Why would they take her out of the car seat though? I know they are hard to carry, but without it, they can't set her down or anything now.

Maybe because she was crying/screaming and they didn't want her to attract more walkers.

Also, it's probably easier to run with the baby in your arms rather than lug the big bulky car seat. Whoever took her probably wasn't thinking about what they would put her in once they reached safety, they were just trying to get out of the area quickly.

I honestly don't think tv show producers think that deeply into realistic details like that. They just air whatever makes for good drama, programming requirements, ect. I mean by now, half these zombies should be naked, not in moderately ripped up clothes. And what's the deal with all the dresses and cardigans? I can't even keep a cardigan from falling off my shoulders alive. Doesn't anybody die in pajamas after getting bit and ill?

Anyway, my point is I think the carseat was left behind just to add to the drama.

I'm waiting awhile before I trust this series - like after it's over and all the seasons are released on DVD!

I read the comic books and they definitely hooked me. But then the story just got darker, and darker and darker to the point where it was just unbelievably ridiculous. I mean, these poor people couldn't EVER get a break. Even when they finally come across another group of survivors, well, of course those folks turn out to be murdering lunatic rapists.

The writer has a habit of dangling a teeny tiny bit of hope, allowing you to become attached to a character, before snatching it away and plunging everyone into another festering pit of despair. And killing the character you liked in the most gruesome, traumatizing way possible. Even the good characters end up doing horrific things to each other and betraying their ideals and losing their humanity.

He describes his style as "realistic", but I think he has a very grim view of humanity. He's been quoted as saying that the only possible end for every story is death, it's just a matter of how you get there (and none of his characters' deaths are good ones - at least not in the 4 or 5 collections I read!). He also says that the whole point is to show that people are worse than zombies, morally speaking.

Maybe the TV series will be more optimistic... but I'm worried they'll decide to be "groundbreaking" instead.

I LIKE it when my heroes help each other walk off into the zombie-infested sunset! I need hope...

Kids don't have those thoughts about other kids. You play on the ground, in the dirt, no biggie. The only thing they would have been concerned about is if the walkers could have gotten to her. A car seat is cumbersome for adults, kids are tend to be more direct in dealing with impediments.

Ah!

If I were Tyrese, needing to carry a weapon and protect myself and a baby, I would have fashioned a make shift sling. MUCH easier than carrying the car seat bucket. I would have gotten rid of that thing as quickly as possible!

Gunshots were flying everywhere as well as walls being blown up and zombies everywhere. The smartest thing to do would be to wrap the baby in your arms and hold her close to your chest and run.
