The Walking Dead on AMC

Am I the only one who feels any sympathy for Shane? Yes, he went too far, but he seemed, in some ways, to be the only one to see the *reality* of what they are all facing. It's harsh, but in order to survive, some humanity would have to be put aside, I would think. The group's first loyalty should have been to the group, not to driving around dealing with the captured boy (who should never have been brought back there in the first place). Even without a science background, I can figure out that the zombies are eventually going to get to the rural areas and overtake areas like this farm, and the group needs to be prepared to either fight it out or move on, but instead they just squabble. It's a war, and even though there's been a brief respite, they should have been using that time to prepare for the next skirmish.

I know, I overthink these things ;). Love the show, though, and thought the lighting in the field during the "duel" was beautiful...

The arguement that I kept waiting to hear from Dale was, that at one point and time, each and every single one of them was a stranger to the group. And when they showed up on the groups doorstep, they weren't turned away or killed. They were brought into the group. With the thought process that Shane had, none of them would be together, as he would have seen each one as a danger to him, Lori, and Carl.

In the comic the CDC didn't even happen.
thanks, I was curious about that.
I don't know if its good or bad but I requested these comics from the library to read before next season.
I don't know what TV service provider you have, I have Comcast. This past Sunday's episode is already on OnDemand. Do you have that that option with your provider??? Maybe you can catch up on it when you get back to town. If not, I am sure you can find it on the web somewhere.
yep ours is on demand with Charter too.

I totally agree. Shane was running on a semi thought out plan and when Randall's body wasn't where he left it, he had to just keep walking to make it look good and walked himself right back to the farm. Once there, he had to go ahead with trying to kill Rick or get outted for his turning against the group.

After Dale's death in the previous episode, I was so glad to see Shane basicly get his. Hadn't liked him for some time now. He was the rotten apple of the group.

And did anybody else, notice how Darryl was looking at Carol during the furneral for Dale. He has such a conflict of emotions going on inside.

yes I noticed Darryl looking at Carol. I see something happening there. maybe.

yes I felt a little bad for Shane. I thought he was going to give up his gun to Rick and not kill him, then Rick stabbed him. I was shocked at that. I do think he always had lost his "humanity" prior to anyone so for him keeping the group safe meant they just kill Randall.

how did Lori Carl and Shane end up with the other group way back in the beginning. Does anyone remember?
she talked about him leading them out of Atlanta, I wish we had seen more of what happened in the beginning.
and what is the timeline? how long has all this been going on?

Do I read the spoiler or don't I read the spoiler?

I'm still trying to understand how *one* gunshot immediately brought all those walkers out of the woods.

For one thing, they had just been all over those woods and those walkers weren't there.

And for another thing, this isn't the first time someone has fired a gun. But walkers don't immediately show up every time.

So how is this supposed to be believable?:confused3

The only thing we've been told is that the river/ponds/whatever have boggy marshes in them, which provided a natural boundary against the walkers, and also provided water for the cattle. In the beginning of this episode Hershel said that the water was drying up, so the cattle would be dying (drawing in the walkers), and there would be no boggy marshes to slow them down.

And I suppose it wouldn't be "dramatic" to have five walkers come up over the hill like that ;)...

I think Shane was at heart trying to be the better man, but he made the wrong choices and it doomed him. I got the feeling that he always thought he was the better man for Lori, and getting to have them when everything else was lost was finally all he ever wanted. When Rick came back, that was lost again and so was he. By the end of season one, he had tried to rape Lori, and Dale caught him pointing his gun at Rick. He stopped being someone you could trust.

He did what he felt had to do regarding Otis, and he wouldn't have survived otherwise (nor would Carl), but it left everyone who figured out what really happened wondering who he would leave behind next. Again, he stopped being someone you could trust.

As far as the barn, those walkers had to be put down. But taking them down execution style was not how to do it, especially in the end when they wound up having to take Sophia down in front of her mother. Those walkers had to go, but there had to be a better way of doing it.

And even after that, Shane wouldn't take responsibility for it. Even though Herschel didn't know Sophia was in the barn, Shane refused to believe that was true and twisted everything around so he could make himself believe what happened was Herschel's fault instead of his.

In the last episode, Shane lured Rick into the woods to kill him. But Daryl and Glenn followed, putting them at risk for no reason. Wasn't he thinking about the safety of the group, knowing there was a chance they could be killed as well? Daryl was already on to Shane's story being a lie. If Shane had killed Rick, would Daryl have been next? I don't think he would have stopped.

I did feel sympathy for Shane. I think he was trying to do all the right things, but he was doing them all wrong, and he lost his humanity in the process.

:lmao:

Yep, it's been nice chatting with you. :)

There were two gunshots. One when Rick stabbed Shane and another when Carl shot Shane. I think this is what alerted the herd. The natural defenses of the bog and streams were drying up and this allowed the herd better access.:scared:

Rick should get rid of Lori as soon as she has the baby. Lori has instigated most of the tension in the group.:happytv:

I don't understand why they had not started reinforcing their defenses long before this.:confused3

I've thought about this a little, and I could be dead wrong (hahaha) but some were "released" from the school back with Otis/Shane and then a bunch were let out of wherever it was Shane & Rick were trying to dump Randall.

Both those buildings were pretty full of Walkers and then they were let loose. The farm has cows, and the surrounding towns didn't look like there were too many other living people, so they were probably drawn to that area. When the guys were walking in the woods, they were pretty quiet, so maybe the Walkers didn't sense them, but once the shot went off, BAM, Walker city! Remember when they were on the highway and the herd of Walkers went by, they didn't sense the people until they made a noise (or were bleeding).

I am resisting the urge to read the spoilers, plus, I don't want to see naked ladies.....:rotfl2:

There were also a ton of walkers in around the houses where Shane took Andrea for target practice when they were looking for Sophia. Sounds like there a lot of them around.

I'm not reading spoilers. This show never makes me fail from screaming out loud at least once per episode and I love that. Since this is the last one until the fall, I'm going to enjoy not not knowing what's coming. :scared1: :rotfl:

Ok, for all of you who are tempted to read the spoilers but you're really not sure if you want to...

DON'T!!

I read them. I do realize now that I am going to miss out on that total element of "NO WAY!" and "AHHH!!! I didn't see that coming!!" that I so enjoy. ;)

So if you're not sure if you want to - I suggest you just wait until Sunday. I can't imagine anyone regretting not reading them....

And I'm shocked at how much info is out there about these episodes!!
