The WDW Vets Head West! A DL May 2012 TR - Complete!

My DD couldn't get enough of the carousel either. She loved it and called out "horses" every time she saw the one in DL or DCA. Unfortunately, with having big brothers along, she didn't get to ride it as many times! We had the same experience - she would cry when it was time to get off! I tried every trick in the book - "wave bye-bye to the horses!", warning her it was ending, distracting her about something else fun... she just wanted to stay on that carousel!

I never had to try out the gondolas because I missed that day at the park (long story -it is in my TR if you are interested). DH and my 7 year old went on the non-swinging gondola, and he says he must be getting old because it was all he could do to remain calm so DS wouldn't freak out! Something about being up so high, I guess. Both of them LOVED Screamin' though!

Indiana Jones was the only ride that either DH or I rode without kids. My 7 year old was tall enough and rode it with my while DH waited with the little ones (it was our first day, and we weren't brave enough to separate yet). DS developed a love of coasters on this trip, but the story terrified him on this ride and he wouldn't go again with DH. This is the same kid who LOVED Screamin'! I told DH to ride alone anyhow, because it was worth seeing! If comparing it to Dinosaur in WDW, do you think that would be much too scary for my kid if Indiana Jones was too scary? I think you said Dinosaur was MORE scary?

I'm glad you got to see WoC. I am anxious to see your next report to see what we missed.

I may have missed an update or two, but I just read your last one (just got back from the world). Cute pictures of your son. Glad you got to ride CS. It looks like a great ride. I would love to ride it if I ever get out there. The queue to SM looks pretty cool too.

Continuing to enjoy all the pictures of a place I hope to visit someday! :goodvibes

DAY 3 Continued: Wednesday May 16th

We went over to Mickey's Fun Wheel with DH begging me the entire time to go for one of the swinging gondolas instead of the stationary ones. Even though I was hesitant, somehow I let him convince me it would be fun, so we joined that line. I was starting to have second thoughts the closer we got to the loading platform, but suddenly, DS did something that saved me having to ride. Yay, right?! Wrong! He peed all over me!!! Never has this ever happened ANYWHERE since DS was born (aside from him wetting through the diaper at night a few times), and it happened right there in line. I was holding him and talking to DH when suddenly I felt something wet on my arm. I thought maybe it was from the little girl with the bubble gun in front of us, until I realized it was warm. :/ DH grabbed him and carried him out of the line holding him as far out as possible, and I heard several people in the line asking, "Did he throw up?" as we went past them.

Luckily for me, it didn't get on my clothes so I just needed a good arm washing in the restroom. And luckily, we had decided to bring pants in the bag to change DS into in case it got chilly that night during WoC, so I was able to clean him up and change him into his jeans. It was a good thing he didn't do this earlier in the trip at all, because that was the first time we had thought to bring extra clothes for him into the parks. Rookie mistake, I know! We should ALWAYS have extra clothes for DS on us at all times!!

By the time we were both cleaned up, the wait time for the Fun Wheel had grown, so we didn't get back in line, thank goodness. I was really glad not to have to ride on those swinging gondolas!!

This was my biggest disappointment of the trip. I really wanted to ride Mickey's fun wheel, especially the swinging gondolas. I guess we will have to make another trip back soon so me and DS can ride them. I don't think I'll be able to convince DW to get back in line for the swinging ones again. :lmao:

OMG!!! Those swinging gondolas look HORRIFYING!!! I don't blame you for not wanting to go in one of those!! I'd take getting peed on to get me out of that one for sure!:lmao:

Totally agreed, I don't know how I ever let DH talk me into that one! :scared:

I am terrified of Dinosaur!! The dinosaur animatronics are just too scary for me. Some people have no problem with it, so I can't say how your DS would do. I didn't find Indiana Jones to be scary at all, more thrilling. I don't know what it is, I know they are just animatronics but they scare the mess out of me!! Definitely see if you can watch a YouTube video of the ride first to make the decision of whether or not your DS can handle it. Almost the entire ride is also in the dark with things coming out at you.

I may have missed an update or two, but I just read your last one (just got back from the world). Cute pictures of your son. Glad you got to ride CS. It looks like a great ride. I would love to ride it if I ever get out there. The queue to SM looks pretty cool too.

Did you have a good trip? Hope the heat wasn't too brutal! California Screamin' was a fantastic roller coaster. Reminded me of Rock'n'Roller Coaster but outside. So fun!

I am all for a trip soon, but definitely not to ride the Fun Wheel!

I knew nothing about toads wild ride, after reading your review and the comments that followed I was able to watch the whole movie The Wind in the Willows on YouTube (9 ten minute clips). I am enlightened.:). Thx

Fell behind a few posts, but I'm all caught up now. Cute pics on the carousel.

Thanks! :goodvibes

Good to know that's available! :thumbsup2 Might just have to do that myself so I can understand that wacky ride next time we go to DL. :rotfl:

Ok I'm finally back and trying to get caught up. What a crazy airport and all that it seems like in Cali! Love the Cali license plate on the car. When I saw that I remembered this was your DLR TR haha! Paxton is such a good boy. Sleeping and eating on the go. Such an easy and laid back little guy. :goodvibes

Great TR! Just read through the whole thing!waiting to rad more! :thumbsup2
We are WDW vets as well headed to DL in July for a 1st visit!

LAX was pretty nuts, but not as bad as I had it in my head. Although coming out to the baggage claim and not seeing your luggage was a little panic moment!

He has gotten a lot easier to travel with thankfully. I hope it keeps up through October!

Great TR! Just read through the whole thing!waiting to rad more! :thumbsup2

Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes We absolutely fell in love with DL, I hope you do too! I've been going to WDW since I was a kid, so it was so fun to go to a brand new (to me!) Disney park and fall in love all over again. It was so fun to be able to wear a 1st Visit button in the parks!!

Indiana Jones is one of the rides I really remember from my day at DL! I LOVED it and think it is nothing like Dinosaur (which I agree is terrifying!) Sorry you got peed on, but I'd take being peed on over going on that giant ferris Wheel, those things freak me out! I'll ride a roller coaster any day, but a ferris wheel, no way!

Can't wait to hear what you thought of WoC!

Yay! You made it to WOC! :yay: Smart thinking with the Mickey Ice Cream! I bet Paxton loved it. Looking forward to your thoughts on WOC.

Ah, love the cute pics of Pax at Toontown and on the carousel! Will has that same brown Tigger shirt too. :goodvibes

Oh my gosh, i had the same confusion on the single ride line for Indy. I am glad it wasn't just me. Actually there was another woman doing the single rider line too and we both were confused. The CM's apparently are supposed to be stations near the wheelchair line to tell you where to go, but they weren't. Then we had some moron in the standby line that started yelling us, thinking we were cutting in line. That pissed me off! Finally we found another CM to direct us where to go. I was so lost! LOL! :rotfl: Me and the other lady bonded over that. ;)

I just love Space at DL too- it is so much better! You guys really managed to see a lot that day. I can't wait to hear what you think of WoC!

I'm glad DH convinced me to watch Indiana Jones with him a few years ago because I probably would not have enjoyed the attraction as much if I wasn't familiar with the movies. But yes, WAY better than Dinosaur!

I'm pretty thankful that if I was ever going to get peed on (well aside from at work, that's happened a few times :rotfl:), it happened just in time to save me from that terrifying ride! I'm not a fan of big ferris wheels to begin with either, and those swinging gondolas are just ridiculous!

He actually did sneak a couple of bites of my Mickey bar, and he did seem to enjoy it which made for a better wait for the show for all of us, that's for sure!

Eventually I caught up with a group of 3 girls going that way with one girl's GAC and they seemed to know what they were doing luckily, so I just followed them. It seemed like it took forever to get to the loading area!! So confusing. It's better at WDW where the SR lines are actual LINES, not just you walking through the exit! I'd have been pissed off too if anyone had started yelling at me for cutting. I'm happy no one did, and if anyone sent me any dirty looks, I didn't notice.

I was pretty impressed with the pace we were able to keep this year vs. WDW last year when Paxton was only 1. Without him taking a nap in the stroller this time, we just kept going from attraction to attraction!

Ugh!! I came back on tonight to get caught up here finally and Photobucket is being lame and not showing me your pics. *sad face*

So sorry about the pictures everyone!! Apparently a lot more people than before are viewing my TR's! I'm working the next couple days which doesn't give me a lot of time to try to fix this, but I'll do my best to get the pictures working again!

Well, as for the pictures, I started trying to upload them to a different account and delete the ones from my original account that seemed to have used up the most bandwith, but that didn't fix anything. Looks like I would either have to re-upload ALL of the pictures so far to another account, which I really just don't have the time to do, or wait until July 5th when my bandwith usage will reset. Sorry about this and hope y'all will stick with me!
