from Wyndham (I’m sure you already know that). Wyndham can be purchased for pennies on the dollar on eBay and resale owners are treated very well.

I've been a Wyndham owner since 2007. I bought resale for $100. (A friend called me from Las Vegas once. He and his wife went on a tour from Vacation Village. To make a long story short, he told me the second offer they gave him for $12,000 wasn't bad. While he was talking, I looked it up on ebay. Same package, same resort, selling for $3. Yes, three dollars.).
Yeah, the certificate is worthless. I complained to Wyndham and they gave me points instead.
They generally let me out pretty fast. I tell them I'm 70, single, only have a few years more I'll be able to travel, and the points I have now (49,000 per year, believe it or not) work out fine for me. Makes no sense for me to pay $20,000 to amortize in maybe 10 years, plus the extra MF. Although one time a sales weasel told me that if I bought more points, I wouldn't have to pay any MF. And then there was the one that told me unless I bought more points, the MF on my 49K points would be $7,000 in a couple of years.

The negotiation can happen at the “concierge” desk when they try to sign you up. You can probably hold out for gift cards or a resort credit for F&B, but beware of worthless restaurant coupon cards and the like. I’ve never done this since I always say no, but I’ve read bout it on Timesahre User Group.

Thanks. Food and beverage credit or restaurant coupons would be of no use to me, as I can only eat kosher food, and those items definitely don't include that. Yeah, I know they always send you to "concierge," just like almost every other Club Wyndham resort. I also own DVC, and they never, ever pull that crap.

Resort credit might be usable for things other than just F&B (like the gift shop, etc.), but yeah, I agree it's not worth it.

We are planning to stay here in November. What do you all love about this location. Information, such as the presence of an on-site restaurant or current pictures of the facility are difficult to come by. Who stayed during the recent renovations? Are the renovations still ongoing and what disruptions did you experience. Thanks in advance for your responses.

All of the restaurant/food options are listed online with photos and the menus. Google.

Thank you so much for your kind reply. My google search kept giving me 2 different addresses for Wyndham Bonnet Creek. I realized that one address was for the timeshare and the other for the hotel. Further digging indicates that the Back Bay Bar & Grill will reopen on Sept 30. Your assistance and kindness are appreciated.
They are the same property. Hotel at one end and the rest is the timeshare. All locations are available to both.

And thank you! My heart can always use blessings! ❤️

Escudos breakfast is great. We usually get breakfast takeout from there a couple of times each trip and bring it back to our room.

Renovations are done on a rotating schedule to all the buildings such that there's generally one building being actively renovated at any given time (at least in my experience). Disruptions are minimal. You'll love the resort.

The complex is compact and easily walkable. I’d consider the restaurants at the hotel to be within easy reach of the timeshare.
Concur with this. Think of the hotel as basically just another one of the towers at the complex. The breakfast buffet at the hotel restaurant is also decent, however I still prefer Escudos between the two.

I am hearing that Wyndham has sent out a new round of rental warning letters. I continue to urge those who are interested in staying here to rent only from Wyndham’s official rental arm, . extraholidays.com
So, I should have read this thread before booking at Bonnet Creek - and have gone down a nice little internet rabbit hole regarding this whole issue. From what I can tell, but I would like others here to verify my understanding, Wyndham is really cracking down on owners. While some rentals may still go through a rental for say the week following Easter is likely going to be a red flag and I should just cancel my VRBO rental now while I'm still within 24 hours of booking it. Is my understanding of the situation accurate?
